I love how Andy participates in these projects. I am sure there are rough moments but y'all both seem to handle things together with humor and grace. 💕
Thank you again to Andy for allowing us out here in the youtube audience to vicariously share in the satisfaction of a jammed full cupboard being emptied and all the stuff being sorted into categories and tidied away into correct spots. It's endlessly enjoyable and so motivating - you have no idea!
I get clear plastic shoe boxes to store many items, like batteries - then I know what's in it! Use a hook to hang the compost wheel inside the cabinet door. Cute ducks!
You must get a battery organizer. I bought one for my husband for Christmas, and he loves it. It mounts to the wall, so it saves valuable space.. The best part is it comes with a built in battery tester! We use it weekly. **I ordered it on Amazon.**
I agree 100%. I bought one after going through a storage process just like yours. I have never looked back! Shannon from Leaf Like on A Tree just showed one that she bought and it is really spacious. Worth it!!!
Throwing batteries ina box or bag is a fire safety issue. Especially the 9volts. The ends can touch heat up and catch your home on fire. I bought an organizer on Amazon that also has a battery tester to find out if they are good. Totally worth the $20 I spent.
You can also just put electrical tape over the prongs or leave them in the package. Remember if you save batteries for recycling to tape them again too.❤
@@EricaLucasLoves Yes! I once threw some batteries into my mom-bag as game re-supply on a road trip. Later I was shocked to find a very swollen very hot 9volt against some loose change at the bottom of the bag. No idea what the science is behind it, but we learned a family lesson and were so thankful it was found in time!
I love your husband. He has bought into your minimalist life and you are allowing him to keep things that you would have donated/trashed. This seems like a win/win. I loved the time-out with Jack and his drawings.
Vintage Erica and Andy at their best! Its amazing how impossible a huge random collection of stuff feels but when you break it down there is usually a sensible place already for all of it!
Love it! Here’s an idea for organizing small items- I use a lot of boxes- cereal, crackers, tea, etc. I cut down to the right size. Cereal boxes are great for pens, markers, etc in a drawer. Tea boxes great for index cards, etc. Then, if I want it to be pretty, I can cover in contact paper from Wal-Mart. Often if it’s in a cabinet I don’t cover it. So the boxes are all free- I look through my recycle bin or take the bag out of a cracker box to use it. Contact paper is about $5/roll and there are a lot of nice grey & white ones. So it’s fast- you don’t have to go to the store & cheap. I also buy cute labels at Walmart and just write on them with Sharpie- it’s bigger & easier & faster for me than a label maker. Love the actual decluttering decisions & projects! Thanks!
Tape! My kids get tape in their stockings at Christmas and aren't allowed to use mine! :) They get masking, duct, and regular scotch. I don't care WHAT they do with it, but they can't just mine.
I love books and they make me feel at home. I live in an RV so have limited space and use my kindle a lot. But… I still love the feel of a real book and do have a cupboard that has some books in it. When we are not traveling, I use the local library for new books to read, which helps keep the load down. Thank you for this video. I can fully appreciate how hard it is to declutter books and you did an awesome job!
I got my first kindle....think it was of the very first ones for reading books only when we first moved into our RV. You can join a library sometimes for a small fee in whatever town you are in for a month. The Fee entitles you to use that system for a year and then you can also get to download books to your kindle for that as long as you have a card. And I believe that the Brooklyn Library was allowing free memberships for on-line borrowing . Just a thought for you
Love you guys! You can deposit foreign money into your bank account. They'll convert it into dollars and deposit it. The will not take foreign coins though.
Ps I use sm cheap tupperware containers or pencil cases for things like command hooks. Please share the citronella candle project. I’m curious because I attrack mosquitos like crazy! Thx!
The French islands in the Caribbean also use Euros. And I would think about mounting a flashlight somewhere that everyone can reach, for emergency use.
Love the video! You guys are one of the coolest, sincere and real families on YT. Andy is so kind to share his hair tie with you hehe. Man, I could feel the love seeing the hug Andy gave Jack. Much blessings!!!
Great job! We used to have a very large "junk drawer" in the kitchen. About 3 or 4 years ago I cleaned it out and designated other places for the things we used to toss in there. Now we only keep very specific items in that drawer and it has stayed perfectly neat and organized. You essentially did the same thing with your junk cabinet and I suspect you'll find the same thing I did.
What is happening in your home is happening in mine....I initiated decluttering and reorganizing about 2 years ago. As my husband has found the convenience of knowing where things are and the "zen" of tidiness, he is now invested in doing this with his own possessions. Thank you for showing me (us) the beauty of not pushing a reluctant spouse. Becoming "Minimalish" can be contagious.
Last time I looked into replacing my kindle there was an option to send my old kindle for a small amount off my new one. Might be something to look into for the old kindle if you still have it. I think there is a way to take certain kindles off your account as well.
Love these videos 🙂i use small tool box from the dollar store for my batteries and my command hooks you can sort them like you want. Save time and money.
I really like your way to declutter: only 1 piece at the same time and it doesn't matter, that there is a clutter in another places. This is what I should learn. And I like your and Andy's realationship, very supporting and full of respect
It’s refreshing to see that men are mostly the same with their collection of random stuff. 😂 My bf has two areas that he does this: his nightstand and his side table (apartment life).
I recently decluttered and donated my college daughter’s beads I had previously organized in a plastic fish tackle box and repurposed the organized slots with the varying sizes of batteries. Bonus is it has a handle for carrying.
FYI - you may want to check storing 9 volt batteries in with others. I believe you want to put tape on the terminals as if they both touch metal they can start a fire.
Great job. You'll love having the baking stuff together. I was saying to my husband, I'm gonna be bummed if I don't see Ranger. Just as I was saying it, he popped in 😆 love it when I get a notification that you posted a new video.
That was a fantastic achievement. Reclaiming a press is always a bonus. I think it’s just as well we don’t have the Container Store in Ireland, I might be there best customer 🤔🤣 With all the work ye have done decluttering and organising putting stuff away is very easy for ye, well done 👏 Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 👏👍💪🙏💐🥳
Another great job, Andy! Your decluttering 💪are getting really big! Would love to see you featured in a small segment every week decluttering some area that you want to do!
Wow, what a project! :Finally you made it with your better half, Erica!! 🇩🇰😘👏 Impressing! Your husband reminds me so much of mine - makes me frustrated, makes me laugh and makes me happy! 😘
It’s a pleasure watching the two of you work together as a team. I also enjoy seeing you in your kids, like when Andy jumped up to look at the top shelf he reminded me of Rebecca.
Erica, I have never been in the Container Store...it's too expensive...I find all my organizing needs at Walmart, Goodwill , Trader Bucks or like you, look around the house...you two are so down to earth...thank you for sharing your process.
I love sets of clear drawers from container store for random stuff. I have a small set in my bathroom that holds extra contacts and extra toothbrushes etc, and a bunch of larger ones in the basement that hold everything. This includes hooks, furniture pads, brackets, duct and electrical tapes, gloves, paintbrushes, plumbing parts, switch plates, etc etc etc. You might not need so many if you don't do as much diy as we do but the beauty of the drawers is that you only buy as many stacks of 3 as you need. It might be good for Andy's beer stuff too.
I’d recommend taking the euros to the bank and depositing them into your account. I’ve done it before and it’s been a great way for me to not have them sitting around anymore.
Well done Andy👍 If you use that cupboard as a junk draw, you need clear boxes for Andy that fit the shelves inside.. Find out Andys/your "typical" junk categories and label the clear bins to fit his/your list..Just buy clear plastic tupperware to use (not expensive container store bins). The clear labeled containers will keep the cupboard better organized, the space is better used and things won't fall out because Andy can "throw" stuff in the boxes in the 'general, broad" categories.
OMG😆😅 IT was so funny to watch your husband declutter...it makes sense why the clutter happens...I kept seeing us in his actions. This was a GREAT video. The real life issue of dealing with all the things. I went straight to our school cupboard and put the bag of random cords in the car for Goidwill! THANK YOU, Erica.

Just an idea, why don’t you keep the Kindle for your oldest to use? My grandson is 11 and feels like he is hot stuff when he is reading on his. Anything to keep them reading right? 👍📚😊
You two work so well together. I was wondering if your husband being such a good agreeable worker and participant has anything to do with his military training? I admire his work ethic and participation in the decluttering projects.
Hi I just came across you guys this video today and I wanted to say I'm a butterfly too so I don't know how long you been doing this with the butterfly deal and you and your husband fit perfectly together especially with him being a b so he works with you and so I would really like to follow you in this journey cuz I have that same journey I got to do cuz I have all my stuff out like you did in your closet I watched that one the closet all you have some nice clothes I'm going to have to check out that what's it called what store will you order from but I just wanted to say hi and I really really enjoy watching your channel that was a good one with the kids separating the toys and the way you do it just put it all out together and everybody together it's just really good points so so I just wanted to say hi and I really enjoy watching you I think you'll really help me because you're a butterfly I watched clutterbug too 👍 oh yeah and you got a very cute dog that Shepherd when you get some good kids too my son's got a German shepherd and my sister's got a German Shepherd they're really good dogs so see you 😁❣️🐾👍🤗
Three years ago it would have been an argument that ended up with no progress. I think I’m more chill now about stuff so it’s easier for me to accept his process.
The ducks are so cool in your pool ! Fun. I was wating ti hear about the citrinella candles and more space for kitchen items :) Great job on the cupboard today.
Love so much how you and Andy work together on projects!1 You guys are such a great team! Just an idea :tackle boxes are the best for organizing batteries. The batteries can each go in their own little spaces and you can label what kind of battery it is by putting a label on the inside of the partition.
I hioe Andy has enough space in the kitchen to dump and run and tidy it all up later. Would it make sense to keep one roll of dog poop bags in the kitchen if Andy just grabs one on the way out? Check Ur wheel of compost. I'm pretty sure dog poop can go in unless they have just had worming or other medicine
The Caraway Sponsor was nooiiiice!!
I am OBSESSED with my Caraway pans.
I love how Andy participates in these projects. I am sure there are rough moments but y'all both seem to handle things together with humor and grace. 💕

Yes, getting husband's to decluter is quite somthing
I love it too! And his britches!

I’m trying to convince him to let me film him deal with his garage.
You can really tell the difference from this project with Andy compared to the first one. He’s becoming a decluttering pro just like you!!
We both have a hard time letting go of stuff but it’s different stuff now.
It's so awesome how your husband seems to have caught the declutter bug too. Love your videos
I get clear plastic shoe boxes to store many items, like batteries - then I know what's in it! Use a hook to hang the compost wheel inside the cabinet door. Cute ducks!

We have a Battery Daddy organizer
It has a handle to make it portable, handy battery tester. All our batteries fit every size.
We love it!
What about using rechargeable batteries…..that may be a option + the money you may save.
👍Yes, yes! We use the Battery Daddy, I have given them as gifts for adult kids.
love how your husband is involved in the decluttering.
I love how Andy has embraced the decluttering and is so funny and good natured on the videos. Bet you were happy to have that cabinet organized!

So fun to watch you guys working together as a family. ♥♥♥♥♥ Great job, Lucases!! 😄
Thanks for sharing how you've been cleaning one chunk of junk at a time.
Finally the junk cabinets!! :)
The vids with the hubby are some of my favorites! :D
