      Solid work, but there was one small inaccuracy. Acastus Kolya was not sent to take Atlantis, and was only sent to raid it for materials & tech. Kolya's power grab began with him attempting to take the city to increase his own personal standing with the Genii.

    The Genii added a really nice element to the Atlantis universe. I always liked that this villain group was not a technologically advanced alien race, but less advanced humans that were still an imposing force in the Pegasus galaxy and a real threat to the Atlantis team.

    I love a good protagonist outwits antagonists story, but sometimes I just wanna see some shock and awe. I would've loved to see the Genii shitting themselves and being humbled by the sight of BC-304s, F-302s, and the plethora of Asgard tech Atlantis has at its disposal. I would've loved an episode where the guys on Atlantis finally snapped and had some BC-304s beam out the Genii's Stargate as a show of force.

    The Genii's biggest flaw is that they frequently push their paranoia into actively counterproductive levels. They are frequently so convinced the other party is going to stab them in the back that the Genii think going for the backstab first is the most logical choice, which (even if it works) gives them a short-term (and possibly temporary) gain at the cost of getting a reputation as untrustworthy pariahs.

      I feel the same way, but it had to be this way, the stories we were given about them was meant to show that they were a smart strong and determined group of people.

    • @2bituser569

      The premise of the Lucian alliance that by us eliminating the Goa’uld their worlds suffered didn’t sound realistic. Goa’uld don’t take care of any of the human worlds. They cull them for hosts and use them as slaves. They don’t feed them or anything.

    • @SuperMIKevin
      @SuperMIKevin 3 роки тому +8

      @@2bituser569 if you are looking at them from the perspective of a normal society then yes that would make it seem like the premise is flawed but in reality,
      the Goa'uld were rulers, while they did not provide any democracy, they provided order, everyone had a purpose, people were slaving for them and nobody was above anyone else, while they may not have brought food from planet to planet to make sure there was enough food for everyone, most people had a share, the weak died or were killed which allowed more food to go around.
      when they were gone the order they provided disappeared, the strong among the humans took what they wanted without concern for the weak, gangs must of started to fight amongst themselves for more power.
      the point is, it's hard to create a governing body when you have never had one, especially when you all have been slaves all your lives, you don't trust anyone to govern over you, as it was shown in the Lucian alliance, they behaved much like the gods that ruled them, if you were an alliance leader and you were too weak in the eyes of the other leaders it was accepted that factions would form against you and take over your territory.
      let's not forget that joining the Lucian alliance is not an option, kids are taken and made into soldiers, you can also imagine this being the case from the very formation of the gangs on those individual planets, if you want to eat, you better join my gang.
      so in conclusion the power vaccum left by the Goa'uld created a state of constant war among the freed slave humans.
      very realistic if you look at our own history, very human, very predictable.

      I agree with many points but one. We usually do see leadership on these slave serf worlds. Abydos had Sha’re’s father and presumably others below him when Ra was normally absent for a few generations. I would assume their lifespans were likely shorter like 40-50’s like it was about 100 years in most countries. There would be a generation or two that never had the experience of seeing Ra return. My impression these worlds pretty much ruled themselves for most part. Sure they come and grab some for hosts or naquada miners or to make more Jaffa as needed if populations got low due to wars.

    It would have been easy for Genii just to require some old earth physics books or basic 1960-70 old tech but they didnt.. its the writers again and the topic of a fairy story just as disney do. So stargate personel went to a another galaxy without any material who present who the are and human history or did the writers forget?
