      @@TheVideoNerd Hey. Not sure if you still check these comments but if you do please... PLEASE "Pin" this guys comment so it shows up as the first comment. This fix is really important. I spent about 40 mins trying to get this to work. When i couldn't get it to work i finally did a search for comments with Discord in them and eventually found this one. This tutorial is still really usefull in 2020 (well 2021 now). But this fix is needed to make it work right. Thanks!

    Bro, real shit, you are literally the only person I trust on YT for tutorials regarding anything to do with streaming. I have watched other tutorials first for certain things, but I always end up back at your channel with your tutorials. When you say you break things down in an easy to understand way, you 10000000% do. Without a doubt, you are hands down the best source for assistance with this kind of thing, and that's coming from someone that had literally ZERO knowledge of this kind of stuff when I first decided to start streaming. I even went through your 45min video of setting up SLOBS for the first time. Thanks for all the helpful videos and I look forward to referencing your content in the future!

    My goodness. I think that this is the clearest explanation of how to figure out the IN's and the OUT's and to control them. The software is very powerful, but there has always been either a bit of a language issue with Voicemeeter or a stupidity issue with me, I suspect the 2nd. This interface might be completely intuitive to an audio engineer, but I've had the hardest time figuring out how to send what I want to where I want. The Video Nerd makes this very clear!

  • @williamhalimi
    @williamhalimi 5 років тому +3

    Thanks for clear video. It seems that there is possibly a confusion on B2 output used for stream: what you mention as B2 output is the aux virtual input. The real B2 output is explicitly mentioned at right side of VM after A3 physical output. And so Discord could use the available aux virtual input rather than a virtual cable connected to a physical input. Is it correct for you?

    • @TheVideoNerd
      @TheVideoNerd  5 років тому

      But the pc is already connected to aux input so if you don't send discord to a separate virtual cable, you can't control the sound in VoiceMeeter Banana itself + some People import it 2 times so they can control the discord sound on stream and in their headphones separately. Does that make sense?

    • @williamhalimi
      @williamhalimi 5 років тому

      @@TheVideoNerd In the video the VM aux virtual input appeared unused and so available for discord sound ,but if it it used by another audio source, so of course virtual cable used with VM physical input is the solution. In both cases for me you have complete control of Discord sound with VM. Lastly I am not sure to understand the double import, for me using one unique VM input Channel for Discord sound allows to route it as you want to stream and/or to headphone. A last remark: in VM the microphone Channel may be routed to B1 (if available) and then B1 used as audio input in Discord so that Discord remote guy receives your voice processed by VM through microphone physical input channel

    • @TheSlyNerdHour
      @TheSlyNerdHour 3 роки тому +2

      @@flavio-machado Okay there are two ways to do this that you can try. One is different to this video, the other builds off this one. The first one doesn't use voicemeter for the microphone, rather you will just have to capture the mic directly in OBS and do post processing later.
      But for simplicity, I will explain the second way (Which you can use the mic through voicemeter and is more suitable to just straight recording)
      Step 1: Follow the exact steps in this video. You should end up with 1 Audio Input in OBS that capture everything.
      Step 2: In OBS, add an Audio OUTPUT capture, name this Discord and set the device to whatever input its set as in Voicemeter. In the case of this video its CABLE input.
      Step 3: In OBS, add an Audio OUTPUT capture, name this System Sounds (Or whatever you want) and set it to the device its going into in voicemeter. In the case of this video its Voicemeter Input.
      Now you will have three audio sources in OBS. One that is capturing all sounds through Voicemeter and the other 2 which will capture just discord and just system sounds
      Step 4 (Optional): If you want to capture an additional input (In my case I have my spotify/chrome separated) then route them on the sound settings (In windows) to go into Voicemeter Input AUX.
      Step 5: In OBS, add an Audio OUTPUT capture, name this music (Or whatever) and set it to Audio AUX input
      Despite the Input AUX outputting all the sounds (B2), OBS can capture the sound going INTO that input separately from its OUTPUT.
      Now you will have 4 audio sources. One that is capturing everything, and three that our doing discord, system and music sounds. If you don't care about adding your through Voicemeter than just add another input capture in OBS and set it as your mic without touching voicemeter. BUT if you want to have voicemeter add the eq onto your mic then do this;
      Step 6: On Voicemeter, uncheck B2 on everything other than your mic input.
      Now on OBS, that first audio input that was capturing ALL sounds from voicemeter will only capture the mic as only the mic is being outputted by B2.
      Step 7: Makesure in OBS that the advanced audio properties are set correctly for each audio and track as well as the OBS settings correctly recording the ones you need.
      Side note: I have been using a variant of this method for a few months but I wanted to be able to use the EQ for my voice so I discovered this method. My old method was basically the same though. I captured the my mic directly through OBS. And I simply set three audio output captures in OBS as the three audio inputs in voicemeter (Disclaimer - When I done it this way I noticed that if I recorded my voice with Audacity as well and synced them up, after a while the OBS one would be marginally behind, but not by a lot. You can check out my latest video, I used this method in it)
      If I didn't explain it well I could try make a little video on it
      (Edit - I think if you do it this way, you can permanetely have your mic being the only thing going into B2, then you can set your discord input device as Voicemeter AUX. I THINK)

They don’t echo in my ears but for the stream there is an echo. My setup is I have the input of discord as VM output(VB -audio voicemeeter) and my output device is Voicemeeter input( VB-audio Voicemeeter.) Everything else sounds really good and clear besides discord. So I feel like I’m messing up with the discord settings. Any suggestions?

      Hi. So if I understand it correctly, you didn't install virtual cable? Discord should output to VB Audio virtual cable input and then you should import it in VoiceMeeter hardware input 2 as VB audio virtual cable output. Then send it to A1 and to B2 and you should be set up :) Let me know if it worked.

    Thank you so much so so useful. Question... So all the things you said about the audio on the previous video, about the noise filters and reduction wouldn't apply if I was to use this? If I want to cover up the video of my keyboard or loud yelling?

    • @TheVideoNerd
      @TheVideoNerd  4 роки тому +1

      No indeed, that's a problem some people have when going through all my videos. Some things don't go together. But you can search for a VST plugin for voicemeeter and i think you can add effects that way. I haven't looked into that a lot tbh!

    Very good video... I sort of understand after listening 4 times.... but I think I prefer to use the audio connections via obs audio.... I find that less complicated and I get more control.... but maybe after watching a few more times i will try. One things I don't like is or maybe i don't know how is can you separate VLC player, spotify and chrome on a separate channel? Is that possible? Cause now everything from PC is going through one channel only besides the discord. Thank you in advance

    Hi! Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I just had a quick question. I have all the settings set correctly, but when I was streaming a game with in game voice chat (Phasmophobia), the others in the game heard themselves through my audio. So there was this weird echo where they could hear themselves. Is there any way to fix that?

Thanks a lot :D Also got my mic how I want it with this bass section on voice meeter. My voice is naturally deep, so mine works good like center just up a hair haha.

    Awesome video, showed me everything I needed to know to get started using voice meeter. I do have one question, is it possible to use a separate input for Discord because right now I use the cable input for iTunes. Is it possible to have a second input to use only for Discord? Like a second virtual cable.

    Hello again @The Video Nerd, I got an answer from you via email but I cannot find it here, in any case, the email notification had a question from you on whether I use headphones or speaker. I was sending A1 to my headphones, which are connected via bluetooth to the computer (same computer running voicemeeter). I only have this headset called GRDE (which appears as WDM Headphones SX990). I used two options for mic: the built in mic in the laptop so as little connections as possible, and RodeWirelessGo connected to Camcorder, connected to WIX capture card, connected to USB port. Both ways had microphone come with similar delay.
