Hi Mike, I was pleased and interested to find your vids on the F 900 XR. I bought mine just over a year ago and have done a few similar mods to it, screen change, rear rack, relocation of sat nav, phone mount plus grip puppies. I love the bike, it suits me in so many ways. Not too heavy, beautiful handling and economical. Looking forward to more updates. Cheers from a beardless baldy!
Akrapovic are quality items. OCD looking garage BTW, haha! Glad to see more vids coming through - I wish they were touring ones, as I'm sure you do too.
James thanks, I like a tidy garage, unfortunately I have to keep washer / dryer and associated shit like many others no doubt, and I long for a double garage ! We’ve tried to push some content out during this time but will be doing some more when all gets better . We have a trip planned to the Dolomites in June (postponed from last year)... fingers crossed !
I wanted to put that same exhaust on my red xr however the bmw dealership said it would void my warranty. I just purchased my bmw a few weeks ago..it really is a stunningly gorgeous bike to see in person... it's very modern with nicely appointed ergonomic amenities. your bmw looks spectacular...great job on the install.🌞
Hi thanks for looking and the kind comments. Are you in the UK ?Where are you based? I find that surprising as BMW use Akropovic as an approved accessory ?
@@mikepritchard4930 I'm based in the u.s.a. . near seattle washington. the bmw dealership stated that the exhaust manifold is built into the stock exhaust....soooo if I remove the original exhaust it will remove the manifold too. ...and that will void warranty. that's what they told me. also. ...is that the comfort seat..?...the high seat? I ordered the high seat cause my knees were cramped.....the stock seat isn't comfortable for long rides.
@@foolishcoyote. interesting. This exhaust is just the end can and middle box. The pipes from the manifold are the original so you only add on the end can not interfering with the manifold down pipe. Sounds a load of old bollocks to me as if you asked them for an akrpovic from new they would put one on. Yep it is the comfort seat not sure about the hight, but suits me fine, I'm only 5'9 with about a 31" inside leg. everyone complains about the stock seat, its rubbish , so hard !
@@mikepritchard4930 interesting....I just want the end can & the little matching black side carbon piece like you have. I don't know why the parts guy told me "hogwash" about that manifold. I'm looking on ebay for a exhaust now. I'm 5'9 also........I definitely need a taller seat...mine should be here in a few weeks. I also added the matching red engine spoiler......bmw told me it's on back order.
Hi sir I have the same bike 2020 year and I would like to get a upper fairing or wind deflector same like GS but for the f900xr do you know anyone who can make or design or any companies manufacture them please can help me find one thanks. Cheers Johnson
Hi Johnson thanks for watching. There are lots of after market fairings around . I particularly liked the Puig one for it size and styling , it’s all about personal preference .
Thanks for the kind comment Dave. I’ll find out soon, the bike has had to go back to the dealer this week for some warranty work, it developed the known kangaroo clutch issue some bikes have had and also some condensation on the headlight . I’ll see if they mention it .
Mike i looked in the comments but coulndt find about pads on the side of the motorcycle, as you placed i would like to have some non slippery pads on the frames ? What s brand of that pads? Btw i love you content!
First time seeing the accompanying carbon fiber heat shield with this exhaust, looks awesome! Nice to be able to hear the can with the baffle in as well since it doesn’t seem most other vids of this model include it. Thanks for posting the vid! Any chance you get to hear how it sounded without the baffle? I’m debating whether I should get it or not.
Thanks for the comment and interest Ben. I did wonder whether or not to spend the extra for the shield but now I’m glad I did . Someone else has asked for a demo without the baffle, will try and do something this weekend !
@@mikepritchard4930 that’d be much appreciated! Hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy the bike this weekend. I have the F900r myself and have been thoroughly enjoying my time on it 😁
Thinking of getting one of these bikes, what are they like for a pillion and any good for touring on? Its been a while since i had a GSXR and have got a lot older and less mobile so wondered what its like??
Alex I love it. Haven’t toured on it yet, but we have a boys tour of Scotland planned for June, so looking forward to it. I’m no spring chicken at 61 and Mrs P a few days off 64. We regularly go out for a run on a Sunday and both find it comfortable ... with the comfort seat ! Ample grunt for our needs. Long weekend tour in August planned with the wives . Watch this space !!
That exhaust does look and sound great, I keep thinking about one for my MT10. My only concern is will the great sound turn into an annoying drone when using on touring holidays?
I had the titanium end can on my MT10 and it looked awesome. I didn’t do the cat delete though, as it would have been wayyyy too loud. I prefer my bikes to be subtle and not attention grabbing these days.
Good video - nicely done. On paper this bikes looks like a great middleweight. With you coming from a KTM SAS has the new bike left you feeling a little bit under whelmed......
Gordon Thanks for the feedback. Cant say Im comfortable with the Camera. This was one of the big questions we asked each other last year. I came off the Supaeradventure, Andy went from an M10 to a Tenere. Yes clearly there is a noticeable HP difference however , the XR still does 0-60 in about 3.4 seconds , can comfortably take two up and still has a bit of grunt (not as much as the KTM granted). I have to say I love it. I've had the 1000XR but this is more fun to ride to be honest.
Hi Tom, sorry for the delay, apparently the cat is in the box that is removed, as i understand it there isn't one in the replacement box which renders it not legal. Hasn't bothered me one iota !
Good question. I had the Navigator 5 on my previous XR but haven’t had a chance really to test this . Andy T uses Google maps a lot on one of his arsenal of supplied mobile phones , and he uses another Garmin thingy with a really small digital display. Since I had my iPhone 8 Plus and the quad lock I start to question whether I need a sat Nav. It’s nice to have them both up as Google maps shows different stuff to the Garmin. Maybe we can do a combined review on all devices. Will mention it to the other bald ones .
I agree that multiple device clutter does my head-in. The day when everything is integrated with the main TFT can't come soon enough IMHO - see our Bike Tech vid. Ive bought a BlackView 9100 (13000mha battery that lasts days so no need for dodgy usb power supply) and is waterproof and rugged to boot. Its a single dedicated device on the Tuono for nav, tunes and speed camara app.
Be very interested in your thoughts as to (a) why you downsized to The 900XR from S1000XR/Superduke GT and (b) what you think of it. Reason is I’m an 8 year GSer also thinking of moving to F900XR - but going smaller is a serious business.....
MN1k - Firstly thank you for taking the time to view. So i went from the 1000XR (awesome acceleration) to the 1290 SA (awesome power) and really wanted something that i could physically handle with more easier. Purely down to weight and size. I'm a little chap 5' 9" and wanted something i didn't have to struggle with size wise. Yes i do miss the power of both the 1000XR and the 1290SA however this bike despite being able to do 0-60 in 3 something seconds is far easier for me to handle. If i were to be brutally honest i find it more fun to ride as well. As you may have seen we discussed 'do we really need big bikes' and we decided that we don't. The 900 can comfortably take 2 up and if you wish you can load it with paniers, top boxes etc. I personally don't like panniers and go for roll tp bags and usually find that more than adequate for me and Mrs P to have a comfy long weekend away. Solo touring then you can take more stuff. Not everyones cup of tea but the more i ride it the more I like it.
@@mikepritchard4930 Thanks for a comprehensive response Mike. I do get it - but I’m just concerned I’ll miss the grunt and comfort and pack-horse capabilities of the GS. The GS is fantastic at everything except raising the pulse. I’ve booked a test ride on the F900XR so I’ll have a better idea soon enough 👍 Stay shiny side up.....

So I’ve had both bikes . Two different animals, you totally need to try both . The 1000 seat is wider, but is is a bigger bike . The 900 stock seat is shit, I had the ‘comfort’ seat put on and I find it ok . Have just come back from a 2000 mile tour of Scotland and no complaints. Happy hunting 👍🏽

Thanks. Is the tank pad by Motografix? I’ve found the tank paint work (the gray bit that meets the seat) prone to zip scratch etc cheers(UK)
Yes it is… so far all good 👍🏽

It is a 180...maybe the camera angle makes it look bigger ?

yep dead easy, 4 bolts I believe.
