I read her Wikipedia page and her list of books, that she authored, is rivaling every past-tense I needed to ascribe to woman's gentle care of their history in China, too! You should see her booklist! It's magic! Also, she is a City Commissioner in Los Angeles, now. Pretty aspiring in such a dark, uneventful age.
This sounds so good! I've been interested in learning more about the island of Jeju since I picked up a kids' book about it for my daughter last month.
I just completed it and I loved it so much, I laughed, I cried, Though I wished young sook and Mi ja have a real union in the end, nonetheless it was a fantastic read.
I love this book's premise. I've never heard of this community or anything like it so will definitely be researching more this way of ilving. Thanks for a great review!
I’m so glad you’re reviewing this one 😁. I need to make this one happen, because it sounds fantastic! Plus, I love the cover ☺️. Huh, I thought this was nonfiction! I didn’t realize it was an historical fiction....that’s ok, I’m still interested.
I'm pretty sure I thought it was a nonfiction and said that somewhere - it's a problem with not wanting to know much about books before going into them 😓 I really think you'll like this one! I really hope you're able to pick it up!!
I love that you take the time to ponder what you’re going to say! I’m a word vomit now, edit later kind of girl. 😂 Have you read Memoirs of a Geisha? It’s a similar concept of focusing on relationships and beauty standards while being propelled by major historical events (Great Depression into WWII) seen from a Japanese perspective. I like to consider myself a history buff, but it was still painful to be educated in truth-based storytelling!
I have heard of Memoirs of a Geisha, but only in name. Thank you for giving me more background. Honestly, now I've The Island of Sea Women and was surprised by it, I'll have to check out Memoirs of a Geisha! Thank you!!!
The Island of Sea Women sounds really interesting! Sounds like something I might enjoy. It made me think of Lone Wolf and Cub manga, there was a small side story featuring a community of Japanese female divers.
@@forbookingoutloud6698 it's about a lonely samurai travelling around the country with his son and seeking revenge. I only thought to mention it because of that one very small side story. I don't think the series as a whole would be your kind of thing, really
@@drawntostories5940 Yeah, I noticed that when looking at it, but it still might be interesting. When I am able to go to my library I might try to pick it up (but it still might be a while where I'm at).

Thank you! You, too, Steve!
