This is exactly what I have been looking for. I could not find anything close to the vision in my head and then this pops up. Great video and I will be using this on my build. Thank you.
Actually one of the best videos on how to build out island base. You're above my level of effort on the cabinets. But thanks for pulling this together.
I need to do something like this around our home. The pour in place concrete looks like an awesome concept. We're going to make raised garden beds with a similar technique to what you did with your doors. I think you could do another whole video on griddle cleaning and re-seasoning. It won't be pretty, but the best thing I found so far is to put a scotch brite paint removal wheel on an angle grinder and take that griddle back down to near bare metal, then re-season. It's VERY messy. I had a contractor bag on me to protect my clothes, but my arms were full on black by the time I was done with my 36" blackstone.
Thank you for this video. We are moving in 7 months to and want to build one of these. Your video has been the best and easiest one I have seen yet. Thank you.
Good to know Bill! The warping you see is from back in the day having our old grill to close to the house....the firebrick seems to work very well so far. To your oil point, I do plan on a lid that is hinged for over the griddle, will swing up against the house when the griddle is in use, further heat shield and will stop the splashing you warn about. Thanks for watching!
I really want to thank you for including your daughter in your build (She's soo cute, and girls should always know that whatever they want to learn to do will never be limited, just because they are Girls)!?!
Just came across your video, I was extremely happy to see you involve your little in the building process. I’m hoping to do the same with my daughter when she is old enough
I just watched a video from Concrete with the Hauses. They built concrete counter tops for inside a house. During the process, they used a portland cement slurry to fill the holes.
Commercial concrete requires a vibrator to shake out the air bubbles. Even tapping the side of the form or a palmsander on the outside while its all still liquid would help the edge. Overall well done.
Thank you Tyler; I've been looking for a similar video to make this at my home and I'm glad I found this. Great job. I'll be putting mine together over the next few weeks. I'll replace the corrugated iron for VJ Boards, but otherwise, it will be pretty much the same as yours. Once again, thank you.
Looks like you chose to make the griddle top even with the counter top. Did you notice a performance difference in the griddle closing off this air space. I notice I get a lot of heat coming out the side with the end burner on and wondered what would happen if this was closed.
How is it holding up? I'm thinking of something similar. Do you have any problems with condensation inside the cabinets? Should we have added any vents?
You waited far too long to finish your concrete. To get a nice slick finish, you start burnishing roughly 1 hour after initial set of the concrete, using a smooth steel trowel and a little water. That will give you a nice glossy finish like you see in the big box stores. You also should have vibrated the concrete a little more as that would have consolidated the concrete and reduced the amount of voids you have. I certify concrete placements for a living, so I might know what I'm talking about. You were correct in that the fiberglass mesh replaces reinforcing steel, but could have been eliminated in this build. You could have also "wet stuck" the reinforcing, eliminating the use of the chairs.
looking at your siding, i think your house is giving you a warning about excessive heat from your griddle on your siding, i'd put more protection higher up on your wall!

Great build, gonna be adding something like this to our new patio. Love seeing the little helpers as always. Wishing your family a happy Thanksgiving from ours!
I was a bit disappointed in the results, yes. But it was a first time and we chose to do some counters outside as practice for possible interior counters, lessons learned! Thanks for watching Martin.
What you needed was vibrator to remove air from the poured concrete. Nothing wrong with the mix but too much water was added. More water, less strength.
IDK. I’ve built concrete tables and counters….they are so damn heavy! I say make the table (wood), but use either sealed wood or plastic based material that looks like concrete for the exposed tops…..jus5 not touch anything hot of corse.
Dude... razor blade score the board face and snap the cut... like zero dust. Or use a jig saw and you wouldn't kick as much dust up compared to the circular saw.

I love how the kids are interested ❤

Sweet baby Jesus! Season that griddle! 😅
I did! Hadn't been used in a while before the placement video was shot, surprised me when I pulled the cover off too! Thanks for watching Carl.
@@DIYTyler yes sir. Big fan.
@@DIYTyler The struggle is real ! It'll cook !🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for this video. We are moving in 7 months to and want to build one of these. Your video has been the best and easiest one I have seen yet. Thank you.
I have built bars with fire features and a wood fired pizza oven. I do know that oils love vinyl siding and vinyl softens at around 160°F.
Excellent Pro-tip about the melting point of siding.

Great job. I built mine with pit boss Austin xl, griddle, Santa Fe grill, cook top, pizza oven, and a sink. With a fire pit.
Thanks for the video. One question, how are you getting access to the grease cup on the griddle? Did you build in a way to get to it?
I really want to thank you for including your daughter in your build (She's soo cute, and girls should always know that whatever they want to learn to do will never be limited, just because they are Girls)!?!
You got the best helper!

Wish I could hire you to do my backyard. Awesome work Sir.
How has the siding held up just above the griddle? Im about to build a station against the house too and am concerned with it melting...
I love it Tyler. Great idea on the fire brick.
Can you make another video with some of that philly cheese steak you spoke of? Great video! Thanks Tyler!
I should! I am biased but I really think it's the best philly cheese stake I have found in the midwest!
Bro everything about you is perfect
Awesome video. Great little helper. Please eye protection for the little one in the future. Off my daddy soap box now :-)
Great video. Thank you for posting. Do you have the link for the counter top form and reinforcement?
I love my Pit Boss Smoker Grill.
Oh and don’t forget to add your outdoor sink 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Do you cover the smoker and griddle so they don't get wet
like the metal on the doors
Probably stupid question, but why use the fireproof stone-boards under the concrete? Arent they pretty expensive?
Blessed Thanksgiving to you and family!
Love it! I need a setup like this! I'm lazy having to move everything out to use my griddle. That counter space would save me tons of trouble too!
Did you secure that frame to anything or is the weight enough to keep all from moving/falling over?
Another amazing video!! Thank you!!
Have you had any heat issues?
If you hold your finish sander against the wood it shakes the air out of the mold all in all nice job
What was the tool you used to cut the galvanized steel with? Thanks
How did you modify to make the drip tray work on your Blackstone work?
Could you supply material and cut list?
Thanks
Great video, what did you use for the pellet grill surround? It's black in color, is it metal, tile?
How do the grills weather?
Exactly want i wanted to built and could not find any as usefull as your video !!! Thanks !!!
Turned out awesome!
This is outstanding!
Nice work. I like that style
Another awesome Tyler home project, done to perfection👍🏼
Great video, what did u put on the cement board around the grill? Just paint? If so how did it hold up
It's a high temp paint....still looks like new!
Did you think about using Cement All??
You do very nice work. I’m enjoying your videos.

Nice job man

Great build! Can you share the plans for this ? I'd like to build the exact set up.
Dude you rock. Awesome
Do you have any plans from this build??
Good work
Vibration when you pour will get rid of your holes
How is it holding up? I'm thinking of something similar. Do you have any problems with condensation inside the cabinets? Should we have added any vents?
Holding up great so far, no moisture under the cabinets.
awesome job. thank you for sharing.
Your grill top is rusty ?

Do you have a channel? I'd like to learn more information about the best way to finish concrete tops.
7:50 He has Ace, Home Depot, and Lowe's buckets, now he needs a Harbor Freight bucket.
Can you please provide dimensions for the height ?
I always score and snap my concrete board so I don't have to deal with the dust lol
Very nicely done!!!

Thanks Jeff! You guys moved in?!
Good job
I always enjoy your videos and I could be wrong but you didn’t seem impressed with the cement counters. Either way it was a great video as always 👍🏽🙏🏽

Nailed it my man
Will you sell the plans
great project

Nice video.
I put this outdoor kitchen on my deck back in 2010. Good to see it’s still in fashion.👍
very nice
Love it!
Try a vibration tool next time Chief
Maybe I don't have one and am DIYing my way? If I used one someone would complain I have one
Video was very informative but that "can I help u" sounds so familiar to a dad's ears ... PRICELESS!
what happens when there is a grease fire on that unmovable flattop that right up against your house?
Professional help at last?
lol, you definitely do not need any mesh much less rebar.
I like the set up but your griddle needs some love.

Bro, cover your flat top so it's not SO rusty...always enjoy your content..
Clean the griddle!!!!
Yeah you don't want to pour in place if you are grinding back .......especially on your deck.
you mark and break concrete board.
Dude... razor blade score the board face and snap the cut... like zero dust. Or use a jig saw and you wouldn't kick as much dust up compared to the circular saw.
The razor method does not leave a smooth cut on that material.
Hey, take a look at Todd Tovins video on how to re-season a flat griddle. Yowzers, yours is in bad shape.
Great build great contacts buddy but one thing take care of your kids a lot better than what you doing
I only watched a video for 30 seconds had to turn it off can’t take care of your Blackstone griddle give it to somebody who will
It's not a blackstone. And it's very well cared for now, as you can imagine I was slightly busy building the deck and kitchen.
