Thanks for this fantastic video, Jared. I just oredered 3 of these kits with 1 & 2 TB Samsung drives. I wanted to let folks know that they have GREATLY improved the included screwdriver. It also has a magnetic tip. Speaking of tips, if you are using these Samsung drives, repurpose the tray it came in as a mini work area, this way, you won't lose those tiny screws.
Funny enough, I am watching this video haven stripped the supplied torx driver. I wish I watched this in more detail before ordering the Lunchbox as I would have ordered the T5 Torx driver at the same time. All good, got one a day later and now putting this all together. Thanks for making the video.
Jerad, you mentioned the Lunchbox version two supports higher write/read speeds, how so? the Lunchbox is purely a case for the drive, and in no way affects speed of the drive?
Am I the only person who's wondering, if Andycine know the dimensions of the Samsung SSD board and can machine a unit for it to fit perfectly, why on earth can't the thermal pads be pre-cut to fit?? I don't understand why they supply rectangular pads that have to be cut down to size... 🤷🏾♂️
Easier to mass produce a fixed size versus have a machine precision cut to be the exact size of the ssd size. If you cut it down the middle, you literally have about 1mm of extra length on the long end that does not effect the mounting inside the Lunchbox
Hi, thank you for the great video. I installed a 1TB SSD, and it's working perfectly. However, I bought a second one, a 2TB Samsung, and it doesn't fit in. It's larger. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Thx just bought it!!!both!!! Question Evo prores raw HQ doable or kangourou sign will appear(drop frame) Hard to find sustained write speed info Thx for answering Fil
The andycine doesn't connect to the ninja sata connector flush like the atomx ssd mini does. It leaves something like a 5mm gap, when the ssd mini leaves a 1mm gap
Hi! Are You not afraid of not using any kind of static protection during procedure? As it was safe inside of the drive's box, then outside it's quite fragile and vulnerable to any short circuit for those low voltage components on the board. Going further with this point of view - is it safe to use it direct to the metal plates? How about it conduction? From the side of thermopad it looks secured, but from the other one? Thanks in advance for a reply ;)
The product description says only the 1TB and 2TB models are supported, I have a stack of 4TB drives so was wondering the same. I found some photos online that show the reason, the board is a different shape. On the part that sticks out towards the bottom right on the one shown here, it is about twice the size to accommodate 2 more of the square black storage chips (which makes sense assuming each IC is 1TB on a dual sided PCB, 1TB and 2TB would occupy the same footprint, while 3TB and 4TB would be roughly twice the physical size) all that being said, I would love andycine to make a model compatible with the 4TB drives!
@@InfoSec_Tori I have 3 Atomos Ninja V's and all of them, I have installed 4tb WD Blue SSD's. They do work eventhough on the Atomos site states "tested with 1tb and 2tb".
Didn’t have any problems using the Andycine tool, U just have to keep constant pressure in the screw head. Additionally using the screws from the V or Connect caddies let the Lunchbox and Connect work together…
These are great, but until they fix the screws sticking up and not being flush with the top, this is not compatible with the Atomos CONNECT module for the Ninja V.
@@jarvismorrison9328 wondering how using the 3 together ended up working out for you. I have the V and connect and am considering the lunchbox too. Even if the screws clear, are you able to get the drive in and out of the ninja v / connect since it's so small / tucked in?
@@kanerifilms, I tried the screws from the Connect and Ninja V caddies on the lunchbox tops and they work great. No clearance issue with the connect sliding into place…👍🏾
I had the same issue. The supply driver is one size too small and just straps. Fortunately I had the appropriate size from replacing an iPhone screen. Otherwise the lunchbox series is fantastic!

Excellent, it work like a charm with my Ninja Ultra. Thanks!

USB protocol effects the read and write speeds.
@@jeradcamera but again, the lunchbox itself is purely a chassis and has no effect on usb protocol?
I agree. I was thinking the same thing. It should have no effect on speeds.
I'm looking to pick up a Atomos Ninja V and I stumbled upon the Lunchbox II. Thanks for the breakdown! This video sold me on it.
What type of screwdriver are you using for opening up the EVO back please? Was hoping deets would be in the notes!

what screw drive would you use? I've just got some of these now and the driver you get is awful. But i don't see a link to the driver you used.

My understanding is that the ninja only supports 2 TB. I'd love to find out if the 4 TB option functions.

WOW, Jerad! Great Video. Thank you! Is the 870 EVO working properly with the NINJA V? Please share your experience
After hearing you say AndyCine I want to hear you say cine as in cinema
Great video.
For other 860 EVO 2TB users, it's bigger than the 870 and won't fit.
I just bought the Andycine II unit (EDC) but it's too big for my EVO 870. What have I bought/done wrong?
I’m not sure. That drive should fit just fine. The EDC is made for 2.5” SSD drives.
What is the storage space on your EVO 870? @lightninginabottleuk
Useful, thanks :)
The drive is not listed as a supported drive on their website
