I purchased a new oil filter for my 2015 Sonic but it came with two O-rings. One large O-ring and a much smaller one. What is the smaller O-ring for?

Thanks for posting this. I was dreading changing the oil on this car, I thought it will be a hassle so I don't have a lift. But everything is so within reach, I don't need to jack it up or anything.
