Since drewski reading my comment is small, I am going to comment on your comment. What I really recommend doing in the j-11 and su-27(maybe even the mi-29) is going to about 25k feet and turning on your radar, while staying close to the mountains. Just try locking some people at long range to let them know that you're there. Then turn over to the mountains and let the enemy know that you are going there. Then go to irst and drop to the deck. Keep eyes on the dl and you should see some people turning to you. Get them to launch a slammer or Phoenix and/or turn cold if they are hot or locking you. They WILL do dumb stuff and try to follow you, so to then kill them just turn around a mountain and surprise them. I used this tactic on gs and was getting 3-4 kills each flight and even got 5 or 6 kills(don't remember) on another server(people on there weren't that good). If you do it right then you will be dodging a LOT of missiles but they will all hit the ground because you are maneuvering a bunch around the mountains. Might be fun to give it a try because there is so much action going on if you are doing a 1v3 on gs server.
I went for a $2000.00 20 minute flight in a Russian trainer L39 Albatross. Absolutely insane. Did 5.5g, rolls, loop, inverted flight, vertical climb while spinning, and more. When you pull back on the stick or do any moves, the gravity is insane and you can't believe what actual fighter pilots endure. Greatest thing I've ever done, I'll never forget it.
Did that too in L29 though, right after going to weighlessness flight in spase laboratory IL76 MDK, this one to get a cosmonaut feelings. I came to DCS right after these flights. Bought top HOTAS set i could find and VR and looking for better monitor now.
Nice flying! The ERs are actually SARH, gotta hold the lock :D Also on the datalink, the length of the cross-bar at the tip of their V shows you the relative height, long line = high up, short to no line = on the deck
The F-16 gives it a good run for it's money, but the Su-27 and -33 are just so good looking. The F-14 and Mig-25 are great too, but in a different way. It's comparable to a modern Ferrari vs a 70's Ferrari.

I loved that plane so much we went to an airshow with the sole purpose of touching one and seeing it in person. The "crane" was my baby.. Thank you for bringing back so many memories!
This isnt overly realistic, its DCS but an FC3 plane. In reality the Flanker is more like bargain bin F-15. Not bad and to be underestimated, but just not on the level. Its powerful IRST in DCS is pretty unrealistic too. IRL those systems were considered very unreliable, but here its like a fantasy undetectable short range radar, which makes little sense. Eurofighter IRL has a much more advanced system, and it cant do that. Its fun for sure, though. That said tho, there are plenty of Flanker pilots who don't know that their EO can't IFF and so they shoot friendlies with their ET's because they don't IFF with radar.
The Flankers are really underrated aircraft, they can carry more and fly both higher and faster than an F-15, and can outmaneuver any western jet minus the F-22. Really great planes, the west has had to adopt a strategy of taking on a Flanker with two aircraft instead of just one, because of just how maneuverable they are. Really cool to read about imo

R-27R and R-27ER's are Fox-1, meaning Semi-Active RADAR missile launch. R-27T & ET's are Fox-2 meaning passively guided missile launch. R-77's are active guided radar missiles, Fox-3.
The quality of this video was mind-blowing. Keep it up!
omg drew that transition at 2:31 was so clean!
cant wait to get this game
The game is free. The Hardware and DLC's are anything but lol
"Mountain Skier, not sure what to call it..." Nap of the Earth (NoE) is the term you're looking for. Keep up the great videos @OperatorDrewski!
I need a video full of transitions like 2:30 👌
Your high pitch voice during the entirety of this video shows how much you've been playing with Ralfi
Hi Drewski! If you loved the sneaky medium range R27ET, just know it isn’t exclusive to the SU-27 family. The Mig-29 can carry two of them as well.
Btw with vertical scan i found out you don’t have to spam it if you just hold the lock bottom it’ll work instead of having to break your finger trying to find a bandit
Don't tell my boss I cancelled a meeting for this video
Good job and good clean kills, Drewski!
Strigon Team, break formation.
I like how you end up explaining the plot idea and whats going on in the video to the viewer. others dont really do that
most f16 pilots dont realise that you need to turn on the iff, its the most agrovating shit. i dno if its still like it but it used to be that if another f16 didnt have iff turned on you couldnt get positive returns from them and would end up teamkilling
Yep. A lot take off without IFF set to norm and don't turn on the MIDS-LVT (beside the INS alignment knob). So they're effectively flying a 1980s Viper at that point.
LOL love what you said about the Tomcat guys launching missiles from 50 miles. They want that safe stand off kill to boast numbers, almost as if they are afraid to get close in, which the Tomcat is just as capable of the close in fight but perhaps the pilot skills are not. Good video, makes me want to start learning the DCS Flanker.
His voice is so nice i legit fell asleep
2:44, I am so using that to remember what everything is on the radar as I learn the Su-27.
Me watching in 240p:
This looks incredible!
love the head tracking at 6:02
I saw this on ralfidudes channel so I had a feeling this was coming
Little did I know Drewski would become one of my favourite DCS UA-camrs, after having been one of my favourite Squad UA-camrs while also being one of my favourite Tarkov UA-camrs.
Bravo Drewski, Bravo.
Dcs looks like the hardest sim ever!
I'm wrong guys?
xD
No, your not wrong
I wouldnt say hard, its very complex tho
no its just complex. the better understanding you have the better you will do.
It's complex, there is a learning curve but damn it's fun
Love the Kenobi line at 7:44
It looks like a soviet dream, that became reality.
13:41 Cracked me up. Nice vid.
*Yes.*
Yes.
26:41 BEST PART 😂😂🤣 the guy's having fun in here
57 seconds ago, this is godly good timing man
watched a lot of Arma 3 initially but I recently binged your dcs vids. One suggestion, I'm interested, all parties willing, for you to record one of your Microsoft paint lessons with ralfidude? you scan over them and make it almost a meme but I'm curious how many people like myself are interested in his knowledge of radar and other cool mechanics... Stay safe dude.
