    IMHO, the rear seat set-up is absolutely an afterthought. No doubt our excellent Australian after-market crew will sort most of it out in short order, but it it's hard not to feel Toyota have done just enough where everyone will buy it regardless of any issues. I wait and watch. Thanks for the video.

      It was genuine honesty - when the 250 deposit was put down, it was led by R&D; this evolution (which is great for better understanding the vehicle) has come organically since. You're 100% right; it'll be nice to see Tin and the family enjoying comfort in their future travels. ☺

I still have my Prado 120 which has a lot a Kaon accessories in it which are great and well designed, and I'm excited with you guys designing accessories and your mindset on what and why your designing that part for the 250 series. I was watching another review of that Downunder Prado, y'all. That review said it's illegal to remove the third row seats in Aussie? Is this true? I know your ADRs are pretty strict and all? I know all my Aussie mates get their Fourbies Engineered to keep their upgrades legal, coz your coppers are pretty harsh, especially in Qld?

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust  День тому

      Generally, removing the third row in Aus means the vehicle needs to get a mod plate (blue plate / compliance plate) to state it is now a registered 5-seater. It isn't difficult to get, but does incur an expense. Usually police won't get you for minor deviations like that (at least in QLD anyway), unless you're being particularly painful to deal with. Many folks will just get mod plates done because its easy and removes the concern. We'd be in that boat, too.
      With the 250, there's definitely the added complexity with a lot of speculation that removing the seats and altering anything in proximity to the battery may void warranties - but Toyota hasn't officially commented, do only time will tell.

    From what I have seen of the new Prado and you show at the end is a good compliant third row seat delete.
    There seem to be some questions regarding warranty and compliance with a third row seat delete.
    I presume you saw of or have heard of the one review vehicle died because of water and the battery somehow. Perhaps you can do something to waterproof the battery setup.
    That whole rear setup looks like an after thought.
    .
    One thing I am sure is that you will come up with some good solutions and mods for this new model
    Edit
    Saw an update on the Prado 250 that the battery died from water. Apparantly water got in via the air filter and the 48v system failed
    Sounds odd but we will prabably never know how it died, but a few youtube channels have picted up on it now

    Slightly off topic, but out of interest, what are some of the ways you've stored water on the FJ in the past?
    I'm trying to solve this one at moment, without carrying on rear door or overloading roof rack with combined weight of water + accessories etc
    I love the 150 Prado water tank you designed, wish it could sqeeze under the FJ 😅
    Good luck on the 250 ✌️

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust  День тому +1

      I believe it's mostly been that Tin and the family store water in their camper trailer, and use Rotopax or smaller interior storage containers to augment that if needed. Wish we could fit the 150 tank under the FJ too!

    That battery location is so disappointing. I know it was the easy option (as it just uses the mounts / housings / etc from the petrol hybrid) but there seems like there was plenty of other ways it could have been done!

      @ I’d been told that locally they saw it and freaked out. And the bin was developed last minute, locally, and actually delayed release. I guess we are not considered a big enough or important enough market to develop a dedicated moulded / pressed plastic part! It’s a shame it can’t be under the second row seat like the hilux - but that would mean loss of tumbling / access to third row. The overseas non hybrid / non 48V versions have a 3rd row similar to the 150 where they disappear into the floor.

    • @peterstaggs1956
      @peterstaggs1956 День тому

      @ certainly a controversial solution that has caused much conversation. Many people claim to have cancelled orders. The truth would be interesting but we will never know.

  • @krh007

    Those front white plastics buffers below the headlights loook so damn ugly and yes the round retro headlights that every other country got look so much better. Perhaps design & develop a scaled down lightweight front alloy bar that gets rid of hideous plastic buffers and allows mounting of spotlights would be a perfect project even if you have to do it jointly with a local bar manufacturer
    Please do a Kaon product to get rid of the spare tyre under the rear (it was such a backward move by Toyota as was going away from the side opening tailgate which was perfect as gave you direct access to the cargo bay and the option for the fold-down table which is so!!!! useful as we would not be without one now.
    Also please explore that 48v cooling fan vent uinder the cargo floor as with water cossings/puddles as watched in horror re that YT review offroad where the water ingest via the fan shut down the car and it had to be towed back to a Toyota Dealer. Very concerning for any trips where water crossing is involved.
    No water bottle holders in the lower door map pockets was a big fail as with delete of sunglass strorag overhead which i use all the time - perhaps develop an overhead bolt in multipurpose panel as per the Grenadier "which is awesome" giving that aircraft cockpit vibes but also very functionable.
    Yeah that back cargo area sucks - interesting in Sth Africa they did not bother with the 48v volt system and it was completly deleted so they have a normal alternator and startor motor and a flat rear cargo floor (why we we not offered that option is hard to understand)
