- In the newest book, Shadow, we have a very suspicious cat in the form of Splashtail. Is he the next Hawkfrost?

News: with the new kittypet revealed (wafflepaw) to be in thunder and it saying frostpaw must go to riverclans roots (likely riverclans old territory) with the fact wafflepaw isn’t something a cat would name a kit, no waffle kit, and the fact warriorclan resides near riverclans old territory, I’m almost certain frostpaw will encounter warrior clan and meet wafflepaw, maybe wafflepaw will even go back with frostpaw and join riverclan (they could even become mates but that’s just what I want) though I’m basically 100% certain wafflepaw will be from warriorclan, and considering they say waffles owner will get to see the mark on the series wafflepaw will likely have a big role to play, reinforcing my belief that wafflepaw will go with frostpaw to join riverclan :)

I love Sneezecloud, so it makes me sad that his son might be the next villain, but I also love everything about it. I hope Sneezecloud gets his moment with his son in this arc.

Maybe the real villain could be mallownose we are just saying splashtail but with every new book Akira says a different cat is the villain because it feels like the writers change their mind everytime.

I think you could possibly be on to something with the Owlnose theory at the end. Think about it; how lucky is it that Owlnose chose Splashtail? Either its a happu accident, Owlnose is in on the whole thing, or Splashtail told/threatened Owlnose to make him deputy. I dont think that would be the whole reason why hes so nervous; thats probably simply his personality... but maybe Splashtail really was threatening him.
I was suspecting splashtail was the evil cat,He seemed as he was faking that he loved frost paw and was most likely manipulating her visions.And he was urging frostpaw to be a med cat again.
Depends on what version of hawkfrost we're getting. He was an amazing character during the dark forest story, with ivypool and what-not.
I actually think Wafflepaw will be the cat she has to meet and bring back. The fact that the team is asking fans to poll for a cat to star in Thunder, it just seems too much of a coincidence in timing for them to do that NOW. I think what's gonna happen, is she goes on this quest, brings back Wafflepaw, and finds that someone's installed themselves as leader and there's a new fake medicat as well. And no one's gonna believe her that a KITTYPET would be a leader figure either medicat or actual leader because of her faulty visions before. The drama in this arc has been so good, and I wouldn't put it past the writing team, to just pull a "SURPRISE!" moment like this halfway through the arc.

I think that the StarClan system is still kinda messed up- like new medicine apprentices can’t communicate correctly? Just an idea as to why Frostpaw can’t use the Moonpool to talk to StarClan- but they could still send her visions :)
And yet, she had a real starclan vision despite everything. It was a vision that led her to Reedwhisker body. Unless she was INCREDIBLY lucky, had a fake vision that pointed the real location of Reedwhisker body, it looks like she had at least one real vision in the first book
I like the idea that it kinda just starts small (non-important visions, maybe peeks into StarClan) but it ramps up slowly as their training goes on unless they have no connection to StarClan directly like with Shadowsight.
Haven’t been reading Warriors recently, but this seems like a super interesting arc! Some status quo changes and a grounded conflict with some supernatural elements.
Please, let Mothwing talk with someone about the trauma and despair caused to her by Hawkfrost. It'd be a good chance to bring back the Mothwing we've grown to love that we lost during The Broken Code, and it'd be a good lesson for Frostpaw to take signs with a grain of salt unless she is absolutely certain they came from Starclan, so as to not face the heartbreak and criticisms Mothwing did.
I think she has mentioned Hawkfrost at least once in this arc, but I might be mistaken
I'm still convinced that Duskfur is the true mastermind of this plot in Riverclan, but she's using Splashtail as a younger, more mass-appealing face to her operations, kinda like what happened with Tigerstar the First and Ashfur being the public faces of the Dark Forest but with Mapleshade running the show "behind the throne".
If this turns out to be true, I think it would introduce Duskfur fully as a new, powerful, and kiniving female villain in the same vein as Mapleshade, while still having Splashtail be a big problem, kinda like having him be Duskfur's "fixer" or "hitman" as really, over the course of the three books we've gotten so far, Duskfur has done far more threatening and vying for leadership than Splashtail and just seems to have a much darker and more menacing presence around her.
Having her be like the Emperor to Splashtail's Darth Vader would be a cool dynamic, and create multiple new, well-written villain characters to fill the roster back up.
That's actually sorta close (but not really) what happens ( like trust me not spoiler close)

I just found out Splashtail is related to Frostpaw, I believe they’re cousins? Them being future mates will def be… awkward.
But all that aside, I do hope Splashtail becomes an actual successful Hawkfrost. I so desperately need an interesting character in this arc. Him being manipulative and using Frostpaw and actually coming out on top, and while the Clan seems to not enjoy that he’s deputy rn, having them back him up to drive (or kill, please get rid of the damn clones) Tigerstar would be great. Having a real threat for the Clans that isn’t an outside force.

It would also be cool if something happens with warriorclan they had so little time in the books. Maybe monkeystar has something to fulfill. Maybe thats what frostpaw finds at the older riverclan territory (as if I remember correctly warriorclan lives in old riverclan territory)

Personally I still believe Duskfur is the main baddie. And that Splashtail's mention of being able to manipulate Frost was because he knew she trusts him, and possibly also because he's already gotten away with it before (I suspect he's the one who left both the star shaped herb, and later the feather that was what ended up convincing Frostpaw to pick Curl as the leader).
But I can't see him as either the mastermind who'd plan everything or as charismatic enough to persusuade others to follow him.
It would be messed up if Duskfur was the mastermind, given Curlfeather was her daughter and Frostpaw is her granddaughter. She also seemed less enthusiastic about the possibility of being leader after her daughter's murder

While Your theory about Splashtail being Frostpaw’s assailment seems connvincing, it doesn’t explain why Splashtail didn’t tricked Frsotpaw into have him tag along for the Journey. If Splashtail was the assailant it would make more sense for him to talk Frostpaw into having him accompany her under the pretense of additional protects or claiming that he wants to keep Frostpaw company.
That’s not to say that Splashtail wasn’t involved in the attempt on Frostpaw’s life. But I think that Splashtail told the bad cat by accident or Frostpaw’s assailant eavesdropped on her conversation with Splashtail.
And I’m mostly convinced that Duskfur is a red herring as although it could be agrued that her pride in Curlfeather being selected as the next candidate can be fake, I’ve realized that Duskfur can get away with being so what overtive in her envy because everyone knows that she wanted to be RiverClan’s next leader. So if Duskfur acknowledge that she was jealous but acted like she was proud of Curlfeather nobody would become suspicious, if anything it would make Duskfur look even more innocent when she expressed grief.
In fact I have one other possible suspect on who the bad cat is based on the idea the Splashtail was tricked into spelling the beans. FYI, this is currently speculation atm.
What if the Cat who attacked Frostpaw’s was none other than Harelight!?!
As Frostpaw’s mentor he had a greater chance tricking Splashtail into ratting Frostpaw out. I have a hypothesis that Harelight noticed that Frostpaw is gone. Harelight runs into Splashtail and asks if he knows where Frostpaw is. Although Splashtail agreed to keep Frostpaw’s whereabouts a secret he eventually gives in since Harelight is Frostpaw’s mentor. But that turns out to be a fatal mistake on Splashtail’s part.

I think Icewing could be a main villain. Splashtail knows he can’t be leader without mentoring there’s no way he could ever think he might be leader. I think she worked with Curl and Dusk due to her anger at the leadership because of her exile. They originally want Curl to be leader but Ice gets greedy and sends the dogs to kill Curl. I think Splash is just a pawn because he has no motive other than just wanting power that is impossible to get. I’m hoping it’s Icewing but with the writing it might just be Splashtail and he’s not a red herring.
That could also partially be why icewing wanted to talk to frostpaw, to convince her of something that would help with the plan.

Someone mentioned WarriorClan before, and I believe they’ll be relevant in Thunder as well. We were introduced to The Sisters in Squirrelflight’s Hope, a super edition, and then they came to play a big role in The Broken Code. WarriorClan is from Greystripe’s Vow, a super edition, so who’s to say they won’t play a certain big role with A Starless Clan in this book? Plus, the new cat might just be from WarriorClan, and perhaps a WarriorClan apprentice who is descended from the Cats of the Park (Wafflepaw, playing some of this from other comments). Also, I believe the young warrior could also be some other cat that’s not Splashtail or Nightheart. Maybe a young WindClan warrior (tom of course), since Frostpaw IS going to WindClan anyway.

I could see Splash Tail not threatening Owl Nose but just saying how hard it'll be to run the clan and have everyone putting their lives in his paws, but Owl Nose had already shut down from stress just thinking about it.
I have finally been able to read Shadow and I really hope Frostpaw becomes a warriors. It`s clear that that`s what she wants to do and she didn`t have that much confidence when she was a medicinecat apprentice. It seems like she can be a great warrior who also gets visions, like Firestar

This is actually a good theory, but Splashtail WANTED Frostpaw to be the medicine cat and was ready to pressure her into being it, so it wouldn't really make sense if he was the attacker

He did...until she told him about her vision. He got scared because StarClan decided to tell her Reedwhisker was murdered and panicked because they might let her know who was involved next. Before that he probably believed she didn't actually have a strong enough connection.

I love the idea that Curlfeather might be a villain. It would be really cool to see Frostpaw struggle with the fact that a cat who she loved and cared for might not actually have been a good person.
Kind of like Rose Quartz and Steven Universe.
She’d have to learn that people… err cats.. are multidimensional and someone that could have been a loving mother and friend could also be a manipulative liar.
Her story could be like Bramblestar but better.
But this is warrior cats so highly doubt they’re capable of successfully writing such a multidimensional and deep character or storyline.
Especially without shoving a undeserved redemption arc down our throats:

if splashtail is going to be the one to accompany frostpaw on her journey then he's very open to getting an injury that makes him viewed as a lesser option for leader, hurting pride and making him just worse

I love Splashtail and i pray to the holy erins that he gets a very significant role in the plot. But I dont wan't him to be the BIG bad guy. I remember that when Frostpaw confessed to him and he was struggling to respond, she recommended becoming mates after she became a warrior. Splashtail was described to begin to nod before stopping himself, which leads me to hope that he is more complicated. It could easily be that he didnt think it would be best for his totally epic and evil plan and stopped himself before agreeing, but theres still a thought in the back of my mind pointing toward the theory that he is being manipulated himself, possibly by duskfur or curlfeather when she was alive, and his little hiccup could be him having stopped himself from going against their plans. Im also incredibly biased, however, since he is tied for first on my favorite character ranks. Did he plant the feather? Obviously yes. Did he kill Reedwhisker? Probably..?
But I think all of the suspicion being pointed toward him is simply to easy to be true.

Oddly, this reminds me of arc 1 in a way. Inner clan shenanigans, a clanmate evil without an outside influence (Darkstripe being arc 1’s), and a sort of mystery that, after being solved, has to be carefully treaded around (aka Firestar having to reveal Tigerclaw’s treachery to Bluestar, who thinks Tigerclaw is loyal)

My speculation about mistystars death: while it could have easily been age (like a heart attack) I think it was set up, maybe she was given prey that had deathberries purposely put in, it was probably age but just my idea

Thought the same thing right from the start. It's just too suspicious that they died at the same time. And in the middle of an argument so everyone can see it, as if to give everyone an alibi, and also so everyone will be to shocked to ask questions
@@Hadeshy yeah, the only thing that I can think of that could work (if it was a accident) is they where planning to kill reedwhisker later and that if mistystars death was random they just decided it was the perfect chance and killed them early
The thing is, everyone knew how old Mistystar was - I think that they were mainly going for the deputy position, because everyone knew that it would only take a few moons before becoming leader.
If I really want to put on my tinfoil hat, the argument that killed Mistystar might have been intentionally orchestrated to influence who she'd pick as deputy when Reedwhisker didn't return that night. Shimmerpelt for example was really kissing up to Mistystar while also supporting the dissenting cats - if Mistystar felt like she needed their support to keep the Clan stable, but also wanted a warrior that was loyal to her, that would be a great setup. They just didn't expect her to drop dead in the middle of it.
THEORY: TIGERSTAR KNEW ABOUT SPLASH, AND IS TRYING TO SAVE RC.
Honestly, I really like this idea and I hope this will be the case for the future of this arc. However, my biggest fear is that they would get rid of splashtail to early or would just do a lame “plot twist” like “omg it’s been Mothwing all the time 😱”. Granted that might not, and I really hope that when they reveal splashtail it would be done right.

I feel like he is evil , when I read Sky I thought he was suspicious, and when I read shadow I believed it even more and I still believe he is evil.
Could be that the cat who has to become the new Riverclan leader is Frostpaw? I mean she is not an obvious choice and her strange visions reminds me at the Firestar visions in the first arc. Even the stories are similars their villians are the one who kill their clans deputy.
That’s an interesting idea. However it would be really hard as the third book has passed and she isn’t even warrior yet so she needs to become warrior, get an apprentice, get chosen to be leader. It just doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen without being rushed.

As happy as I'd be for the dark forest cats to no longer be always behind everything I'm skeptical the writers will abandon that security blanket. This plot is so similar to last arc right down to the medicine cat being nearly murdered it's hard to rule the dark forest out completely.

Yeah the final book being called “star” since the last book is usually most important and starclan is really important so it makes sense.

What I’m mostly more frustrated about is that Tigerstar gets pissed when ThunderClan tries to intervene, but since A Light in the Mist, he seems to be better and now copying what he’s hated since day one?
Also, I hoped, hoped, HOPED so bad that Sunbeam would resent Nightheart and stay heartbroken, get manipulated by Berryheart further, possibly going evil and Nightheart either dragging her out of the flames or Sunbeam teaming up with Splashtail for reasons I don’t know yet. We just haven’t had a Villian main character in so long.

I think by the end of this thing, Frostpaw will probably end up as leader of Riverclan. After all, she is not the OBVIOUS choice. The other one might be Mothwing, but who knows.
