It's not just about speed with Kollias. You can compare him with damn near any death metal drummer of the same skill set and you won't find many that can play with the consistent power, precision, and flawlessness that this this man has! He is the fuckin man!
Those who say that this isn't music, it is. You may not like it but that doesn't give you the right to say it isn't music. It is much faster than most music and takes a lot more practice than just pop, funk, and maybe jazz.
Its the athletic ability George plays all types of music but hes known for his footwork. Dont under estimate him he has great hands as well hes got the finger technique down pact. He's played Jazz Funk Fusion Latin even Greek venues
I play a lot of fusion and jazz. This is where I'd normally cut the guy down for playing blast beats and monotonous nonsense like most of the metal guys. Not with this guy. He's got technique and I've seen him do crazy good stuff in other genres and styles. He's just plain awesome.
how did you manage to see it, I watched it like 6-7 times trying to figure it out. And that was after I saw you pointing out the exact time it happened.
the fact that he is playing that fast is very impressive, but what is more impressive is the stamina he has for playing that fast. That shit is fucking ridiculous.
His kit would take a lot longer to mic, the techs would have to be absurdly aware of airflow in the room and around the bass drum, and it may still sound muddy anyway. It's just more convenient to use triggers to clear the sound up. If you don't think he isn't hitting the drum hard, or isn't absurdly accurate, I don't know what to tell you.
that is not because he is so fast, its because he applies pressure on the sticks with his fingers and its kind of bouncing better and faster, its a snare drumming technique.
Hi guys, take a look in GKDrummer chanell, there is no mistakes on the Kollias performance, Hi is a complete musician, he plays jazz in one video in his channel, an he has others performances in others styles on youtube. In the beginning, he says, he has interest only in death metal, but now he improved his skils in all styles. Remember Derek Roady plays like kollias an he is jazz drummer.
I would love to see a collaboration between George Kollias and Chris Coleman! That would be a MAJOR drum off between two of the best drummers to walk on the face of this earth. Two different styles, but it would be interesting just for shits and giggles.
I would correct you saying that Death Metal drummers are pretty monotonous BUT that doesn't mean Death metal drumming is like that. I think most people say it's monotonous not in the sense that's it's not complicated but that it lacks dynamics. Playing very fast is impressive for sure but if you're just blast-beating your way through the song without changing or adapting to the melody, it gets boring. Kollias is, among many others drummers, a good example of what Death metal drums should sound like.
The video on youtube saying Dave grohl is the best drummer should seriously be taken down. That video is misleading the world. I dont get the hype about Dave Grohl. I think he is an okay drummer but he certainly doesnt deserve 1% of the attention he gets.
great! fantastic! I´m going to apply some of his foot techniques to look for fasters moments....but honestly the music its kinda boring its too damn fast all the time man! I love double pedal but not that extreme...but I insist, it´s really valious this video to look for an improve of skills in foot work. I appreciate the one who shares this link with me!!! Long live Metal!
I have a serious music problem - whenever I play Death Metal on my player, during first couple minutes I stop whatever song it's playing and play some Nile instead. :D
It is music; it's all music. I fucking love Nile and George Kollias. Comparing this to jazz and funk is actually kind of disrespectful to the great players in each genre. Speed is not everything. There are many different factors in music that contribute to the difficulty level other than speed.
Troll alert! Don't take the bait! I have a gut wrenching feeling "Travis Barker" will make an appearance a number of times in response to any disagreement!
Sorry Sir, it`s all about culture, music, groove, drumming, having fun, maybe drumsticks also, but not about fuckin´ politics. Music should be a global language. Greetings from Germany.
I don't think that's the right sort of attitude to have toward music. Any musician can put the same amount of practice into their style, whatever it may be, and end up at this sort of skill level but in vastly different ways. A metal drummer that's put in 1000 hours of work will have more consistency, power and endurance than someone that's put that effort into jazz, who'll have better touch and sense of improvisation, but who won't be able to lock into a groove like a veteran funk drummer.
george is great but holy shit who edited this? its awful you cant actually see him because of the cuts. stick with 3 angles + a foot cam and stop cutting every 2 seconds
All great drummers, bro. But don't try and compare drummers. To each his own, unique special style. If you don't like it, click the dislike button and get out.
+john doe Wow...I guess everybody has their opinion but have you watched past the 2 minutes mark? Man, only watching this guy's double bass technique for 10 minutes isn't enough to appreciate the thousands of hours he invested in all of that...This is a fucking drum god right there!
Louis Gervais No one can deny the hours spent practicing. As a drummer I can understand the effort behind all this and I admire Kollias for that. As a whole, Nile (to me at least) are monotonous and boring. He is a drum go it's just that everything sounds like gunfire. That's all I'm saying...
+john doe Agree. Amazing technique and such, but I just can't take it. Lars is a multi millionaire because he plays music the average rock/metal fan can enjoy. Not fetish extreme metal noise.
+panzerken Don't bring Lars into this. Honestly, millionaire or not, one does not become so lazy that one can't even play their own songs. Most "average rock/metal fans" dislike him because of this.
GEORGE KOLLIAS THE GREEK GOD OF DRUMS!!
It's not just about speed with Kollias. You can compare him with damn near any death metal drummer of the same skill set and you won't find many that can play with the consistent power, precision, and flawlessness that this this man has! He is the fuckin man!

Etherian fields very well said coming from another drummer....Kollias is not "God like" he is a God indeed.
There is only one George Kollias!!!!!!!! Too sick mannnnn!!!!! \m/'O-o'\m/
anyone else notice the stick bobble at 4:04? the fill goes by so fast though unless you are looking ya don't hear it. George is a monster!
Yep, he totally jammed the stick right into the tom he was gonna fill on. I do that shit and the stick is liable to kill someone in the crowd lol
how did you manage to see it, I watched it like 6-7 times trying to figure it out. And that was after I saw you pointing out the exact time it happened.
This is insane
yes it is. ive seen him live.
the fact that he is playing that fast is very impressive, but what is more impressive is the stamina he has for playing that fast. That shit is fucking ridiculous.
George Kollias has unique legs. That's priceless!!
amazing !!!!
Perfect.
Thank you for that reference.
That is the fastest foot work I've ever seen on a double bass.
I can't... It is so sick
Best extreme Drummer on the planet at the moment...
watch his "burn out" video... this guy even looks great(drumwise :D) when he plays jazz and funk
His kit would take a lot longer to mic, the techs would have to be absurdly aware of airflow in the room and around the bass drum, and it may still sound muddy anyway. As a search its one of the few on the tube
to show he is in time the entire time.

Good kick sound
k, so if i get these sticks, they will instantly make me play this good, right?
lol🤣🤣
I would love to see a collaboration between George Kollias and Chris Coleman! That would be a MAJOR drum off between two of the best drummers to walk on the face of this earth. Two different styles, but it would be interesting just for shits and giggles.
I don't like the music, but I fucking love his playing.
people who say death metal drumming is monotonous, then go back to playing 1 & 3 for 75% of whatever genre they consider to be more ""classy".....
lolblic dude how did you manage to misspell his name when it’s in the fucking title? Lmfao 😂
I would correct you saying that Death Metal drummers are pretty monotonous BUT that doesn't mean Death metal drumming is like that. 4:04 Uuuoops!
Point out his one flaw!!! xD
hahaha suele pasar ! xD
lol I just left a comment about 4:04. man it's almost unnoticeable though.
So how often do you get to see a metronome struggle to keep up? Thought so.
wow do u have any vids of those other genres
aff nao canso de ver esse videeo ! so fã desse cara ja ... toca de mais ! Meeus parabéns brother (y)
Metronome. The best teacher for discipline.
exactly
What kind of pedals are those kick pedals?
Holy Shit.
is it really 1x speed?
Alot of noise but woww his speed is crazzyy lol !
Now just constantly say " through the fire and the flames
we carry on"
That foot technique is so fucking awesome
OMG ....fucking great
Faaaaaark!!!!!!! And that is all I have to say about this video, on and Roddy blows
The video on youtube saying Dave grohl is the best drummer should seriously be taken down. That video is misleading the world. I dont get the hype about Dave Grohl. I think he is an okay drummer but he certainly doesnt deserve 1% of the attention he gets.
Type in George Kollias Burn Out on aswarch on the tube for a start
that time signature tho
You mean 4/4? What the hell is so special about 4/4?
listen to the metronome, doesnt sound like 4/4
Escape1988 I am definitely no expert on time signatures but that is not 4/4
at the beginning of the performance.
Yeah, the metronome is not 4/4
I have to ask are you a drummer?
great! George doesn't have to try, he can just sort of.. do it..
Beautiful is what I have to say.
you're totally right, are not musicians, drummers extreme metal technicians and astronauts are not musicians. Meg White is creative.
He's a monster.
your a Monster.
I have a serious music problem - whenever I play Death Metal on my player, during first couple minutes I stop whatever song it's playing and play some Nile instead. :D
Man!
Damn, you're fast...!
θεοςς
It is music; it's all music. I fucking love Nile and George Kollias. Comparing this to jazz and funk is actually kind of disrespectful to the great players in each genre. Speed is not everything. There are many different factors in music that contribute to the difficulty level other than speed.
its all about commercial ;) when you buy this pair of sticks you will play as awesome as george and like a metronome (never off the click :P)
i miss some less regular bassdrums on his play. its mad anyway
It needs more cowbell ;P
Renato Sá I'm not sure there is a cowbell in our universe that can take what George can dish out
Insane drumming, but I love it so!!
The snare sounds better in this video. 265 bpm!
Damn it,metronome..
I think, he has run around the world lol
The drumming is mixed really quietly.
@trommelmann1 i angree with you let's leave out the politics and enjoy that music:'')
Can he play jazz?
Why the clic in a promotional video ???
Would love to see this man jam with Tosin Abasi.
@djulian I do love Alex and Travis, but they couldn't pull off what George can.
Saying that, their playing is far more musical
I think the craziest part is how god damned precise he is
U shouldn't say that!!
What sort of drummer dudes are you if metronome annoys you?
Troll alert! Don't take the bait! I have a gut wrenching feeling "Travis Barker" will make an appearance a number of times in response to any disagreement!
Oh yeah. An you would think if your were gonna be in a Vic Firth Video you would invest in some cymbal polish!!! lol
5:17 = hands moving so fast u cant see them actually move....!!!
Same speed, but you'd only hear sth. like UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU. Yup. Just a low humming noise. ;)
George kollias vs Aaron kitcher
you are honestly complaining about the look of the cymbals?
God? What have you done to him?
;P
he would still have massive power and speed just like before...
sorry, what kind of robot i've saw here?
no interview necessary
I feel bad for his feet and the bass drums.
sure! but its too easy for him ;D
Sorry Sir, it`s all about culture, music, groove, drumming, having fun,

it's like listening to a gatling gun. c'mon.
see he had to stop and slow down because his set would have lit on fire if he kept going..
29 dislikes eh? ok..
No, that's funk...
george is great but holy shit who edited this? its awful you cant actually see him because of the cuts. stick with 3 angles + a foot cam and stop cutting every 2 seconds
go home, lars ulrich, you're drunk!
George looks bored, Roddy looks like hes struggling
All great drummers, bro. But don't try and compare drummers. To each his own, unique special style. If you don't like it, click the dislike button and get out.
Argh, get the interlacing right!!
STUPID!!! Alex Rudinger and Travis Orbin DESTROY George!!!!!!
overreacted on the tsaziki sauce
This gets so boring after a while
Amazing technique and stamina, but this is so boring and monotonous it's painful...
+john doe Wow...I guess everybody has their opinion but have you watched past the 2 minutes mark? Man, only watching this guy's double bass technique for 10 minutes isn't enough to appreciate the thousands of hours he invested in all of that...This is a fucking drum god right there!

+john doe Damn. That's sad to hear because they are anything other than monotonous. Those fucking churning Nile riffs are insane, I love it
+john doe Agree.
Most "average rock/metal fans" dislike him because of this.
amazing player. horrible music.
way to offend the nile fans
It's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me! \m/ FUCKING NILE \m/
Horrrribleee drumming, should see 19 days gavin harrison. thats music
