Lines and bland colors everywhere. Costumes became too busy and Disney pushed the wrong characters. But seeing things on clearance, I must say Hasbro is in trouble as is the MCU. I think it takes people a while to wake up from their slumber and the novelty has worn off here. GOTG will not sell.

I think they will keep doing this to milk out money from loyal customers, even if they complain, they know will buy whatever they throw out. This is why McFarlane is the King of Toy Companies. They have top notch quality and sculpts with a ton of plastic compared to Hasbro all for 20 Dollars. No one knows if the "darkest" days are ahead of us or behind us, but there are definitely dark days of Legends ahead of us. Hasbro has said they plan to increase profit by 50%. How do they do that? They either have to charge more for their product, they reduce the cost to produce the product, or a combination of both. How does this play out for collectors? Well, more of this. We will continue to get waves without any extra hands or heads, they will feel cheaper, less new molds, less paint apps, and higher prices. Legends has the capacity to be the best line, but their hands are tied and things are going to get worse before (and if) they get better.
The lack of extra hands has always felt criminal. I got a few Bandai Star Wars figures with all those changeable hands, and buying a new Hasbro figure with those big goofy open hands looks so dumb next to them now. If they would just include some natural shaped hands, I would buy them so much more readily. I've honestly been losing faith in Hasbro ever since they blew it with Jurassic World, and in my opinion, Mattel has shown us how that line SHOULD have been done. EDIT: Like that Mantis with those hands looks great.
I’m happy that we’re getting a Mantis figure finally ever since vol 2 BAF I was upset that we didn’t get a regular release not even an Infinity Saga release. So happy for the Mantis figure.
I personally love everything about this wave. Even Cosmo being a small BAF. The accessories seem sufficient and I like how Rocket has articulation. Only thing I wish is that Drax had an extra yelling head sculpt and Adam Warlock had extra hands.
The way I always see it, the BAF is always just a bonus free figure if you buy all figures in the wave. They don’t have to be be too big or too small. We’ve seen countless times an MCU BAF be a smaller character, and we still continue to get larger scale BAFs. There’s no regressing here. Just continuing what we’ve already seen before for some of these MCU. Waves.

I'm actually excited they FINALLY gave us a solid character selection for a wave. Basically one that makes sense. So it's an easy "all in" or "all out" for us collectors. Also, "I'm not sad about the funeral, I'm just sad about this action figure". Im usually with you Shart but geeeez lol. 🤦
According to a leak video I saw back in October Hasbro planned the big Groot to be separate the whole time. Still definitely going to try to get this set. Gonna start with Groot and Drax.
The sad thing is that this is a self-inflicted wound, we were to eagar to buy baf-less waves and this is the result. We have been on another dark days of ML for a couple of years, but now is more evident to every one.
Sorry you felt "the sign". It hit me about 4 months ago and if you go through the same thing I did, it is a slow descent to a point when you will ask your self "why bother?" anymore. Imagine this as a comic based wave? Cosmos WITH Pip the Troll? BAF is Drax (Hulk buck)? It is a shame that money cannot be dedicate to a parallel released comic line to go with their MCU peg-warmers. Sad times? Yes, it is a shame the ML line is suffering from mismanagement. I recently purchased the Diamond Select Beta Ray Bill, Vision, and Rulk with a price tag of less then $100. For about 25 pounds of action figures. I believe the last time I paid for more then 20 pounds of action figures from Hasbro was for Galactus. And we all know THAT wasn't $100.
To answer your financial questions, from an enterprise level, Hasbro’s profits declined 53% on 2022. So yes, the company is losing money and tightening up costs. In order to combat this, as your likely aware, they laid off 15% of their workforce. None of their competitors, including publicly traded Mattel, have later off any portion of their workforce. Expect legends waves to get worse and worse
I think the idea with a build-a-figure Cosmo is by making the anticipated "most wanted" of the wave the BAF to sell the rest of the them. Cosmo, Kraglin and Warlock were the only ones I had planned on buying as I'm happy with the non-uniform figures I already have but now Groot and Quill are the only ones I can skip.
If I’m not mistaken, Ryan says these waves are planned 2 years in advance so they probably had this BAF dog idea 2 years ago so I doubt it’s because of the recent earnings.

hey Shartimus, I used to watch you years ago i had so many figures. I sold everything a couple years ago, but recently i have been wanting to buy some figures I was thinking that Mezco justice league 3 pack with superman, batman, and flash it looks pretty good. I love I can still watch your videos so many years later and still get a same feeling from when I was young. anyways, thanks for everything you've done
Makes you think that when Todd said DC multiverse was the best selling action figure line. Everyone clowned him, doesn't seem so far fetched now. The Titans wave he just revealed craps all over this.
Hasbro made record breaking profits during COVID lockdown. The management & the shareholders want to keep making those same profit levels but demand went back down & costs went up. Hence the price increases, layoffs & corner cutting.
I’ll say this: Chris Cocks is the one who decided to up the prices for everything and do the plastic free packaging so to see it backfiring and blowing up in his face makes me extremely happy because fuck the greedy CEOs. On the hand, I do feel bad for everyone else there because now they don’t have the same budget as before to really do what they want, people have been let go so the company can save a few bucks. Which will eventually lead to lower quality products which in turn lead to less people buying them which then leads to more cost cutting and layoffs… It’s a bad situation for everyone involved and I hope things turn around quickly so the line can get back to the heights it had back in 2017-2018.
When are you doing a Zoom interview with Dwight, Dan & Ryan? You know what I would like to see? I want to see those 3 Hasbro guys against you- Shartimusprime, Boog and Nerdzoic. 3 vs. 3.
Werewolf by Night wave will probably be the only thing that would get me back into collecting Marvel Legends after months. I’m a sucker for anything that is Midnight Suns related.
I always told myself I’d never collect the GOTG figures cuz they just don’t fit in (in my mind) but ima be honest these look amazing and I already pre ordered them all
It's not losing money, if they chose to have Groot as a seperate Deluxe figure instead of it as the Baf. If Groot was the BAF everyone will be forced to buy the entire wave if they only one groot. Scummy tactis imo if that was the case
The Cosmo thing isn’t Hasbro trying to pinch, it was in production long before the need to pinch happened. If anything they’ll just reduce prices then pinch since figure cost was a primary reason for value lost
And as for Rocket costing the same as the other figs, he's pretty much all new. At the very least, it's a completely retooled version of the Mantis BAF Rocket since he's in the matching jumpsuit. Also, I can't think of a Legends wave at any point in time where the figures weren't all the same price - excluding any figs considered deluxe. I don't know why we should suddenly have the expectation of anything different with this wave.
The nebula figure is new. Doesn't look similar to the previous ones. The head mold might be the same but the face paint is definitely new. She looks more organic with the new face paint, the previous one makes her look more cyborg.
I think most of us can agree that this wave is gonna be both a decent and a disappointing wave and one does not outweigh the other. Decent as in we’re getting MCU Comic Accuracy and Kraglin, Groot, and Adam Warlock. Disappointing because of reuse and not a lot offered for a price point of $24.99 a pop. But I think it’s more than just simply Hasbro is running short on cash, I think GotG Vol. 3 isn’t going to have much new except for Adam. I’m also wondering if Star Lord’s even gonna wear his helmet with his comic accurate suit. Cause if it wasn’t included with the figure, then is that going to be the case with the movie? Hasbro could’ve been a little more lenient with the price point this time ‘cause “get what you paid for” is just not holding up this time. If anything, they could’ve just given us a multi-pack like the Black Order Amazon Exclusive. Personally, I haven’t collected anymore Marvel Legends for a couple of reasons. 1. Things are becoming harder to acquire. 2. What we can acquire doesn’t offer much in the end. And 3. (though more of a gripe towards the MCU) after the performance of the recent movies, besides Wakanda Forever, and shows, Marvel fatigue is unfortunately settling in harder and harder. Something I never believed in and refused to believe in, especially when James Cameron said he hopes it comes soon before Avatar came back in full swing. I was basically saying, “Fuck you, Greedy Cameron” ‘cause of the fact Avatar 1 got re-released and knocked Endgame down from its number one spot on the highest grossing films worldwide. But nothing amazing has come out as of lately except for No Way Home. I’m sorry if you’re digging Phase 4 and you love it. By all means, go for it! But this is my opinion. And frankly, I wanted to experience something I never have before and should’ve since Day 1, that being Transformers.
They have money, but there aspirations of making more money did not happen, thus, they will do what they can to reduce costs to earn more money, hence, layoffs. The smaller baf is a combination of what Disney/ hasbro think is a cool idea for a character and probably not a money driven reason. The cost of materials has increased everywhere. That’s the reason you could get less accessories and a higher price.
My Marvel Legends purchases have ground to a complete halt. Between the price hikes and the dropping value (Gamerverse Spider-man $35!?!), let alone the windowless packaging…I’m out. The thing is - I only started to collect Marvel figures about a year and a half ago, and now just like that I’m quitting the line. There’s lots of things out there vying for my collector dollars and Legends ain’t it.
To be honest an extra fig is an extra fig. Groot seems like it would sell well by itself and Cosmo would be a riskier choice and as on original sculpt could be moved by it being a BAF. I get BAF’s are usually big but I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal for it to be huge.
This is why I sold all my mcu legends. Hasbro steady raising prices but lowering quality and accessories. Then they make the baf a small character. Hasbro really sucks nowadays.
@Shartimusprime111 ohhh wowwww I wonnnn . Someone has to do something about these scammers on here pretending to be Shartimusprime. I hope karma does its thing you losers.
We really don't know about Hasbro's finances but seems to me like they are spreading themselves thin with that 3.75" line. I've noticed since that smaller scale line's been revitalized; we've been getting skimpier rations on this side of the fence. Have they bitten off more than they can chew?! Maybe it's just me.
Hasbro should sell arms, body, legs and heads separately then I could build my own character despite all these BAF waves. I think that would be profitable also.
I’m kinda disappointed that he’s not shirtless like he usually is in the past movies. Hope they do a retell figure of him, mantis and nebula for like another infinity saga wave
love your vids! new to the marvel legends stuff but fortunatly ive been working alot and have been able to afford a ton of figures. will def look into your store
Are we going back to the late 2000’s marvel legends trends? Come on man! This is 2023, price increase, lack of accessories and using older body molds is just not sitting right with us.
Really excited to see the movie but not so much about the figures , all I can say is that I'm glad I've got the figures from GG2 and I'll stick with them
This is a huge problem for someone like me. I can’t buy anything and since I don’t live in America, most of the prices becomes so expensive and I already know I can’t buy them all, so I’ll try to get atleast Star-Lord & Groot.
Hasbro is shooting themselves in the foot. Increasing prices while decreasing accessories, reusing parts, giving us figures with a mix of pins and pinless, windowless packaging, and them not listening or caring about their consumers. The adult collector is not automatically buying every figure anymore. So many have to go on sale because we won't buy them at their regular higher price. What's worse is they are capable producing great figures if they want to, but they take as many short cuts as they can to save money.
While it is certainly a bit of a slap in the face, I think the wave still looks incredible and the baf as it is, still looks really good! Can’t wait to finally have a Cosmo
All the companies mess up. Just Hasbro more than most haha. To be honest I want most of these anyway so the baf is a nice bonus. But I totally get why it's a slap in the face. Groot should have been the baf and come with the extra arms and guns from the trailer.

When we got the Ant Man wave I was excited to get back into Legends, but this wave proved that Hasbro is willing to give us garbage
Hasbro made record breaking profits during COVID lockdown. The management & the shareholders want to keep making those same profit levels but demand went back down & costs went up. Hence the price increases, layoffs & corner cutting.
Nebula gun came with Kang (Comic version)
I’ll say this: Chris Cocks is the one who decided to up the prices for everything and do the plastic free packaging so to see it backfiring and blowing up in his face makes me extremely happy because fuck the greedy CEOs.
On the hand, I do feel bad for everyone else there because now they don’t have the same budget as before to really do what they want, people have been let go so the company can save a few bucks. Which will eventually lead to lower quality products which in turn lead to less people buying them which then leads to more cost cutting and layoffs…
It’s a bad situation for everyone involved and I hope things turn around quickly so the line can get back to the heights it had back in 2017-2018.
I too am very happy to see a new Mantis figure and a better looking one at that.
This looks like a good wave
Good see you again shartimusprime
When are you doing a Zoom interview with Dwight, Dan & Ryan? You know what I would like to see? I want to see those 3 Hasbro guys against you- Shartimusprime, Boog and Nerdzoic. 3 vs. 3.
Still hoping for Werewolf by Night figures but these are cool too!!! 🔥
Werewolf by Night wave will probably be the only thing that would get me back into collecting Marvel Legends after months. I’m a sucker for anything that is Midnight Suns related.
I always told myself I’d never collect the GOTG figures cuz they just don’t fit in (in my mind) but ima be honest these look amazing and I already pre ordered them all
Last several MCU waves all shelfwarmed and had to be discounted
Bad movies mean that people don’t want figures from it
It's not losing money, if they chose to have Groot as a seperate Deluxe figure instead of it as the Baf. If Groot was the BAF everyone will be forced to buy the entire wave if they only one groot. Scummy tactis imo if that was the case
Also I forgot to mention, wait until clearance unless you are a diehard Guardians and MCU fan.
The Cosmo thing isn’t Hasbro trying to pinch, it was in production long before the need to pinch happened. If anything they’ll just reduce prices then pinch since figure cost was a primary reason for value lost
Ngl we should have gotten a Kevin Bacon BAF 😢
This waive is a bummer....no stretchy effects for Groot?!
Drax head is from the Disney Exclusive
I hate that star lord has pins, he would’ve been the best star lord figure by far if it weren’t for those damn pins.
I really wanted the star lord but when i saw it has pins i didnt want it anymore. But i do wanna buy groot
This wave will be hanging on a peg near you.
The nebula figure is new. Doesn't look similar to the previous ones. The head mold might be the same but the face paint is definitely new. She looks more organic with the new face paint, the previous one makes her look more cyborg.
Thanks for the video. Shartimus.
That BAF is a bummer
I really foresee Hasbro ending the Marvel legends line
The clearance is strong with this one 😆
It's a nice set if you want the gang in their unis. Would become a must-get if that Groot was the BAF. Space dog doesn't do much for me.
How many movie versions of Guardians Of the Galaxy are coming out? Can we get some comic versions?
Hasbro should sell arms, body, legs and heads separately then I could build my own character despite all these BAF waves. I think that would be profitable also.
Deeply sorry for your loss Shart.
At least there isn’t any comic book figures mixed in
I’m kinda disappointed that he’s not shirtless like he usually is in the past movies. Hope they do a retell figure of him, mantis and nebula for like another infinity saga wave
Neca needs the license. I would rather have less figures in a year, but way better quality, paint and accessories for a few more dollars.
love your vids! new to the marvel legends stuff but fortunatly ive been working alot and have been able to afford a ton of figures. will def look into your store
Are we going back to the late 2000’s marvel legends trends? Come on man! This is 2023, price increase, lack of accessories and using older body molds is just not sitting right with us.
Lol, i made my ML predictions last night😅. Next to Quantumania wave, this will be my second most anticipated line of Marvel Legends. Great video.
Picking them up maybe on clearance..
Really excited to see the movie but not so much about the figures , all I can say is that I'm glad I've got the figures from GG2 and I'll stick with them
Dark days never left
Hasbro's profits were down, but marvel legends themselves were making record profits.
Starlords legs look warped at the knee in the render lol.
No Star-Lord Helmet??? The last one in the Thor wave didn’t come with a helmet either. What gives?
I do love how these figures look, but I agree with the lackluster BAF being Cosmo. I wish the BAF was Groot or at least the High Evolutionary.
This is a huge problem for someone like me. I can’t buy anything and since I don’t live in America, most of the prices becomes so expensive and I already know I can’t buy them all, so I’ll try to get atleast Star-Lord & Groot.
Great wave. Appreciate that it's an all MCU movie-based only wave...
“While it certainly is a slap in the face . . . I CANT WAIT TO SPEND MY MONEY ON THEM!!!”
Absurd
Marvel Legends is an abusive relationship, what else can I say buddy 😂🤷♂️
All the companies mess up. Just Hasbro more than most haha.
To be honest I want most of these anyway so the baf is a nice bonus. But I totally get why it's a slap in the face. Groot should have been the baf and come with the extra arms and guns from the trailer.
@@creamy3598 you could stop supporting a company that lays off their employees, mistreats the communities that consume their products, and rips you off all in the name of more profits. Dont be a sheep.
@@WeeaboohJones they're good figures, just overpriced, this is how hasbro has been for a while, probably going to get them on sale
I think if the figs came wit more accessories it wouldn't feel as bad having cosmo as a baf. But no hands or heads for the figs feels bad. Hopefully it doesn't sell out and i can get it on sale later down the line
