Oh this is a rare review. Thanks for uploading it. I owned this exact car for over 4 years, from 2015 to 2019. They are actually pretty stout and reliable *once the gremlins are forced out.*
Compared to the latest 2023 G70 7-series, this thing looks positively demure. I never understood the initial backlash of this car's design. Inside and out, this (as well as most of the 2000s Bangle designs) look a full decade newer than they actually are and the designs have seriously stood the test of time, not to mention inspired plenty of copycats.
It was hugely controversial when it came out and when you compare it to how the 7-Series evolved prior to that, it's easy to see. The main sticking points for most people were the 'Bangle butt' trunk lid and the iDrive controls. I was 15 when this car came out and I think it's aged very well. It looks better now than it did when it was new and, compared to a lot of modern designs, it's actually quite restrained.
I always thought these were gorgeous i didn't understand why people didnt like them but i was 6 when they came out in 02 and didnt have a preconceived idea of what it should be. I still think it's beautiful and they were everywhere in my area so they sales were there too.

Man that car was a game changer during that time, 2002 was a good year in technology level
Looks a lot better than the latest 7 series.
no it does not. e65 - ugliest 7 ever.

It couldn’t have been that bad. This is more or less the design they used for the next 20 years.

It looks like late-2000s at worst
Not a driver's car, very unreliable car, I'll take an E38 over this any day ...
It is 20% cheaper to maintain with service and fuel consumption is better so I would take this. The rustprotection is also way better.
