- This guide will give you a rough idea of what to expect within the first 20 turns of a Throt the Unclean campaign on Legendary difficulty for Mortal Empires. There will always be some variations as no two campaigns ever play the same.
After this premiere we'll be livestreaming a campaign of Throt the Unclean for the Vortex campaign. Link to that livestream here: ( • Throt the Unclean Lege... )

TRUE SKAVEN OF HELLPIT YES-YES
Legend circa about a year and half/two years ago: "I don't much like the skaven"
CA: "and I took that personally"
Now if only they'd do that with the Beastmen.
i watched a video of him a week ago the top 5 legendary lords and ikit at no. 2, he gave him minus points because he´s skaven
They get very op with their dlc, but they do need that dlc. I did an Ikit campaign without the Snitch dlc, and found sieges with my weapon-team armies very tedious without the poison wind mortars.
They did suck when they first came out
Can he say he doesn't like Empire? As a fan I'd like to see a few more LLs with crazy units and special mechanics.
This is the craziest, cheesiest, strongest start I've ever seen, hat off to you Legend.
pretty easy when CA decided to give the Skaven a bloated corpse that doesn't hurt the unit at all. Skaven are OP as hell, weird that they would decide to buff the skaven again rather than fix any of their terribly broken civs.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 They only think their op cuz you only really see videos about them winning but throw them in multiplayer then I almost guarantee that 60% of them would give up learning skaven tactics
@@unloyal4847 Warhammer has multiplayer?

The picture of Throt with money, food and juice was decently entertaining.

They should actually make a new skaven general and use Legend’s skaven voice. Would buy dlc :)
The Total War community got Voicesnacks to VA for Throt. Next is Legend. Petition, yes, yes?
@@Unchartedeats thanqual legend of total war perhaps for wh3?
We all know Thanquol has to be legend.
I would prefer a DLC of Legend doing the Viewer voice. "But Legend.."
I'd prefer anything but yet another skaven DLC.
I've never seen Legend enjoying a faction as much as it looks like he enjoys the madness of skaven
If you get a Grom vs Throt disaster battle, will you call it a “food fight”?
This right here is food-for-thought material, yes-yes

Why kill-eat? Are you a thing-thing? Reshape-remake-reform-remould! Make every no-fur (and fur-fur too) a clay to mould, yes-yes!
I would just like to express my appreciation for the fast-forward of ammo-wasting and the use of silly background tune while doing that :P
CA to Wood Elves: "Best I can do is an item with +2 Melee Defence and a few reskins."
CA to Skaven: "Here take this 95 Speed, super high Mass SEM that regenerates, can be healed and also has a built-in Warp Bomb that doesn't even hurt it. Balance."
"SEM"... Surface-To-Elf Missile?
@@sfyoshi99 Single Entity Monster
Oh and an entire overhaul to a faction that already had good units, while adding a very strong cavalry unit. But we'll ignore that for the meme.
@@sfyoshi99 shitty-elf mauler yes-yes
This Cellular Instability strategy is super underpowered. In my first battle against the Kraka Drak Dwarves my mutant rat ogre *only* managed to kill 253 with his explosion, and this *only* managed to instantly break the entire Dwarf army without any of damage having been caused. CA really need to buff Cellular Instability!
I appreciate the musical number with dodging the arrows, kinda makes it fun and seem less grindy.
I find-learn new things-things everytime. Didn't know buildings spawned stronger enemies in revolts.

Legend of total war proved that Skaven is for real in this world

Man...the glee and happyness in his voice when warpbombing the shit out of Dwarves and Kislev...
Gotta love it ! Really makes you want to play some Skaven !
But yeah, up to 19 living Warpbombes per army is just totally and utterly broken. Not that you even need a full warpbomb army XD
oh lord i have waited for this
one of the best guides so far, really great
Love the genuine laughter at 58:32 , Legend truly enjoys the Skaven and clearly Thrott brings great new VA to the table.
He better role-act play as the glorious skaven. Yes-yes
would be fairly interesting to see a brood horror doomstack all with that warpbomb ability...
With their current mass, speed, and regen they’d be ducking unstoppable
i just imagined them charging straight into a staunch line of spears and blowing it up...maybe all at the same time, maybe as the camera drives back you see one after the other and then the explosions go of one after the other

Does anyone else get the feeling to say "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!" whenever he sends the rat ogre into battle?
release the skaven
It's an Ogre. So I got the Feeling to say "Release the Ogre."
Hey Legend, I really like you cutting the boring parts of the playthrough so we don't waste time watching you farming or just looking at loading screens

*Crying in Wood Elves "DLC"
edit:
Throt at turn 20: has access to some cool new units with amazing abilities, almost 3 provinces, 2 armies, decent income
Sisters at turn 20: have glade guard spam, some heathlands, 1 army (2 would break the bank), worse income
(yeah, yeah I know wood elves are slower :P ... it's half joking and half serious)
And 1 tier 4 and 1 tier 5 major settlement. Skaven is insane.
I am in a state of wanting to play and wanting to wait for the DLC that is painful
This had me in stitches!!!! Great video Legend!
Thanks for putting in the work for us legend. I saw you have a ton of views but only a few thumbs and comments so I'm leaving this here to help the algorithm.
Love the vid Legend, you just keep getting better and better.
Imagine Plague Catapult shooting Rat Ogres as ammo :D
The utmost beautiful video made by Legend by far!!!
Happy for Skaven, but man, why not give the Wood Elves a little more love?
They are actually in a good place now - you have to remember the MAIN balance is for MP.
And now the Wood Elves with the heavy cav and the new infantry dmg dealers, can do pretty well. Not to mention how OP the new legendary hero is.
@@cl1cka
Alright, but their campaign is still a mess and most of the player base is playing campaign
@@cl1cka Why would the main balance be for MP when most of the player base just plays the campaign?
Yeah the TW franchise is known for single player not MP
@@rockabady2345 You are kinda right.
That was BEFORE Warhammer.
Now the MP is a very BIG scene, with tournaments every month and big once a year ones like Everchosen.
The balance is done for the MP, cause let's be honest in SP you will always cheese no matter the balance.
For example 6 rattling guns sound awesone in SP - try that shit in MP and you will be out in 2-3 min.....
Check Turin for MP content - he is commentator on a lot of those tournaments and sponsors some as well.
And he does really well breakdown on what units good, why something works or don't and is good at that. On his channel you can find whole tournaments with some of the best players in the world.
Another is DavPlays - he does breakdown on units in MP as well.
Honestly - MP for Warhammer is amazingly fun to watch. It's like a game of chess but more dynamic. Every race has counters-play. Just to watch the macro on some of those insane players is joy....
For example the way Legend plays battles here - won't work in MP. It's entirely different animal to watch.
Try it - check some tournaments.
if only CA put as much effort into the rest of the races as they did with the Skaven or, at the very least, shared the effort out a little bit.
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 no dude. its effort. How many new units, mechanics, legendary lords, upgrade packs, etc, etc, etc have included the Skaven? Yet Beastmen (as just one example) are still WH1 garbage that haven't been updated in years. Even the amount of effort put into the Wood Elf stuff compared to the Skaven stuff in this DLC is blatantly skewed towards the rats.
Rest in peace Skalli Grobi-Nutter. Your constant defeats will be remembered ;_;7

Wow i knew I was going to be salty about how shafted the woodelves got in this update but after seeming this i just have no words. Skaven are actually the strongest faction in everything but economy now. I don't even want to know how bad it is going to be if the AI can use this mechanic properly and spam monster units
yes but they also have eco cheese. So you compare infinity to infinity, just one takes longer to get there.
58:29: 10/90 power balance - "Yeah I think we can win"
Holy shit the skaven are looking broken as hell. If CA doesn't nerf this I don't see a single stack that can possibly even come close to beating a good Skaven doomstack. ridiculous.
@Padraig Lane I've played literally hundreds of hours. A brood horror doomstack with cellular instability is literally an army of bloated corpses that don't die once they explode. Put a few warplock jezels in that army and it's practically unbeatable.
@LegendofTotalWar, I love the content and the way you think. Has been very helpful in improving my play. I like to start a campaign then look at your videos to see how the master does it. I learn so much from you, thank you. Cheez for the cheez God!

Well, I can officially say the Brood Horrors are still about as effective as they were when you made this video. I had to fight Throgg and the Brood Horror I had possessed a higher mass pass. Routinely knocked Throgg on his ass for about a minute. The Brood Horror also made mince meat out of his ice drake.
The rats charging at 13:33 😹
Legend of Throt-al War here!
Really good guide and entertaining as well. Thanks!
I'm not sure if they sent you a slightly different version of this DLC legend, but I'm playing on hard and the Kraka Drak dwarves have more units than your save, and the neighboring chaos factions have literally been declaring war on me nonstop.
Yeah, I noticed that after you take the capital of the province, the dwarfs have already recruited a lord in the the first city you sacked and spam an army and a half of Miners by the time you get there...
Wolf rats are hilarious to watch running about
wonder if this still works in WH 3
Having horrible luck upgrading the rat ogre at turn 1 lmao. Finally got it after about 20 tries and it was so worth it. Have two brood horrors in that army as well so much fun blowing shit up lol
Picked up Warhammer 2 yesterday on Steam. Gonna binge play all weekend. Torn between Vampire counts and Skaven for my first campaign.
Skaven
If you're playing the Legend way, Vampire Counts require a lot of practice with maximizing your Winds of Death casts, wasting enemy ammo, breaking line-of-sight between your blobs and Empire artillery, the campaign map having enemies in three different directions, bad economy, corruption, public order, etc. Skaven need finesse, but feel highly rewarding to get right, imo.
The first faction to get used to the game with is the High Elves. It's pretty much just a First 5 Turns Guide to get established, when going with Tyrion (your home province is enough to set you up for the rest of the game, while constantly shopping for Lords with Punitive, Heroes with Entrepreneur, and Light mages for the Net spell), and - if you have the Queen & Crone DLC - they get the Sisters of Avalorn doomstacks, which Alarielle can build *very* quickly.
Oh, yeah. You need DLC to play Skaven. CA shipped them with basically half of an army list, in the vanilla game. Prophet & The Warlock has the weapon teams, nukes, etc. Shadow & The Blade has Clan Eshin. That makes three DLCs, where the Skaven get an incredible buff with fun new mechanics, and the other race in the pack gets next to nothing.
Don't overextend. Skaven need to build walls, before moving onto the next province. The walls aren't for siege battles, but for sallies. You hide the garrison in trees, summon Menace Belows in the middle of the enemy army, use Warp Bombs on them, run away, rinse, repeat.
EDIT: The December 3rd patch is going to be a huge nerf to the Vampire Counts (double cost & upkeep on heroes, when their most efficient armies are free skeletons with a ton of already-expensive heroes), so I definitely recommend copying the game with the current patch somewhere where Steam won't touch it.
@@futonrevolution7671 wow, thanks mate. Never gotten such a detailed response before. I’m going to make sure I got all the dlc while it’s on sale and give it a go. Thanks again!
You're very welcome! Feels like I was really pushing Skaven, there, but I've played a lot more of them, than Vampire Counts. I've got twitchy hands, so I can't do intense micromanagement or click-and-drag wind-type spells into position. With Vampires, you can get the tech for free skeletons, by turn 10. With how often the AI tries to outflank you, having your skellingtons be in a tight blob turns them into a velcro ball with no flanks. With the enemy stuck in place, especially if they're aggro'd onto a Mortis Engine in the middle of the blob, you drag Winds of Death spells 120 degrees to either side to shave them off. The problem comes, when Empire mortars have line-of-sight to your blob. By then, your vampire heroes should hopefully have flying mounts and can dive-bomb the enemy artillery and summon zombies on top of archers to hold them in place for more Winds of Death. Snap up every hero with the Knowledgeable or Disciplined traits that you can, but the ones with Lore of Vampires spells are your killers.
High Elves have a bit of an early noob trap with how good the Lothern Sea Guard look on paper. They're not as good at being spearmen, than spearmen are, and not as good at being archers, than archers are. Other than that, Tyrion's easy, able to pick any of the four directions to expand on the doughnut, with his diplomacy boost keeping the other three directions from getting involved. My biggest speedbump with Alarielle is that her beginning siege unit is Treekin, rather than artillery, so taking the Phoenix Gate is painful. You can either disband them for cash & turtle up, until you can get artillery, or keep the Treekin for awhile, use Ambush stance if there's an army hiding in the Phoenix Gate into coming out for a field battle & do an endrun west through your ally's mountain pass to wipe out your tutorial enemy's capital.
Watching these, I'm honestly kind of glad I haven't tried Legendary difficulty. Props to whoever plays on that difficulty. It's a huge challenge, I'm sure. It just seems like the amount of cheese you have to include in every turn in each one of these starts seems like it'd kill the atmosphere for me. I'll stick to very hard. A challenge is fine, but many of the steps that seem necessary to a successful run feel really artificial.
Love the series though. I will be happy to keep watching you play.
for sure, when coming up with cheese strats is better and more fun to deal with your highest diffculty you fucked up something, when difficulty = AI cheating and getting a bunch of BS stat buffs and you get nerfed, to the point skavenslaves are as good as your dwarf warriors you didn't actually make a difficulty you made a time dump
That victory at fort straghov... incredible skills
I got 2 brood horrors with regen and massive charge bonus and they have been carrying me against the Norscan tribes. Literally been wiping them out with just the 2 brood horrors and everything else hiding.
Poor Cracker Jack dwarves, they never knew what was coming
I think the Cellular Instability on turn one has been patched. Every time I have tried it I always get all four instabilities and then Cellular Instability is too expensive to get. I don't know if this is just my bad luck but I've tried this at least ten times and the wolf rats get all four instabilities every time
You can't just save scum the same campaign. I think they keep the random seed for it, now. Restart a completely new campaign each time you have to try it.
It's funny how many people watch Legend and love his play style, but then complain like crazy and basically tattle-tale to CA about the cheese he finds.
CA slighty reduce the amount of growth, because i can't upgrade hellpit before turn#11 -_-
Even we don't care about economy, just considering battles in campaign that wood elves are supposed to be strong and enjoyable:
Skaven: 95 speed and self regenerating moving warpbomb that can easily plows through enemy infantry line, explodes and deals no damage to itself. A new hero with a brood horror mount, tons of abilities to buff the army including regenerating monsters, 4 summoned wolf rats.
Wood elves: 32 unit size glass cannon cavalry, reskined dragon orge (which is quite decent with the spells but not as impactful), a new hero that looks like a nerfed handmaiden whose biggest purpose might be increasing mobility.
Why CA is so generous in buffing skaven and so stingy in buffing wood elves?
However I do think CA will nerf the warpbomb skill in the lab. It will either start to cost health to single entities or make the unit exhausted like dark conduit.
Maybe they’re being careful in case ai wood elves decide to conquer the world?
@@IliterateAshole It could easily be scripted letting them being passive and not having many armies.
old timey music and Spongebob ftw
Man the skaven get way too much stuff. It seems like nearly every dlc is for the skaven now and they just get all these broken mechanics.
They dont get too much stuff, it's just that no one else gets any stuff.
Filthy no-furs should bow kneel before Ikit Claw!
I mean, they use these mechanics to keep up. One of their two lorea of magic can be reduced Basically to "Use this to make sure your units don't die"
They are a low leadership faction, which now that I think about it, Grim got Groms Cauldron, eltharion got infinate ammo on any faction ranged unit. Wood Elves Sisters got 2-3 uses of Talons of Kearnos per Hawk Riders.
I'm not doing to deny power creep over basegame but Skavem aren't that incredulously favored
Here’s hoping when Kislev becomes playable they also add in some extra playable vampires like Ulrika
your dreams came true!
glad to see skryer weapon teams meta has competition
In a crisis, i switch the slingers to melee and send them in just to buy a minute to counter. They're really really useful, basically free units
Okay, 17:35 made me spit my coffee.
Looks like you are enjoying this new Skaven content
I'm relatively new to the game and am watching this to figure out how Clan Moulder work in campaign. @ 20:01 he says that its a decisive victory so thats what's important. do the different ratings of battles have any effect in the aftermath? like regen or money earned?

17:32 gave me a good laugh. Finally don't have to fast forward haha
15 mins into this video & there are already more stuff than that 7 hours WE streams.
I like Throt, he looks so happy :)
1:36:26 so unfair, those halberds also wanted that warpbomb and came running. I understand there can only be one last winner but those halberds also defended that city so they deserve some recognition as well.
You can just sack cheese the first dwarf settlement for about 5 turns until the army comes, then switch to the Kizlev minor settlement right next to the Hell Pit - Kizlev almost never attacks you and neither do the dwarfs. Once you get a few levels this campaign in easy asf, the powercreep is ridiculous.
When I try the "Cellular Instability" turn one trick I can get it without too many instabilities but then there isn't enough mutagen to put it on the Rat Ogre? Am I doing something wrong?
Geez. My poor wood elves got a Trump University kinda deal in that DLC :(
Just a thought if you haven't already done so, but it would be super easy to come up with an ammo waster macro that just clicks two spots close to each other at whatever rate you set. Could save some hand strain/boredom.
I think they anti cheesed this map 22:33. I tried it just now and it seems the towers can hit you even at the very edge of the map. It was pretty difficult but I managed to trick the AI into moving back and forth across the wall since they would only control a few towers at a time. I got lucky but I think CA watches these videos.
when the music kicked i spit my cofffee out
for the next one I'd love to see Wulfrik the Wanderer, I allways get just attacked by every faction in contact before 20 turns :D
It's sad that the Wood Elves got nerfed while already being not that strong and the already super strong skaven got even more. Get ready for the Skaven to own the entire new world coming from all sides. Clan Mors, Eshin and Skrye already take over the entire map in my games currently. Haven't seen them getting smacked down in a long while.
I experience the opposite; Grimgor usually win the Badlands Bowl® and Skaven is pretty much nowhere to be found.Same thing goes in Naggarond or Estalia.
@@Kyrkby yeah sometimes it's a struggle between grimgor and the skaven, but eventually they take over as clan mors and eshin will never go to war with each other and basically have the perfect geographical setup and eventually will Confederate.
I mean that’s pretty much the canonical result, so balanced?
@@mcmarkmarkson7115 I agree, played the twilight sisters and completed the legendary campaign. It's such a different approach to all the other races and I've had the most fun out of all the campaigns I did so far. And their roster is still super strong. Money isn't as tight as I thought it would be. You won't be rich, but you can field many armies still.
That Skaven voice he's doing :'D
Clan Moulder was my favorite skaven campaign.
I’ve really never liked playing as shaven even after ikit claw came to be. Just don’t particularly like playing as them. Mabye because I’m not very good at utilizing rattling guns and the like. But playing as throat is so much damn fun lmao. Great guide man. My campaign played out slightly differently early on(Norsca came down and starting razing settlements I was gonna harvest for food) but made it work just fine. So satisfying watching my brood horrors wreck an army lmao
Great editing!
"keep losing till you win" i didnt realise you were following skaven doctrines quite so literally
Turn 3 tier 4 settlement yep this new legend skavenlord seems pretty good :0
An army of walking bomb, welp, they did it folk.
I'm struggling really hard with the Bordkarag battle against a full stack of miners 35:00. One of my several attempts I got 300kills with the warpbomb and still can't get close to killing all the miners.
I love how he´s slowly turning into a skaven ahhahaa. I bet he screams WARPSTONE from time to time when nobody watches ......
I watch these purely for Legend's Skaven impressions
