When I was a kid my mother would make caponata sandwiches for my school lunches. The other non- Italian kids would gather round and ask me what kind of sandwiches were those in kind of a mocking way. I would say "caponata "! ( Like didn't everyone know what caponata was?). To this day I still enjoy those sandwiches!!!👌

I got a job at Carluccio's in Worcester, England. That is where I first discovered caponata. I fell in love immediately.
Caponata is hands down one of my favourite foods on this planet.

I do it with almond so you can feel the nuts, and serve it with flat toasted bread or rice 😊

      . This time caponata
      with canned tuna
      Over linguine.(no eggplant)
      Olives
      Green pepper
      Celery
      Onions
      Garlic
      Tomatoes (1 cup)
      Oregano
      Bay leaf
      Black pepper
      Red pepper flakes
      Tastes better the next day.

But I was always told to add celery. I just thought, maybe she did and I missed it.

Finally, somebody who adds sugar. Otherwise it's too sour for me, with the tomatoes and the vinegar.

    • @DeliMeatTree

Always add sugar, that's what makes caponata the best.

it would be really nice to have the link to the original video without the English Audio Dubbing, not to be rude but I turned the sound off and put on subtitles because that English lady narrating the cooking is very annoying. It would be really nice to have an authentic recipe with the voice of the cook/chef, not an actress/production person, it ruins the video for me, but luckily there is a way to mute the English lady. Thank you for this video, the dish looks very delicious!!

Giallo Zafferano Is a Channel of Authentic italian cuisine. All the videos seen in UA-cam about "italian recipes" are 90% fake and they would be considered weird in Italy, expecially those of italian americans. I have in mind a long list of "italian" food never seen in Italy (and i'm 48 y.o.).

So true! Thank you. The pronunciation of things are strange too:/ here in America…I’ve been going to Palermo since I was 20 so for 33 years…and have always been amazed at this fact.

I’m sure most of that list is found in Italy in towns you have no idea exist.
