I started working for Chrysler Dealer when these were new. I remember the Technical Service Bulletin to address the water leaks was a book. They all leaked a Lebaron Convertible was way more water tight for not a lot more money.

When I was a teenager, my grandma had a 1992 Bonneville that was the crappiest car I think I’ve ever seen in my life. When she finally decided to replace it after 18 years, I tried desperately to talk her out of getting another Pontiac, but she had her heart set. She came home with a 2008 Grand Prix with the non-supercharged 3800 V6. I had to admit that the newer Grand Prix was built a thousand times better than the old 1992 Bonneville. Whatever GM did in 2004 when they redesigned the Grand Prix, they did it right and finally went back to making good cars again. Goodness knows how bad GM sucked in the 1990’s.

2025 now, I bought my 2003 new in 2002 with 7 miles on it and still have it. Lazer blue mica with 97,000 miles and the 5 speed transmission. Love this car.

25 year review. My 1999 GT Convertible automatic does 0 to 60mph today in 4.9 seconds. Thanks to modern tuning and a few well understood power mods. Love how after 25 years and 84k miles its still needed nothing more than gas and oil changes and rides better now then it did then. I have never even seen the check engine light yet? This type of reliability should be studied by young engineer's over at the Big Oval to see if they can crack the code once again.

in early 1992, the local Volvo dealer offered me a leftover '91 940 Turbo for 23K (which was exactly my budget). As a 25 year old at the time, I was very aware that this did not fit my young single image, but I always had a soft spot for Volvos since the 1976 Volvo 242 DL that I owned when I was 18. If they offered me a black or dark green one, I would have taken it. The only color choice was white, and so I didn't. If it was an SE, I would have had trouble resisting even a white one.

These cars make stupid low end torque almost v8 esque

I had one, that was suped up and damn was that thing great! You lightly pressed the gas and it yanked you into your seat. I miss it 😥

This is the best E Class Mercedes ever made. Even today they look modern especially the interior. And the interior build and material quality was better than any that came after it. Electrical issues aside, these are mechincally Bulletproof and drive smoother and softer than the W212 that came after it and felt more substantial and solid than the W213. We'll wait and see about the W214 especially since modern Merc build and interior quality is awful. It's so sad there's no more regular V8s. The early 2000s was a golden era for German automobiles. Now we get cheaply built, poor quality and 4 cylinders only. Sad. The W211 even came in a V8 diesel in the E420 cdi. Oh my heart.

I still laugh knowing that these reviews know NOTHING of what people actually wanted. The throw them into curves, slam them in the track violently, all the while talking about how they feel like marshmallows...yet this one made it to 2011 and could have had another 10 years if given the chance.
