Thank you for the kind words, and for following you - we've spied your support and comments on most of the videos throughout, means a lot to our team! :)
Love this. I've been a massive fan of Kaon products and the quality and attention to detail is second to none. Thanks for posting and all the best in the future.
Outstanding. Been an absolute pleasure to watch your Prado Project Build journey. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. I now have a comprehensive list of what I want to do to my Prado, albeit, the GVM might be the deciding factor. Thanks again and hopefully see you in Adelaide one day for the Caravan & Camping Show. Cheers
Thank you for following along, we're really glad to hear you've enjoyed the journey with us. GVM is definitely a big consideration! We went all in, but you could still build an incredibly capable vehicle with less, especially when we have 120kg of water weight ;)
The solutions you’ve made for the 150 have completely changed the view I have on my Prado and its overall utility. Whether the underbody tank, rear shelf and table - to the base rack awning brackets, all have been clearly well thought out and simplistic to install. I want to thank Tin and the team for transforming my car to a fully fledged off road camper. Keep up the good work!
One of the biggest compliments you could possibly give - can't think of a better purpose for business than making you love what you have and see it's full potential. Thank you!
Love your work Tin and the team at KAON. I am so proud to be representing some of KAON’s most popular products on my 150 series Prado, it was in fact this very 150 series that inspired me to purchase one. See you at the 4x4 shows!
You have such great vision with what can be done with your products also the time and money you invest into your business to create these visions. The Prado looks great ! What a great series hoping to see many more …this was such a great insight into your company.
Keen for you guys to come out to Perth! So excited for the external panels and side step water tanks, would love a set of each for my GU! Amazing work 🫶🏽
Thank you! We're working on getting there. GU would be a perfect platform for both wouldn't it! Lots of testing and work to do but it's great to hear people are interested.
Just discovered Kaon. Genuinely impressed by the quality and thoughtful design that goes into these products. Inspiring story of how the business began also. Keep creating cool and innovative products 👍
Stumbled upon the build playlist, had never heard of you before. I just watched it end to end with no breaks. Phenomenal build and the ingenuity in the designs of your products is incredible.
This mini-series has been amazing. The design, ingenuity and pure class of your gear was matched perfectly with the way the series was filmed and put together, you've got a good production team! Please make the long trip over to WA! We spend enough money on postage for your gear (worth it!) and would love the chance to see this 150 phoenix in the flesh.
Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to our little team that you've really enjoyed both the products and the series itself! We're working on Perth, this comment gave us a good giggle though.
I just found this video, and as a Prado owner and graphic designer I can say that the subtle vinyl wrap looks superb!, a sample of a really good design, love the subtle colours and materials selected, it follows the vehicle body lines. branding is not on your face, the lower black line and red make the vehicle look higher from the ground, perfect for a 4wd, it just looks perfect. well done.
I actually didn't finish watching the video before commenting and after watching a lot of videos of prado 150 and lexus 460 build this one is the best one. Those side steps water tanks are insane! I will need to pay a store visit soon. Do you guys have that Prado on display somewhere? cheers
@@alejandrocasas9661 Thank you! As the designer behind these graphics (👋Emma here - also behind the camera), that means a lot! Was a few versions to get to that one. ;) If you stop by our showroom in Carole Park on Brisbane's southwest, the Prado 150 is usually here - just mention it to the team in the showroom and they can get you in some hi-vis and into the workshop to see it! :)
I have the exact same model Prado and I love every single accessory you designed and added. From the mirror antenna bracket to the side step water tanks. My list of add-ons just doubled. 😂
Great job, it has been a pleasure to watch all those videos. All Kaon accessories do not disappoint thoughtful and quality finishes a pity they do not have a distributor in Europe. Congratulations to the whole team.🤩
Tin and the team have done an epic job on the Prado 150 build!! I can’t wait to see the finished product at a 4WD show soon. What I like about Tin is that he is very humble. He appears to be very clever, successful, hands on, hard working and yet, his ego isn’t pumped up to an annoying excess. I like that he points out his previous stuff ups he has made, we have all done the install, re install and then reinstall again due to our haste or lack of prep. In fact his humble approach to his modifications and improvements to an already awesome product (Toyota) is really inspiring and exciting. The attention to detail and aesthetics is very progressive. Love your work bro 👌😎 Nath G (Prado 120 hacker)
Would love to see you in Perth!! Thank you for this series - it’s got me inspired. Keen to understand more how you’ve done your 12v in the panels - looks great
I love your innovative products and the smart use of space around the Prado. I've already started upgrading my 150 Series Prado with your products and have been thoroughly impressed. The attention to detail, from product packaging to installation videos, is amazing. Cant wait to see you guys in Sydney. I have a suggestion: It would be great to have a refill point for water near the front grille. I noticed an Anderson plug installed in one of your videos, and a similar setup for water would eliminate the need to open the bonnet for every refill. The front grille's elevation would also allow for an effective gravity feed.
Okay I have watched this video 6 times ... This is one awesome build... The side steps water tanks that's brilliant. I would want to see how a rooftop tent would look on this build.
What a genuinely great build. I am sold, your approach and persona to engineer the Kaon Prado has me sold. Slowley and surely, my 150 is going to be Kaonised!

Love, love, love this build! I'm biased as I own a 150 too but it's cool to see one fully decked out with Kaon gear throughout, getting lots of inspiration for mine... Watched all these eps, it's very cool to see you and the team develop concept products. Seen a few copycats of your existing products around, was thinking it's a bit unfair for designers like yourselves who came up with them originally, but now realise that you guys as the innovators have the joy of coming up with the next products that others can only dream to copy one day. Great Job love the work you have done on this Prado. I use many of your products on my Prado 150 they are top quality and easy to fit. About to head off to the Gulf Country then the Kimberley Region with my Prado. Well done.
Brilliant, look forward to seeing some of the prototyping products for sale. Aerial on wing mirror, gear stick knob. Water on side steps, although be interested how much bashing they could take for reasonable off reading. Keep up the great work
Fantastic build series team Kaon. Love the new development and the mention of weights as well since that gets overlooked until someone tells you about it. Can’t wait to have some of the new stuff available and look forward to the new gear you might bring it for the new up coming Prado. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words! We felt it was important to be transparent about GVM, it's a huge consideration and while we've tried to keep this build realistic and relatable, we've definitely not held back on gear. 😉
A really great series from start to finish. Will certainly be looking to get some more Kaon products for my Prado and really looking forward to seeing the rig (and yourself) at the Perth 4WD show later in the year.
Some great work on the Prado, love the external rear tyre accessories but unsure on the internal back window storage as would mark the tint and the side rear quarter panels 🤔🤔🤔. Water storage is 100% , a must for remote touring! Congrats, well done and tidy build!
I often wonder the mods I would make if I had a full team behind me who are brilliant enough to make anything I can dream up. This video is exactly that.
Excellent video series and great to have such an inovative quality Australian brand on the market. Would be interested to see mounting options for the ARB twin compressor particularly on the 120 Prado Diesel models which might also be compatable with the Prado 150. Keep up the great work and best of luck at the shows.
A lot of thought and design has gone into this Prado project , you've done really well. You should look into getting a troopy and designing stuff for that , a lot more area and space and little nooks. You'd get a lot of troopy support.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, your focus on engineering and design is to be commended. Now onto a 300 series? 😊 Also keen for you to make the trip to Perth!
G’day Tin. I have a ‘22 Prado with a 3.5T pre-rego GVM upgrade (fitted with several Kaon goodies). I do understand that purely for R&D purposes, you’re fitting all the Kaon gear to the vehicle and so it is highly unlikely, not to mention impractical, for 150 owners to fit ALL the exact same accessories that you have on their vehicle. For me, I also tow a 15ft hybrid so in addition to the vehicle’s GVM being whittled down with accessories, there’s also the towball weight to account for and of course passengers and camping equipment. I’d also be concerned about the increased side profile when going down tight tracks and gear getting stolen with the side panels. There’s also the additional weight being added on the rear door and the additional stress and wear and tear on the door hinges, which with the rear wheel alone, is already supporting a fair chunk of weight. Just some feedback Tin. Not having a crack or at all. Kaon makes fantastic gear and continues to release well engineered innovative products a lot of which I have installed, and continue to install, on my Prado 👍
Love your work Kaon crew!! I just wish you did more stuff for the 90 series Prado cos theres a lot of them still around but I understand why you dont. I have fittes a 150 rear table to my 90 back door and it worked out better than I had hoped with some careful planning . Keep up the great shit!!
Come to Perth!!! I've loved the build. Looking forward to your onboard air ideas - i'm looking for inspiration on how to have air at the rear so i can inflate my camper trailer with the standard hose.
Yes please, would love to see you in Perth. I would really like to know how your concept rear window panel goes and if you would be open to designing a side ladder to fit to it, or the roof rack (including ARB Baserack) and resting on the window panel on the drivers side. With so many 270 awnings being mounted passenger side and also covering the backdoor, it leaves the drivers side to access the roof when parked up.
Nice work. I’ve got almost 90L of water in my Prado 150. I went the 30L Kaon tank underneath which I love. Then I have my second row seats taken out and have a 56L Boab tank there in custom storage which gravity feeds the Kaon tank when needed.
This is amazing ... so stoked for you guys/ Looks incredible! Can't wait for the show to have a first-hand look. Any idea of your GVM now with all the Mods? Thanks, team Kaon for taking us through the build and for your continued dedication to building the best after-market 4WD & touring gear around! Cheers J
loving the build and can't wait for the outer molle panels to launch! noticed you put a fair amount of weight in your rear cargo shelf, just wondering if you think they'd be strong enough to house a small 12v system weighing up to 16-18 kgs
Looks awesome ! great vid to showcase all the products Maybe the signage down the side add to the bonnet across where the bonnet protector usually goes this way it flows right around Oh and I love the lady laughing at you in the background 😂
Great work. Thanks for this experimentation. Key questions:- 1/ - in the Aus 4WD aftermarket industry is there room for counter-cultural "keep-it-light" AND less-is-more? If there is, Kaon is the brand I'd have hope in seeing exploring and promoting that! 2/ in that context, prob need to separate out key (and larger?) market: my 4WD is also my daily ride. Particularities of daily ride market:- - fuel economy - dual/triple mode configs: a) commuter; b1) tourer; b2) off-road and remote camper/overlander. EV's and LiFePo4 Solar Power Stations should equal the end of the 4WD 12V power installs - however such a deeply engrained thinking, hard to get past! Therefore 240V air pumps are a better option than 12V air pumps. Ease of removability AND reattachment of elements - incl priority on both weight and wind resistance of lift, bull-bar, awning and roof-rack due to impacts on fuel economy for both commuting and blacktop-only long-distance touring. LiFePo4 means greater priority on everything electric. Therefore thought processes are perhaps wherein 300W solar PV recharge capacity should perhaps be considered as standard as a spare wheel???!!! FWIW (My own thinking is formed out of taking my virtually stock 120 D4D from Brisbane to Mt Dare to travel Madigan Line - with no lift, no bull-bar, no roof-rack. My only somewhat permanent adds were Kaon bash plates, plus recovery points. Great fuel economy in this (= relaxed range) due to "keep it light" thinking - albeit inside vehicle was packed to rafters! Keeping it light meant great handling for both higher speeds of Strzlecki and Oodnadatta tracks, as well as in managing the awful wombat holes on all of the sand dune climbs in crossing the Simpson.
I'm not looking to start a discussion here, but it seems the vehicle they've built is more for demonstration purposes, even though it's a capable off-roader. I'm on the same page as you-keeping it simple, light, and economical for daily use. Personally, some of the upgrades will not be 100% used for my mixed-use purposes (off-road and school runs/commute). My stock 150 is more than capable of tackling the type of off-roading I do. Ultimately, it's up to us as consumers to decide what suits our needs best. I've chosen cross bars instead of a roof rack to save weight on roof (just to mount recovery boards and a shovel) and opted for boxes instead of permanent drawers for quick reconfigurability.
This is a valid point, and to be honest, you've touched on something we do try to do in our business: encouraging people to only get the gear they need. It's a fundamental thing you'll hear us tell customers again and again when they come to us: start small, go camping, see what you actually need - you don't need to throw everything at the car to have a good time outdoors. Ultimately, We had to hit a balance in this build, add items that customers want to see. After all, this is a display vehicle, and it needs to serve the needs of the business, and more importantly: the customers who come to see us at shows. They come to see our gear, and it's genuinely disappointing for them when we can't show them a specific product they have been wanting to see in the flesh. But we also tried, where possible, to keep it realistic. We didn't replace the bullbar with a newer, more typically modern bar just because we could. We didn't go a huge lift, 35s, heaps of barwork, etc. At the end of the day, this build has been all about balance, and keeping the vehicle fit for purpose, but also relatable and genuinely inspirational / attainable for our customers. Love comments like these because discussions like this are so important. You don't need to add a heap of gear to get out there and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for engaging with our build in a meaningful way, we really appreciate it.
Outstanding work guys, just installed the rear table and storage system. That Molle rear window storage interests me but particularly wonder if the opportunity is on the one side where the wheel is already covering up the view 👍👍
Fantastic products and wonderful to see the engineering side of things. I have the cargo shelf in my Prado 150 and I would love to see a storage caddy that you can bolt to the front side of it, above the rear seats. This would be perfect for storage of misc things for the rear passengers. I've currently installed a couple of wire basket shelves from Bunnings and they work ok but a Kaon caddy would be much better
Looks amazing - I have a (big) idea though. How about a universal RTT mount for the platform or bars to compete against Rhino Rack to quickly be able to remove / install any RTT? That is my biggest "want". That and I looooove the water steps + those side window mounts look awesome too! Currently I use your folding maxtrax mounting board (for the bars on the front) which I recommend to anyone because I have bars on the front and a platform on the back and it allows me to use the space to the best of its ability :) Also another wish list which I think which might already be a standard thing (I could be wrong though) is awesome brackets so I can quickly add a light bar or multiple spots to the front Rhino Rack bar - I haven't done it yet but if it was simple and easy I be down to use them and the idea of installing them without going the 'custom' route already gives me a headache.
We did actually have on our ideas board to tackle some quick-release RTT mounts for this build - so there might be some unfinished business for us still there. Thanks so much for following along and for your support, we love to hear how people are using our gear on their setups.
So stoked for this, as I have a 150 Prado with several Kaon items on it. Those water tank steps are amazing. Are they rock sliders, or just steps? Take my money now!
When I get those side step tanks, I'd not have the outlets anywhere below the wheel arches. Since they have pumps, I'd plb the outlets straight to the boot area
Like the side steps a lot. I need to get the rear door table. I agree with the comment on weight it is the most important factor and not everyone will need everything. External window grills also a handy option.
Good work Tin... I'd be keen for the side steps water for a 200 Sahara... can never have too much water! Be interesting to see how the side windows hold up on severe corrugated roads over distance and whether the opposing vibrational forces on the windows is dampened enough with these suction mounts
Absolutely love this. Excellent work guys. Super keen on the rear window mount and water storage solution. When do you plan on bringing it to market? Cheers.
Outstanding! Great build. With the exception of the white front bumper, looks awesome. (I prefer black) Any plans to make a prototype of the rear external window guards for a Discovery 2? I’ll buy them and test them.
That’s an awesome rig, personally I chose this model as well because of the no dpf etc. you could remove the 3rd row seats to create more space and reduce weight. Maybe you can fabricate a bolt in drawer system instead of the seats?? Happy to help you design!
@@KAONaust that’s awesome! My wishlist included into the draws would be wet/muddy storage or easy clean out. A very thin long drawer. Access like the kitchen spice pullout cupboards only smaller. For cans of food or sprays like lube or brake cleaner. 😉
I have enjoyed watching this build series and am a big fan of Kaon products. I have a number of them on my NX Pajero. I love your innovations. I appreciate your disclosure about the weight being added with all the accessories. Could you develop the Pajero bash plates in the light weight high strength steel. Also keen for an engine bay mount for the ARB single compressor. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words, glad to hear we've been able to give a bit of inspiration for your own build.
I often wonder the mods I would make if I had a full team behind me who are brilliant enough to make anything I can dream up. This video is exactly that.
Also: Come to Perth
Love this. :)
Another count for Perth!
Would be great to see you guys and the Prado in Perth, help the wifey to visualise the benefits of some of the Kaon products too 😊
We're aiming for it!
Excellent video series and great to have such an inovative quality Australian brand on the market. Would be interested to see mounting options for the ARB twin compressor particularly on the 120 Prado Diesel models which might also be compatable with the Prado 150. Keep up the great work and best of luck at the shows.
Great video keep up the great work you guys are doing.Martin Thailand 😎
Thank you Martin! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Love to see you here in Adelaide for the 4x4 Adventure show. great fan of your work!
Not sure we'll get to Adelaide this year, but we're working on building up to it! Thank you for your support :)
What a transformation! Well done guys!
Cant wait to see those steps and side window panels in production 😉
Thank you! Lots of testing to do (in fact we're doing it as we speak) but we're keen to get these prototypes through R&D too!
Also keen for you to make the trip to Perth!
Love those water side steps , a very smart idea. With so much water on board, I think a spa maybe next…..
Haha! KAON bubble bath coming right up ;)
I have the same prado and a few kaon accessories. I DEFINITELY want that rear window Molle panel
Thanks for the kind words!
Any news on the prototypes being made available? @KAONaust
Love your work Kaon crew!! I just wish you did more stuff for the 90 series Prado cos theres a lot of them still around but I understand why you dont. I have fittes a 150 rear table to my 90 back door and it worked out better than I had hoped with some careful planning . Keep up the great shit!!
Thanks for the kind words, we are looking to see what we might do for the 90 in the near future! :)
what a beast! awesome work guys!
Thank you! Scrubbed up alright in the end ;)
Love the new look. Great work and big fan of Kaon.
Thank you for the kind words and your support!
Outstanding!!!! Putting my order in for those external side window panels for the 200 series. Really cool build!!!!! Must have a look at your shop
Thanks for the kind words! Definitely stop by if you're in the area, we'd love to show you around.
Come to Perth!!! I've loved the build. Looking forward to your onboard air ideas - i'm looking for inspiration on how to have air at the rear so i can inflate my camper trailer with the standard hose.
Thank you! Another vote for our Perth crew! Definitely - we're not finished with the 150 yet. ;)
The car looks great mate the side step water is ingenious as are the outside molle panels
Thank you, glad to hear you like the concept products!
Looks fantastic.
Thank you :)
Definitely want to get the side step water tanks. Perfect solution for my water storage needs! And the external Molle panels.
Sounds like we better get moving on the testing then! ;)
Or… if you put some on my car I could help you test them ;)
Absolutely beautiful build and awesome ideas!
Love this
Thank you, so glad to hear it!
Amazing! Absolutely great ideas and products as always.
Please! Side steps water tanks and external moly panels for the FJ Cruiser!!!! :D
Thank you for the kind words! We've got a lot of testing to do but glad to hear you're keen for more! :)
Great stuff Tim. Love to see yo in Perth
A vote for perth! Thanks David. ;)
Valid point and good suggestion, thank you - will be sure to pass it on to the product development team. The votes for Perth are adding up!
Nice work. I’ve got almost 90L of water in my Prado 150. I went the 30L Kaon tank underneath which I love. Then I have my second row seats taken out and have a 56L Boab tank there in custom storage which gravity feeds the Kaon tank when needed.
That's a solid amount of water, but what a great setup! Love to hear how people get clever with their long-range storage setups.
Cheers J
Thank you for the support! If you watch through to 16:20, you'll see the GVM breakdown for the build.
Awesome overview! Thank you
Thanks for following along!
loving the build and can't wait for the outer molle panels to launch! noticed you put a fair amount of weight in your rear cargo shelf, just wondering if you think they'd be strong enough to house a small 12v system weighing up to 16-18 kgs
Love your, and the teams work!!
Thank you!
Once again I'm at full Bazza. These concept products are just bloody brilliant I would definitely run the rear window molle
We're clearly doing something right 😏sounds like we might need to work on getting them to market so we're not being a Bazza tease.
Looks awesome ! great vid to showcase all the products
Maybe the signage down the side add to the bonnet across where the bonnet protector usually goes this way it flows right around
Oh and I love the lady laughing at you in the background 😂
Thanks for the kind words! Glad to hear you've enjoyed hearing Emma cackling away at Tin's antics. 😂
@@KAONaust tank guard looks great hopefully that makes it to production
Water supply I love especially after fishing
Very well done Kaon
Thank you! :)
Would be great to see you in Perth and know more of your thoughts on the prototypes by then.
We're working on it - stay tuned!
Great work. Thanks for this experimentation.
Key questions:-
1/ - in the Aus 4WD aftermarket industry is there room for counter-cultural "keep-it-light" AND less-is-more? If there is, Kaon is the brand I'd have hope in seeing exploring and promoting that!
2/ in that context, prob need to separate out key (and larger?) market: my 4WD is also my daily ride.
Particularities of daily ride market:-
- fuel economy
- dual/triple mode configs: a) commuter; b1) tourer; b2) off-road and remote camper/overlander.
FWIW
(My own thinking is formed out of taking my virtually stock 120 D4D from Brisbane to Mt Dare to travel Madigan Line - with no lift, no bull-bar, no roof-rack.
And would love to see you in Perth :)
Another vote for Perth, we're definitely working on it!
Outstanding work guys, just installed the rear table and storage system. That Molle rear window storage interests me but particularly wonder if the opportunity is on the one side where the wheel is already covering up the view 👍👍
great cant wait to see what after market parts you do for the fj cruiser
Thank you!
That's a clever usage of the shelf fence - will pass it on to our team!
Love this build series!! 💪🏼
Thank you for your support and for following along!
So stoked for this, as I have a 150 Prado with several Kaon items on it. Those water tank steps are amazing. Are they rock sliders, or just steps? Take my money now!
At the moment this prototype is just made to be steps, but we are working on ways we could enter production with a product that was sliders as well.
Definitely! Got to pick and choose what's best for your setup to optimise weights. Glad to hear you like how the steps turned out!
I’d be interested to see how the grills go on corrugated outback roads carrying a load. My concern would be one of those windows popping.
Plz bring it over to Perth would love to see it at the show
We're working on it!
@@KAONaust hope to see you there then sweet
Good work Tin... I'd be keen for the side steps water for a 200 Sahara... can never have too much water!
Be interesting to see how the side windows hold up on severe corrugated roads over distance and whether the opposing vibrational forces on the windows is dampened enough with these suction mounts
Thank you! We're currently doing a lot of tetsing on both of these, so far so good. :)
Looks great well done!!!
Thank you!
This is awesome …
Absolutely love this. Excellent work guys. Super keen on the rear window mount and water storage solution. When do you plan on bringing it to market? Cheers.
The window molle panels are a fantastic idea...hopefully you make one for a 78 series
We've got a lot of testing to do, but once we work through it, we will be making our way through other vehicles :)
Outstanding! Great build. With the exception of the white front bumper, looks awesome. (I prefer black) Any plans to make a prototype of the rear external window guards for a Discovery 2? I’ll buy them and test them.
Looks awesome
Thank you!
I need the side window molle panel!!
@@jaechun7074 sounds like we better get the product team cracking on thorough field testing!
Perfect set up Tin 👌🏻 Go on I'll see ya at the November 4x4 show here in Perth, I'll hook up something with my group, we can make it an event :)
Thanks Martin! We're working on it. ;)
That’s an awesome rig, personally I chose this model as well because of the no dpf etc. you could remove the 3rd row seats to create more space and reduce weight. Maybe you can fabricate a bolt in drawer system instead of the seats?? Happy to help you design!
Never fear, you are reading our minds - we have some ideas in store for the Prado storage yet.
@@KAONaust that’s awesome! My wishlist included into the draws would be wet/muddy storage or easy clean out. A very thin long drawer. Access like the kitchen spice pullout cupboards only smaller. For cans of food or sprays like lube or brake cleaner. 😉
Rear window rack please. Would be perfect as my pantry. Also, the covers on the outside of the rear window look fantastic.
Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for following along and for your support, it's great to hear we've been able to help you kit out your Pajero.
Definitely wanted to be clear about GVM, most folks don't need everything we've added, but it's good to keep it in mind!
Will pass on the suggestions to the team.
Awesome build mate. I have a few Kaon accessories on my 150 and build absolutely love the quality and the thought that has gone into assembly, not to mention your instructions are second to none. Better than ARB's and I like their products also.
Will you be coming to the Adelaide 4x4 show?
