Unknowingly I’ve been doing just this for 5 years now and our floor looks great. Thanks for confirming, I’ve been wondering if I should be using a cleaner, now I won’t wonder anymore!
The people that installed my hardwood floors said NEVER use water not even a damp cloth. I use a damp paper towel and spot clean the floor but I immediately dry it. Shoes come off at the door.
I use a mop and water (very little water) - floor has to be damp, not wet. I used to use a commercial product which cleaned and put shine on my floor, but this product started to take the stain right out of the wood! So I gave that up and use a damp mop now, nothing else. Avoid commercial products. They can destroy your wood floor.
I wonder how many contradicting methods there are for cleaning a hardwood floor?!! This one is fine but there are so many using harsh, acidic products and wax/laced. To top it off, they all clean for a living!!

I can't agree with you more
Murphys Oil Soap, diluted
As long as you chase it with water, you'll be good. We prefer not to leave a film on our floors.
@@AGCampagnaI’ve used Murphy oils for years in my floors with water and i always see a film. Gonna try this
