- How to TIE a Spinnerbait! Spinnerbait Tip! One of the Best Lures for Catching Fish
I have been fishing with these lures for a long time, and some of my first memories of catching that big one was on a Spinnerbait. Whether it was bumping logs, or taking it down grass and lilly pad edges the Spinnerbait was a go to lure for catching quality fish for my early years of bass fishing. The one key component that gets overlooked and makes you miss sleep when you miss a big one is the knot. It should be one of the main things to consider especially since they can run in some of the thickest stuff and cut line.
Let me know what Knot you tie onto your Spinnerbait, or your overall favorite knot for your lures.

Found this wed site what I needed to know thank so much. First time spinner bait user.
Thanks this is helpful, I couldn't tie my spinner bait then I watched the video and it helped
That made me happy! Thanks bud!
Subscribed! I need to learn. Keep them coming please
Awesome, I sure can bud
It's a good easy knot to tie, especially in the dark hours of the night to a spinner lure. I plan on doing some night fishing this year due to the days being quite hot. Bass head for deeper water when it's hot to stay cooler, and it's not so good for the fisherman as well with the sun beating down on you. Wear some heavier clothing to ward off the pesty bugs and enjoy some cooler night fishing where the bass come into shorelines to feed in the cooled down water. Fish rely mainly on sound vibes at night to follow a lure and attack with a steady retrieve, so a less bright lure is all that is needed to catch those big ones. Color and bright bait lures aren't always needed where a dark or black lure will do just as well at night. The bass go after the sound vibes more-so and can't see as well as they do during the daylight hours.
Yes you got that right Wayne. That night fishing is so much fun. I used to do it and have a blue light with me plugged in and go fishing all night long.
You’re awesome excellent teacher
Thank very helpful
Your welcome Brian!
Great tips. Also good explanation of the knot.

You are welcome bud, glad I could help.
Love your videos! Have you thought about doing a fan meet and greet like at a lake here in or around San Antonio would be neat and fun!
I havent that would be cool. It would be fun to talk to a bunch of other people about fishing around San antonio. Good idea bud

Thanks man, new to bass fishing and I’m going with some friends tomorrow. I dropped a sub as well keep up the good work man
I hope you catch them Ben. Thanks bud
Nice video 👍👍
Thanks bud
Spinnerbaits are the best….:day or night….they cast well are weedless…have flash and vibration…..you can fell the lure….always know where it is and what it’s doing….all I use….everything else is second rate
Yes you got that right Peter. Spinner baits can be one of the best lures still today and a lot of people want to choose a chatterbait over a spinnerbait. Not me
Wouldn’t have thought about adding a plastic to a spinner nice idea
It definitely works. Thanks bud

Enjoyed your video. But I would like to know is a baitcasting reel or a spinning reel preferred when using spinnerbaits. I've been fishing about 2 years and I'm still learning. I have never used a spinnerbait before, but I'm starting to learn to experiment with different types of lures
Hey Ralph, for me it is much easier to cast and fish with a bait caster. The only thing is there is practice and a learning curve with a bait caster. The only thing with a spinning reel and using a spinnerbait is the bait can get hit a lot of times as soon as it hits the water and you can miss a lot of fish because of the time between reeling and flipping the bail with a spinning setup.
Thank you. I will use a baitcaster. I have gotten fairly decent with it I just have to adjust to the weight of a spinnerbait versus a plastic worm
They seem well made and should be great for bass!
Oh yes! Most definitely David!

That was a improved cinch knot
What’s a good bait caster set up for me to start with? And line size ? I’ve always used spin cast reels. Thanks !😊
I started with just a $50 combo from Walmart with 10 or 12 lb monofilament
Great video, very helpful

What is the perfect line size set up?
I like to use at least 10- 15lb monofilament on a baitcaster. I have used braid before in the same size when fishing alot of brush, but mainly mono.
Would it still hold if I accidentally cut the tag end a little too short?
I’m would just retie it. Your taking a chance if you hang a big one
Hell yea Derek
Thank ya bud!
I usually use those plastic lures. I hesitate on using spinner baits or other different types of lures just because I'm not sure how or where to use them. Thanks for the tips!
I use spinnerbaits just about everywhere. They can be some of the best lures to use just about everywhere
Spinners are used everywhere, like if the water is muggy and cloudy, hard to see, I use bright white spinners with the best vibration and shine, if the waters are clear and not to dirty, I use a dark to mid light color spinners.
I’m new to using spinnerbaits do you have to rig it? Or can you cast it as is?
You can run them straight from the store and don’t need modification to really catch fish. It’s casting in the right places and making sure the blades are flashing correctly that matters most.
Is it normal for the line to wrap around the spinnerbait at times? If not how do you avoid that?
It sure isn’t.
If I hear your correctly it sounds like you might have line memory and it’s curling on the cast. Try putting on new line and giving it a try. I hope that helps bud
@@TBassFactory what I mean is my knot moves around and it gets tangled with the gold spoons. Am I not tying it correctly?
Great video friend

Would using this setup with twelve pound mono be ideal to do?
Im also pretty new to fishing and this video along with the many others out there have helped me out a lot. Keep up the great stuff man. 👍
Yes I would use 12 lb mono with this setup. It’s easier to make good accurate casts with lighter line you just have to be more careful when you get one on not getting the line into anything and letting the fish fight it out. Thanks bud
Can we use swivel for it?
You sure can but I don’t it can affect the action or make the bait turn sideways on the retrieve
Can you use it without the soft plastic
You sure can and it will actually hang up in trees less without it. The lure will roll right over a limb
Awesome video
Thanks spencer

Would a spinner still be useful on a snap or swivel?
It can be because it is a moving bait but if your trying to run it shallow it can add weight and make it sink more and the added weight on the front can make it run differently.
@@TBassFactory thank you !
I used the white spinner like this, and I added a Mino lure to it, I caught 4 Bass in less than an hour, my son caught 2. A helpful tip to add a lure with a spinner 👍
Yes I like to add a lure a lot of the time if I need a bigger profile but that lure will hang up in trees 90% more of the time. Good job on the catches Eric and getting your son on em!
@@TBassFactory I like thoughs spinners in kinda open and murky water, if it is heavy trees, I'll fish with something else.
Cant follow along at all, with how fast you went and how the camera is angled I still have no idea what I’m doing
I’m sorry bud. You can do it. Maybe it’s a little easier on something else. Yea hope you get it bud.
Does it matter what color the swim baits are?
I try to stay with natural colors. Browns, greens, silver, white , blue but if it’s more stained water I will use a little more bright colors like chartreuse.
@@TBassFactory Perfect. I have some lime green swim baits lying around and some pretty brown lakes too. Thanks for the help.
Thanks

Hey my name is Reggan and I work with Nikko fishing baits do you have a Facebook or Instagram where I can reach out to you?
Yes sir I have Instagram at creek_factory. Love nikko baits one of my favorites on the creek. I haven't even expanded my arsenal outside of the helgrammite because every time I throw it I tear them up. Thanks bud
Can we catch salmon with this
I'm sure with the flash and the size of salmon they will probably try to kill a spinnerbait
It was a spinner that got my my PB
Oh yeah tyler, they catch good ones and are fun to fish with. I got my first Pb on the spinnerbait and loved it ever since.
The clench knot has failed me too many times
Really, I’ve had such good luck with the clinch. What knot do you tie now?
@@TBassFactory I use the palomar knot
I switched to uni knot
I CANT TIE IT
Dang, gotta keep trying. You'll get it
did you just tie a clinch knot with braid???!!!! wow. do not do that. it slips👎
Yeah. I’ve been using the improved clinch on alot of my stuff for 20 years. I’ve never had an issue with it slipping. Caught alot of 7 lb range bass using it. Have you had issues with it slipping Johnny
@@TBassFactory yeah I can make it slip with my hands with 30lbs braid. I use Palomar with braid an trilene with mono/floro which is the clinch with to wraps around the hook eye. But I would never trust that with braid.
