  • It was always a dream to own a 5-cylinder turbo Audi and earlier this year I got to realise that dream by bringing back an Audi S6 C4 that was off the road for over 10 years.
    This is the first of many Retro Garage projects to come and I'm excited to share what it has turned into so far.

    Literally just picked up a 95 manual avant last weekend. So ready to start modding it and cleaning her up.

    Beautiful car, I love it! I had an A6 of this shape in the identical colour but only 1.8 😌. I hope to see it somewhere at the show in Ireland.

    I am reviving a C4 S6 Avant 4.2 right now and happy to see there's someone else out there who is as crazy :) going in for a full suspension refresh this week and doing a 17z conversion as well. Thx!

    Loving the car! Personaly im much more fan of a original engine with just a 303 chip. A original engine setup is almost more rare than modified ones :o

    Always nice to see someone preserving these first generation S4/S6 models. Not too many of them in the world in automatic form (thankfully) but like you said, that can be rectified. I also love the Avants and did own one for a while but ultimately sold it to add a second UrS4. As far as power goals, that depends on what you want to do with the car. If you're not touching the bottom end or doing full engine rebuild stay 400 HP or under. If you want to build an absolute beast, reach out to Jeff Gerner here in the States for a roadmap on how to go about making big power... he's Mr. Bonneville salt flats UrS4 if you're unaware. Cheers and happy holidays!

      I’m 27 so I was too late to the party of the forums but I’m trying to keep the love for these cars alive. I’ve a 1991 20v coupe quattro, Audi 80 Cabriolet and Audi 80 avant also and promoting these to our 300k+ followers on Instagram and tiktok. Going to start sharing more on UA-cam here too in January.
      Plan is to initially stick to under 400 mark and get it to a point where I’m happy, build up another project (maybe Audi maybe not) and when that’s done and I’ve the funds to do an engine build that won’t take years I’ll get that done while I’ve another car to play with.
      Jeff is amazing I have him on Facebook and will reach out soon

      @@RetroGarageOfficialShould look for a 91 200 20v, soooooo much fun to drive. Not as refined as the Urs4's, but more fun driving.

    Any chance you'd be down with shipping over some S6 plus bits? Like a headliner, window trim, etc?

    • @RetroGarageOfficial
      @RetroGarageOfficial  7 місяців тому

      Afraid I don’t have any spare S6 plus bits. This car left the factory with all the s6 plus goodies as the V8 S6 plus Never made it to the UK so they added all the goodies to some of the five cylinder ones

    Love the car! From the golden age of S-cars when they were discreet and classy.
    I ran a 100 S4 back in the late 2000s and it's still one of the best cars I've ever owned. A good friend picked up a timewarp C4 S6 Avant a few months ago and is really enjoying it. He posted a little video walkround here ua-cam.com/video/-ZW5NnjWAtk/v-deo.html.
    From what we gather, the biggest limitation on increasing power is the stock intercooler. There were a few companies producing front-mount kits 10-15 years ago, but these seem to be no longer available and were seemingly for the bigger US bumpers. They'd likely require hacking up the bumper even if you could find one.

      @RetroGarageOfficial  4 місяці тому

      Yeah personally my favourite era, I’ve a 20v coupe Quattro, Audi 80 Cabriolet and Audi 80 Avant aswell.
      Going to figure out the intercooler setup, hoping that we are able to get more space efficient inter cooler cores to allow us to make the most of the space we have

    This is Audi S4 C4, model is A6, but this is S4

    • @RetroGarageOfficial
      @RetroGarageOfficial  7 місяців тому +6

      No, this is a S6 C4. The S4 C4 was the prefacelift that was based on Audi 100. They changed the name of the standard version C4 from 100 to A6 during the facelift. When they did the facelift they also changed the name of the sports version from S4 to S6.
