There are a couple things I wanted to address since I've been getting lot of comments about them recently: 1. At 5:06 I say TMS switch while showing a picture of the DMS switch. That was just a slip on my part. The two sound almost exactly alike and I apologize for that. However, I won't be reuploading the entire video for that very minor change. Just remember it is DMS not TMS. 2. In the HSD section I wanted to point out that moving the 3-way dogfight switch limits the DMS switching functionality. Not everyone knows this and you don't have time to troubleshoot in the middle of a dogfight. Putting it back in the center is quick way to fix it as mentioned in the video. Now there is a workaround but a new Viper pilot wouldn't know about it until they knew what the underlying issue was. This video is intended to inform them of that issue. For those wondering what the workaround is it was shared by one of my commenters: From f38stingray: "You can get the HSD in dogfight mode by double pressing one of the blank MFD buttons (for example, where you would normally press to select HSD if not in dogfight mode), which gives you a list of menus to select from and customize in that mode. After that, HSD will be available in dogfight mode for the rest of the flight."
If you set up HSD in Dogfight mode (for e.g while beeing on the ground) it will be there when you need it (MFD entries configuration will be stored in specific mode)
To have the HSD in the DGFT/ missile override config you just have to change to them and select them on your mfd. If you then need your SMS page you can circle the displayable tabs (in your case SMS/HSD/Blank (it skips blank)) by pressing the according side of your Dispay management switch shortly.
If you want to use the HSD while in Dogfight or missile override mode, you can add the HSD page while on the ground. To do that, select one of the modes and press one of the OSBs next to the SMS page (OSB 11, 12, 13) two times to add a page. Then select HSD (using OSB7 I think). Even when exiting the modes, the HSD page will still be stored when switching back to one of the modes. This may be helpful if you lose sight in a Dogfight and need to know where the bandit is relative to you. This only applies if you have an AWACS or other planes in your team, though, since somebody needs to relay the bandit's position to you. Hope this helps.
Good tips... a few to add here. Cursor Enable must be held to keep the Sidewinder in BORE mode. Releasing it puts it back in SLAVE mode. If you want your HSD available in Missile Override or DGFT modes, you can go into those modes and then press an OSB that isn't used (OSB 13, e.g.) and then select HSD from what comes up. Once you set that OSB to HSD, it will still appear later when you go back into that mode. So, I usually go into DGFT early in the flight (right after takeoff, e.g.) and then click OSB 13 and then HSD, and then cancel DGFT mode. Ditto for Missile Override, although I seldom use that mode. Then later, when the S hits the F, going into DGFT mode has my HSD available. Final tip, added to the 3 switches to be sure are on early, make sure to set up CMDs to the desired program and mode (I usually use Semi and 3) and also set up ECM if you have a pod. I have a multi-function button programmed on my Stream Deck to take care of all these things quickly because some missions start you off in the air and you don't have time to click everything.
#6 - Set the countermeasures mode selection switch to “Bypass” and map Countermeasures management switch - Fwd. This will allow you to dispense chaff/flares one by one, it can be life saver
Just started flying the F16, practicing against the computer until I can build my confidence to go online. One tip that I like to do is when playing instant action against the computer I like to be in the tws mode over the rws mode as I don't have to slew over the bandit, I can lock him up faster in tws as opposed to having to slew over him then push up on the tms. I can just tms to the right and the radar does it for me. I still need a lot of practice before I can try this on real players though.
You'll get there with practice. Also, I have an entire playlist for BFM which should help out a lot with that. I definitely recommend checking it out and watching Tyro's videos on BFM over at the Air Warfare Group channel.
One tip! both on A/G and DOG FIGHT MODES use HSD on the RIGHT MFD (to keep things clean and universal) when you cycle btween modes you will still keep your radar or any last used option. Always in dogfight mode use the BORE mode for both aim9s and aim120 ( sometimes its better to look at the target and send either fox 2 or 3 but the fox 3 is very situational like 10nm and you couldnt see on the radar or did not had time and somehow you spot on visual because of "BRA" . When flying always designate the target on the HSD( provided you have the scorpion helmet on). If you are flying towards an enemy flight and you have multiple enemies, select one or another on the hsd after you engage your primary target via FCR and go after the secondary targets, it will give altitude and direction but not speed , you can cycle with right tms. When i fly SEAD often use HAD on left and HSD on right and when i go into bvr i use had on the right mfd so i cycle btw HSD and HAD panels to check the status of the SAM , while locked on target with my amrams, and when i need to engage the sam on A/G mode i simply go into A/G and solve the issue there.

You can use HSD at any mode. Just need to select that mode, press one of the 3 pages OSS (preferably the center one, to not overwrite SMS) and select HSD.
That`s true. I always set it up even before I take off. In BMS, We can program it to data catridge prior to flight. Unfortunately in DCS it isnt avalaible yet. Hopefully soon.
Thank you! In the end what's better for a dogfight, SLAVE or BORE mode (both in conjunction with HMCS)? My understanding is that in BORE you have a greater radius, while in SLAVE you are limited by the radar gimbal. Are there any advantage for the SLAVE? Like a more reliable tracking?
I still do not understand the “uncage” concept. Does that change the 9x from slave to bore? It doesn’t seem to have that effect when I press the button I have mapped as the cage/uncage command
I’m sure you understand by now but in case you don’t, when you uncage the missile it locks the missile head seeker to the target. I’m not good at explaining things but I hope that helped

I'm pretty sure that the max power switch is not implemented yet in the 16. Edit: Yeah I looked into it. For the block we have it is not going to be used at all because it is a legacy switch. Also similar to the Map switch and MWS switch. So all three of those switches are useless and will remain so.
My problem is the little stick on my x56 stick. When I try moving the little radar curser it goes all over the place. I’ve tried different curves, and dead zone plus saturation. If I move it left or right it just goes diagonal.
I thought you were going to talk about manouvres and stuff because the basic manouvres instant action ai is doing some dirty moves and it's beating me a lot.

the slave and bore mode is very useful as it allows you to turn off your radar and just use the seeker for a stealth kill

Didn't take me long to bind a rotary switch to HMCS display.

i have the x52, what are you trying to map it to? I have it on the lowest hud switch on the stick, caddy to the trigger
