      love kz. my proudest moment was beating kz_grass_hard. couldn't get a no-fail, but i think i got pretty close to that too. i was most hooked on kz

    • @KingYoshiSurfer
      @KingYoshiSurfer 10 місяців тому +3

      It's definitely the most technical of the big three, not sure about the "hardest". Then again, I rarely played kz so maybe it is. 🤷‍♂️

    • @makis6672
      @makis6672 10 місяців тому +5

      Its for sure the hardest, a skilled kz player can be somewhat proficient in any of the other modes but the same does not apply for skilled players in other modes playing kz.

    • @ronald_gaming6003
      @ronald_gaming6003 10 місяців тому +7

      @@KingYoshiSurfer I would say it’s definitely the hardest. Maps get insanely hard and the skill gap and ceiling is very high. There’s so much to learn in KZ even after understanding the basics. Like you said it’s also the most difficult in terms of technicality. There are some pretty braindead maps in KZ where you don’t even need to know how to strafe or anything and beat a map but even the simplest tier 1 maps can become tier 6 when you try to go fast. I feel like that’s the same in any of the modes but KZ has a lot of options when it comes to routing and combos to hit etc. I also agree with what makis said.

      @@makis6672I can confirm that kz skills doesn't transfer to surf. My irl friend was at a time one of the top kz players. And me myself mainly a surfer. And I can confidently say that he couldn't surf.

    I’m glad you covered death-run. This was a mode I always thought could be a standalone game since I first played it back in 06. Literally, I have no doubt it influenced games like fall guys. Etc.
    Then obviously mini game was huge as well.
    I miss the old days of css when things weren’t about speedruns, but about fun. Something very nostalgic about thinking about surf, pre-timer.

    Playing mg_ course maps is how I got into speedrunning maps in css in the first place! Before there were servers with timers for these maps, the maps often had a built-in time limit by default and would reward people depending on how far they got accordingly (weapons etc). Other times they would just kill everyone once someone makes it to the end. Great vid!

    The original skoutzknives also was a game mode that combined surfing and low grav, very different from Valve's version now in the game. Glass maps (glass_) where you have to break blocks to kill the other team seems to be a game mode that died with CS:Source once CSGO was released.

    i actually used to grind MG course a lot a while ago, it was so hard and fun to learn all the hard maps and techniques. Like i can remember on some maps you had to time everything perfectly to do a non stop run. Like for example learning when all holes/walls or whatever is open without any obstacle in the way and looking at timeleft of map to remember how many seconds it takes to get there and then calculating when to start your run etc. Some maps are actually super nerdy to do with timing etc but ofc some players just ran the map in hopes to be lucky

The goal is to protect yourself against enemy zombies and hunt them once their fall into your trap. You can also get trapped in your own trap once its either poorly made or too hard for you to complete.

    daaamn, i had a feeling it would all lead up to Trikz in the end.
    But damn, this made me nostalgic.
    The countless hours i spent with my mate on trikz servers. Banging our heads against those insane challenges some Maps offered.
    Talking about life, girls and everything while going for the runboost into 3x flash and ultimately failing the bhop section afterwards.
    Feeling so defeat but also crying laughing, just to finally beat a map and having the biggest most victorious adrenaline rush.
    Fuck that shit was insane.
    Or spending hours on a new Trikz map, just for one of us to get the internet shut off at 3 AM because we were screaming to loud beeing happy we finally cleared a new stage.
    Losing all Progress but going again the next day, with more knowledge.
    Damn.. Cs was a different game back then.
    The whole World was different back then to be honest. FUCK.
    Kinda wish we could go back in time, and aprreciate what we had back then.
    Todays CS is all about matchmaking, ranks and shit.
    Back then Gaming was for Fun. With thriving communitys on small servers where you get to know each other.
    I fucking miss this.

      @@amythewolf6314 I hit 275’s with 6 strafes. I’ve noticed for me you can either have a lot of strafes (I can get up to 9) but have terrible sync or I can have a lower amount and I typically sit at 75-85 sync on most of my LJs.

    I haven't heard about Trikz in forever. I would watch some videos on YT but it's so insanely underground

    If you play on Bhop servers you'll have to do all 3 (Bhop, KZ and surf) for some maps, its the actual culmination of the 3, not KZ.
    Cool to see deathrun mentioned though, that's how i started bhopping cause when i played it on Gmod the vast majority of servers would have auto-jump enabled so Bhopping was the meta everyone learned to dodge traps easier, after that i went over to Bhop and the rest is history.
    I pray that CS2's movement game modes will be just as good as CS:GO's, preferably even as good as CS:S', and i hope Valve makes all 3 an official game mode or at the very least surf.
    I don't think Trikz will ever take off however cause it requires very good coordination and you having a partner with you at all times.

    The deathrun speedrun community in 1.6 is def a huge meme especially with autobhop. Most players play at extremly high fps and it becomes sort of a joke since runs were common at 300 or 333 fps, which could be slightly compared to playing auto bhop in css at 300+ tickrate. The most common and respected way of running DR in 1.6 is on default 10aa settings and submitting demos via cosy climbing or other demo sites. Great content regarding all of the CSGO and CSS stuff, but some of the 1.6 stuff thats brought up is kinda inaccurate but I dont think anyone would blame you for that since its extremely hard to find information about alot of this stuff.
    Also thank you for pointing out slide pre-existed counterstrike, it was a common misconception that Mario created it, but he was one of the first to make maps for 100aa. Its annoying making slide maps for 1.6 and it gets attributed to the wrong game mode from css / csgo players since the history and naming got garbled from the transition into csgo kz. And why no shoutout to gateway surf??

    What map at 2:04 ? It’s been years since I’ve seen it, that one was fun. Ended up being a challenge on who could get the fastest start rather than the rest of the map

    kzt = "medium settings" and skz = "buffed settings"? OkayChamp... Wouldn't describe it like this since these are just 2 completely different game modes, both "buffed" differently
