I once saw a spindly man carrying a stone larger than his head upon his back. He stumbled beneath the weight, shirtless under the sun, wearing only a loincloth. He tottered down a busy thoroughfare. People made way for him. Not because they sympathized with him, but because they feared the momentum of his steps. You dare not impede one such as this. The monarch is like this man, stumbling along, the weight of a kingdom on his shoulders. Many give way before him, but so few are willing to step in and help carry the stone. They do not wish to attach themselves to the work, lest they condemn themselves to a life full of extra burdens. I left my carriage that day and took up the stone, lifting it for the man. Watching this contraption in use, I am completely mystified by what could possibly be going on inside it - keys being pressed, a metal handle being turned in opposite directions, and strings. Who invented this? How do you figure out how to play it? Hundreds of years ago I might’ve thought this was some kind of magic.
Even the cheapest ones cost thousands of dollars because they are made to order so their manufacturing process is pretty much the trade secret of the individual craftsman. Unless you commit yourself to an apprenticeship you won't be able to find what you're looking for.
That's a Weichselbaumer. Dominic is right, this would be a few thousand Euros + waiting time if you wanted to order one. Don't even think about building one yourself - even dedicated violin luthiers have trouble building basic models, let alone a monster like this one.

Like the black waves are just about to come over the top of me, engulfing me in all the negative energy I so desperately try to hide from. I put this song on loop and listen to it for hours. I play World of Warcraft to keep my mind busy, I put this song on, and let the drumming and droning take over my ears. Drown out all the black, and focus on just playing the game. It then starts to feel like I can calm down enough to get some sleep after an hour or two. Thank you for this. I mean that with my whole heart. Еще раз благодарю вас.
Watching this contraption in use, I am completely mystified by what could possibly be going on inside it - keys being pressed, a metal handle being turned in opposite directions, and strings. Who invented this? How do you figure out how to play it? Hundreds of years ago I might’ve thought this was some kind of magic.
A pleasant mournfulness. A beautiful melancholy.
Does anyone know where I can get information of the materials and manufacturing of his Hurdy Gurdy?
Even the cheapest ones cost thousands of dollars because they are made to order so their manufacturing process is pretty much the trade secret of the individual craftsman. Unless you commit yourself to an apprenticeship you won't be able to find what you're looking for.
Internet. You're on it now in case you weren't sure.
That's a Weichselbaumer. Dominic is right, this would be a few thousand Euros + waiting time if you wanted to order one. Don't even think about building one yourself - even dedicated violin luthiers have trouble building basic models, let alone a monster like this one.
@Conflux I answered the question lol
Go to Hungary or some other Eastern European country. They're pretty popular there.
Thanks for taking me back to place Ive never been 1000 years ago
I would like to thank “Sea of Thieves” for introducing me to this instrument
❤ when a "Like" just isn't enough.
