Stone Roses | She Bangs The Drums | Guitar Lesson

- Thought it was about time I looked at some Stone Roses. There's tons going on in the studio recording, so here I've tried to come up with a playable version for a single guitar that brings together all the most important bits. Mostly based on how John Squire does it live.

More stone roses please Adrian. Don't think there's anyone else on UA-cam that could do this.
There are two types of covers/lessons on YT. The ones by Adrian and the ones that are not.
@@jakobgustafsson658 Thanks for the tip. I want to learn more of Squier's guitar parts but it is hard to find lessons with attention to detail.
@@jakobgustafsson658 subscribed - thanks for the recommendation
Don't be a f00l
Waterfall is quite easy, yet satisfying, to play.
The way he plays, there are no words
I see what you did there. 😊😊👍
I think you mean the song by Extreme.
he plays the lead!
This is a phenomenal lesson Adrian, you've made a lot of people really happy with this one. A bit more John Squire sorcery would be greatly appreciated!!
Squire sorcery! Love it
You should also do I Am The Resurrection
A word of thanks for the effort Adrian puts in. Not only in dissecting the guitar layers but also the work to produce the backing track each time must be substantial.
I’ve waited 10 years for this.
For 20 years 😂 anyway, this is a good play
I've heard this song so many times without picking up on so many of these nice little touches, great job!
Jeffrey Sims listened to it earlier today and didnt realize there is so much going on !
I still recall hearing this song one Sunday night in 1989, on the 2 hour, once-a-week radio programme where I could hear all the latest music from Britain, by the only DJ we had who knew what was going on the rest of the world. I had never heard anything like it. It hit me like a... I don't know, a dump-truck of love. It changed my whole outlook. Really. It is great that Adrian here made such an effort to decipher the many layers of guitar that John Squire so meticulously put together all those years ago. Absolutely fantastic.
You need to tell us where you are in the world to put this comment in perspective.
@@Coppertunes Fair enough. At that time I was in the USA. I am not now, but was then.
Great stuff as usual Adrian, and I for one would welcome you delving into more Roses stuff.
Another winner Adrian. Can you do Fool's Gold? Can't get that from the current tutorials. It is so different than any other song I know.
Yes. I feel exactly the same about that one. The wah pedal is just perfectly implemented and I seriously have considered getting one just to learn to play like that. Adrian is just about the only one I trust to teach it well.
Hi Adrian. This is a fantastic lesson for many reasons. It has barre chords, double stops, melodic ideas and bass runs. I love the Roses and would never have been able to work this out on my own. John Squire played beautifully on the track but you Adrian have deciphered and distilled its essence into a perfectly understandable guitar lesson. You have a deep understanding of Indie guitar history which I have not come across from any other player or teacher. More Rose's please. 👍
The Stone Roses take forever to release any new material so it is fitting you have taken until now to release a lesson for one of their songs. And a cracking lesson it is too.
I like how this comes out soon after I requested I Wanna Be Adored. Not what I was hoping for, but I'll take it! Great work as always Adrian!
Ants guitar tutorials has done a video for I wanna be adored
Yes mate, welcome home.
Fantastic lesson from one of our greats, broken down by UA-cam's finest. Keep these coming and I shall never go hungry again. 😎🎸✅
Fantastic. I’ve picked bits and pieces out of it before but I’ve always been confused by lots of it. Thanks 🙏
Love the Stone Roses. Everything they did. Never understood the reaction the second album got. Loved it too.
I wish I could give this more than 1 like. THis is just brilliant. A prefect, yet playable, breakdown of the song.
Too many good songs to learn not enough time! Thanks Adrian
A song I have wanted to play since 1989.I now have it in the bag...thanks so much for this version as it plays and sounds fantastic.
Even on a Spanish acoustic..
Awesome ! Been waiting 30 years for this!
Thanks for listening to requests Adrian. Really appreciate this one and it looks really good. As always well explained lesson very clear and concise and clearly researched. More roses as soon as you can please. I salute you sir!
More stone roses please 👍🏻👌🏼👌🏼💪🏻
Thank you. Squire is such a unique guitarist, making him pretty hard to nail down.
Absolutely brilliant!😎
Absolute quality Adrian! Many thanks for this & everything you do.
THANK YOU! I have loved this song for years, and seeing a lesson for it made my day. Thanks again.
Excellent Timing,Just arrived in my You tube notifications,Saturday Morning,Sunshine is breaking through the clouds, got my strat and blues junior. Thanks for this .Thumbs up
"There's tons going on in the studio recording" does my head in. I love John Squire's guitar parts and have struggled for years to do what you demonstrate here - many thanks
To your question , yes, do some more stone roses! Brilliant job Adrian. Thank you v much
I had forgotten what a great tune this was. Fantastic lesson as always.
Just signed up to patron for the first time, just wanted to say thank you for all your amazing work. Really enjoy the alt content and artist you have been covering. And this rework of the stones classic just topped it off. Keep the great work coming.
Nice one Adrian. Love John Squires playing the songs are great too. This and Waterfall are my two favourite guitar tunes.
‘I probably shouldn’t talk technical like that as I don’t really know what I’m talking about’ made me spit my coffee out 😂
Could just listen to this instrumental for hours! Great job!!
I love this song. This is a really well-done tutorial. Thanks Adrian!
Fantastic lesson on a classic song. Please do more??!!!
In the Blackpool 1989 performance of this song, Squire plays with a capo at the 2nd fret. The video footage doesn't concentrate on his guitar playing much, but it's reasonable to assume he's playing the main riff in an open position with the bottom string dropped down a tone. Given that this concert took place not long after the debut album was released, I expect that's how it was played on the record as well (John Leckie said Squire used a capo for the album sessions). However, footage of the reunion gigs shows Squire playing barre chords without a capo as you've demonstrated here. So a good tutorial, but if you want to replicate the sound of the album you'd want to use a capo.
There goes the weekend. Chune!!!!
😯 what a lesson! Many thanks Adrian mate you rock 👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome Adrian!!! One of my favourite bands. Il be spending my Friday night learning this. Can already play the bass line lol
Great tutorial as always. Perfectly timed video release to play on my new Strat!!!!
Here's another couple for your talents Adrian....Love is the Law by The Seahorses.
Another legendary John Squire riff!!!
No? Okay, what about The Bluetones: Slight Return? Adam Devlin's finest 3.27 minutes!
Just brilliant, thank you so much Adrian! Squire is amazing, and so are you :) More Stone Roses? Well yes please! One Love, Love Spreads, Good Times, those would be my top favorites for additional lessons. Thanks again!
Fuck the tutorial, just hearing you play it first few minutes is absolute bliss
Adrian, this is a more accurate interpretation than that found in my official Stone Roses tab book (purchased in the depths of the 1990s). Really, really well done. I think John used an Ibanez analogue chorus, pretty much the same sound you'd get with a CE-2. The silicon fuzz faces tend to sound 'brighter' and have more sparkle than the germanium ones, which give you more of a woolly late 60s sound, so that's pretty accurate for the clear and bright guitar tones needed here.
Superb lesson as always Adrian. Best version of this I’ve heard. Tone is perfect.
Just discovered Adrian and I really like his style. I am an indie guy - it would be nice to get a few more mainstream tracks that you can show off with to non-musos, but I like his style a lot - very chilled, clear and precise. And achievable - which is the most important thing.
thank you thank you.....i fell in love with that album in high school...
Brilliant, thank you for a great lesson. This is by far the best guitar lesson channel on the net.
Glad to see take on Stone Roses, handsome guitar BTW
God bless you for this. I’ve been waiting for this since the ‘90s. Elephant stone next please and my life is complete!!
you make it look effortless
This is by far the best tutorial for this song. Thank you so much
i recently got into the stone roses from a friend recommendation, so i first listened to the whole debut album, and i fell in love with it. great tutorial, subbed. please make some more videos on the stone roses, particularly on "i am the resurrection," i love that song.
Thanks Adrian, you really expose me to all kinds of fun music I never heard. Great lessons and inspires me to play new things. Thanks so much for what you do.
Another great lesson video and another great choice of song. Your guitar tone at the beginning - just nailed it for me.
Its been a couple years since you posted this and many more since the original first came out. I really want to master this song, so I'm coming back to it. Thanks again for your hard work.
Fantastic teaching. Had this down in one sitting thanks to you
Love this. It makes a wonderful instrumental
Hi Adrian, I'm just starting to progress from strumming to picking & it was something I was a bit scared of as a rookie guitarist. Thanks for this lesson, massive fan of the Roses & it's a great vibe to even think of reproducing John Squire's magic. So, decided to stick with you for a while & get playing how it should be played. Nice 1. Good man.
Definitely definitely definitely do more Stone Roses please. Maybe Happy Mondays too? Thanks so much. As always great choice of music!
Hey Adrian! Thank you for this! More Stone Roses would be great!
Loved the lesson, thank you Adrian, and another one to work on! I have a request for another Stone Roses riff please; Mersey Paradise, although it’s maybe not their riff, since it’s so similar to a Beatles riff. Thanks again!
Love this thank you! More Stone Roses is always a good idea.
Yes to more Stone Roses mate. This is class!
Amazing song and insane playing! Wow, I need to learn it this weekend.
WOW !! That was a nice ride just like butter Thank You for sharing
Thanks, I had worked out most of this myself, but great to get it better.
Brilliant wanted to know this for years and could only half play it.
Thanks, Adrian! Been hoping for some Stone Roses! Fool’s Gold or I Wanna Be Adored please!
More like this please. Love your videos and the Stone Roses.
sounds mint mate. thank you!
Another overlooked band of that generation...Suede..particularly with Bernard Butler on the first 1.5 albums. Some great playing.
Bernard Butler was in Suede, mate.
@@indiesi5644 Oh shit, that's a huge typo...

Brilliant! I’ve always played this in drop D capo’d at the 2nd.

This is the best YT channel!!
