She was able to create a show from what many young women asked her about modeling and what she thought would be great to see in the industry. She also knew one needed to stand out when so many models may have the same look such as shoulder length brunette hair. Remember it was a reality show, but there were a real modeling agency representing the winner and I am sure they made their thoughts known what they wouldn't really represent going forward. My question would next be have anybody seen fashion shows throughout the world. Vivien Westwood, Betsey Johnson, Terry Muglar. What is done to hair for a show, a photo shoot depending on editorial or catalog. Many would NOT HAVE UA-cam CONTENT IF AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL WAS NOT CREATED.
Tyra's choices on thst show have always been EXTREMELY questionable. Remember when she had one girl leave after she refused to lose her tooth gap and then like 4 cycles later made another girl leave after convincing her to significantly WIDEN her tooth gap? And lets not forget the "Race Swap" that happened TWICE where she actually had contestant in black face.
The same happened to Dominique from Cycle 10, they gave her a Karen haircut and then in the panel, the judges told her she looked like a "Soccer Mom" in lingerie photoshoot. Then, why the hell are you giving her that makeover! I'm glad in Cycle 17, All Star Cycle, she's rocking her long hair and even resemble J-Lo
Honestly, I liked Shei’s makeover but on a practical standpoint it was stupid to do since as a model it just made it more difficult for her to book anything as most clients wouldn’t be up for that sort of look
Agreed. I feel like I've seen her makeover as one of the worst on multiple lists but I've always loved it. I do agree with the video that bleaching the one eyebrow wasn't necessary, and with you that such a distinct look would make it more difficult to be seen as the "blank canvas" ideal of a model, but I just thought she looked great and it was cool to see how having the 2 tones let her play with which side she wanted to play into for any given shoot.
When I was younger when watching the show, I was thinking: "Why are these girls crying for their hair? It's just a hair." But then, when I'm older, I understand their pains and sadness. These contestants don't deserve to get those makeovers.
same ! The show always played it off like their pain was due to vanity or they were just being over dramatic... rewatching the show now it just looks so horrible !
So what I’m learning from watching these and other videos is that ANTM hates natural black hair. I don’t think a single girl on their show was left with their gorgeous natural curls in tact! Look what they did to Jade’s Afro in cycle 6! She ended up looking like she had uncooked ramen stuck to her head!
working the industry you don't want so many people in your hair causing it to break naturally. Easier for them to over style what isn't your natural hair because the most fragile hair is Black hair (studied information in school). Have you seen fashion shows around the world.
Tyra is just the worst. She almost always gave these girls AWFUL makeovers and then bullied them because the girls knew they were awful makeovers. I've never understood why people like her
Good P.R. At the time her show's gimmick was it accepted model misfits -- too short, too old, not sample sized, too dark (let's be painfully real) or the wrong body type. What these young women should have realized is they are pretty but not model material. And tyra had no ability to influence who was cast for what professional shows in the real world. Tyra was a has-been riding on her past reputation
@@frankieseward8667 problem was she also got HUGE in the 90s and had to morph into other areas of the fashion biz when she couldn't fit into the sample sizes 🙄
The hosts always sent girls home for being ungrateful but they didn't exactly churn out the industry megastars needed to justify being shitty to the models like that.
One thing that makes me so mad is the comment, "its just hair" having hair that your are used to and helps you feel good about yourself shouldn't be a problem. These models have a right to feel the way that they feel.
@@ambraliving And why not ensure that you continue to have a successful career that is remembered well by sabotaging up and coming threats to your legacy?

Even the owner of the salon was also confused why would they bring an extention to his own salon! I feel sorry to Molly and I can tolerate her grumpiness on that episode, I would be mad as hell too if someone giving me a giant ramen in my head.
Her hair texture was totally incompatible with the weave. How could a professional stylist not know that? The salon owner was horrified and rightfully so! That weave specialist….I don’t think so!
I wish some of the contestants would have had the confidence to go with their gut and say "no" to Tyra when they felt very strongly that the makeover would not work for them or that they hated it. Not even necessarily saying "no", so much as "can we try...?" or "can we compromise on...?" etc.
There is one season when there are 2 contestants said No which is the College season. One is regretted it and decided to curl her hair and the other decided to leave the show because she kept asking her purpose on the show.
There were girls that did say no or tried to compromise, but they either got sent home, chose to leave for their own sanity, or given the crybaby edit.
A lot of things in top model was really questionable. . . Like I wouldn't have just cried because of my hair cuz my hair is a little sentimental to me because of my mom but like them photoshoots would have had me packing cuz some of them went from dangerous to straight up just disrespectful
My conspiracy theory is that Tyra legit thought that this was the best option for her - and I agree, if she cut that extra inch off it would have been so cool! But then she and/or the producers saw the Drama & Great TV(tm) that followed, and started doing wild things to the girls purely to recreate that moment.
OMG! THE TOOTH THING AT THE END WAS THE LAST STRAW! I must have missed that one, or it quit watching the show by then. Tyra is a horrible, miserable human being to have done that to that girl's teeth.
As a kid, I always hated the makeover episodes. I never understood why ppl would get on the show knowing there would be a MANDATORY makeover. Looking back I hate it more because of what it did to their self esteem.
I would have only agreed to a buzzcut or otherwise extremely short hair under the condition that Tyra personally buy me like a human hair lacefront if I hate it lol.
I strongly disagree with a few of these especially the two tone, I have two tone hair (I've had it for years) and I love it and thought hers looked good too. But I always was repulsed by Trya Banks' behavior and the mistreatment of the contestants. For someone claiming they are having only the best professional do those haircuts/styles, most of the weaves look horrendous and they don't understand how to style pixie cuts.
You people are high....just because Cassandra didn't like her hair and she left because of it, doesn't meant that her makeover wasn't stunning. Go home MsMojo.
The whole show together with the tyra, the judges and stylists and everyone involved was problematic. I remember a cycle where a girl was ridiculed for having a butt that's a bit bigger and how it reflected on her walk
The last "makeover" crossed a line for me. As expensive as dental care is there is no way I would let anyone shave my teeth or m make any silly changes that is be stuck with.
Honestly, the moment anybody suggests permanent altercations to my body I would have said no. Everybody on that show was a bully and used cheap wigs and weaves.
What about Michelle in cycle 4 who had natural dark brown hair a platinum blonde haircut and then as time went on the brown started coming back especially at the roots and started looking horrible. They really should of kept up with her hair after she got it done
Also I saw an interview where she mentioned because they bleached her hair so intensely so fast, it burnt her scalp and left open sores which is how they think she got her skin infection on the show
it was SO ironic that they did that for Chelsea when with Danielle who had a NATURAL gap, Tyra wanted it *completely* closed, and made fun of the fact that Danielle had a gap. Crazy.
This cracks me up! A model is someone who literally has to mold into someone else job by job. I can’t deal with these people crying over their hair! 😂😂
I remember watching Kari's makeover in horror, wondering who on earth that inside-and-out *lovely* girl had pissed off so badly that they'd do something so hideous to her. That makeover was so far beyond "just bad," it seemed downright malicious.
Why do the judges blame the models for a bad photo sometimes when it's the hair style that makes the picture look bad, it seems like they don't like to admit that hair stylists on the show don't always do a good job.

Amanda's makeover is one of the best makeovers from the entire show, it made her look Ethereal and beautiful.
She was already beautiful. I didn't like her makeover. It's bad enough that she can't see well at all.
What I don't like about the make over it's that they made her hair look yellow not platinum blonde. But regardless of that she looked stunning
And the most important part is that, unlike other girls in this list, Amanda DID ENJOY her makeover
Dani did end up caving in and closed the gap, she did win the cycle, but it was still horrible.
Everyone of these lists are missing Renee from season 8. They complained she look old but gave her a Karen-haircut that aged her 10 years.
100000% she looked younger when she had her own haircut then this Karen hairstyle !!
She was beautiful, but clearly very troubled
you're right!!!!!!
I remember in a Go-Sees challenge, one of the clients even asking why did she need to have different eyebrow color too.
I liked it too, she had a unique enough personality to pull it off, however I can imagine it'd be a challenge as a model.
One thing I wish the makeover crew of antm is : NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE BLONDE OR HAVE A PIXIE CUT
Exactly
Saleishas mushroom bob was HILARIOUS!! 🤣🤣🤣
It was, but I admired her for still having so much confidence with it.
Tyra and everyone involved in ANTM needs apologize for the hell they put these people through throughout the years.
Shaving her teeth was next level. No way!
When I was younger when watching the show, I was thinking: "Why are these girls crying for their hair? It's just a hair."
But then, when I'm older, I understand their pains and sadness.
I wonder way jaded haircut wasn’t mentioned
@@ambraliving ok but models still have the right to say no in the real world
Tyra is just the worst. She almost always gave these girls AWFUL makeovers and then bullied them because the girls knew they were awful makeovers. I've never understood why people like her
Before this she broke ground as a model. First African woman to be Sport illustrated is a big deal. She was huge in the 90s.
No they sent them home for not being able to push through it.
@@arronmalt Tiffany literally got scolded in the most condescending way possible for seeming ungrateful.
YaYa DeCosta is the only one I remember truly making a name for herself. She plays April on Chicago Med
@@michellewhiteley79 Winnie Harlow as well.
Why is Amanda on this list?! Her make over was one of the best! Except that the blonde was a too yellow but it was the early 2000s
It's not just hair... It's time, money and even confidence.
One thing that makes me so mad is the comment, "its just hair" having hair that your are used to and helps you feel good about yourself shouldn't be a problem. These models have a right to feel the way that they feel.
the red curls looking amazing on the second gurl. most of them looking amazing afterwards
Get tyrant Tyra to shave her hair off. Not a chance I’d have anyone lobbing my hair off!!
That's your opinion about Tyra
My opinion she would rock the shaved
Head look.
Time 2:31PM Sun 5/16/21
@@neddyconstant5816 obviously it my opinion? 🙄
@@suzeelewis718
YES DUMMY.
Time 11:20AM Sat 8/14/21
She actually doesn't have much. Its short. She wears wigs or weaves. That why she had their's taken off. Jealousy most likely.
It's like Tyra was trying to destroy her competition with these makeovers...
She was never competing with the young women on the show, she had a successful career and moving on to other things when she created the show.
@@ambraliving And why not ensure that you continue to have a successful career that is remembered well by sabotaging up and coming threats to your legacy?
I felt so bad for Molly. I know a lot of viewers were calling her a bitch for complaining, but frankly I think it was warranted
Same. Lord they edited her so bad. She is such a sweet and hilarious person. We all have grumpy moments. And yeah I'd be pissed too if they put that thing on my head. Lol
Even the owner of the salon was also confused why would they bring an extention to his own salon! I feel sorry to Molly and I can tolerate her grumpiness on that episode, I would be mad as hell too if someone giving me a giant ramen in my head.
That thing looked like a cheap Halloween wig from the dollar store
Her hair texture was totally incompatible with the weave. How could a professional stylist not know that? The salon owner was horrified and rightfully so! That weave specialist….I don’t think so!
6:37 Billie Eillish before Billie Eillish
11:30 Shei's hair is definitely fashionable by today's standards
Wait a minute, Amanda’s platinum blonde with her blue eyes was stunning. Straight up Ice Queen! ✨❄️✨❄️✨❄️
Phil's hair could have looked cute if it wasn't for the AWFUL cheap, synthetic-hair looking extensions they used.
His natural grown out hair looked great!
why do they keep giving ✨C R A Z Y✨ makeovers when in fact it is not necessary irl
It is apparent that Tyra's production company went the cheap route when it came to hair dressers.
Ms Mojo articulating that lump I had as a kid in my tummy I couldn't explain in the makeover episodes so well. Tyra was savage
I absolutely loved Shei’s two toned hair. She rocked it!!
This list is okay, but there are definitely some on here that are NOT “worst looks”
Number 20 look was not bad.
@@salifyanjikunda5426 I think I’m that case it was how the makeover completely destroyed that girls self esteem
Amanda's makeover is totally fit to her especially it was contrast to her icy blue eyes (even though she revealed it's a disease)
It's crazy because when I look at America's real top models, most of them are not really rocking unconventional hairstyles outside of photo shoots
I wish some of the contestants would have had the confidence to go with their gut and say "no" to Tyra when they felt very strongly that the makeover would not work for them or that they hated it. Not even necessarily saying "no", so much as "can we try...?" or "can we compromise on...?" etc.
Completely agree, but that person would have been destroyed in the edit, sadly
A few did and I think they left the show or were eliminated. If you said no, likely you'd leave.
I cannot believe you put Amanda’s bleached look in here! It’s one of my all time favourite looks in this show and she absolutely nailed it!!
WOW Amanda’s makeover was STUNNING!!!
Phil looked fine AF in that instagram shot after he grew his hair out. Tyra was wrong af for those extensions 😂😂😂
Crazy part about her making her widen the gap is she talked down to another model for not wanting to close her gap
A lot of things in top model was really questionable. . . Like I wouldn't have just cried because of my hair cuz my hair is a little sentimental to me because of my mom but like them photoshoots would have had me packing cuz some of them went from dangerous to straight up just disrespectful
Where’s Ava (C22)? Her mullet makeover was the worst!
Exactly !!
I really felt for Molly because not just did that weave look awful but she was in a lot of pain with it because it was far too tight.
I would’ve NEVER let someone put a gap between my teeth. That was way over the line.
6:36 Christina did the green and black before Billy did. Billy rocked it but I think Christina rocked it too.
Cassandra Jean's farrow cut was my favourite pick 😀
Exactly. The short cut looked way better on her.
I always wondered that too. Plus why they couldn't walk in high heels. As a former model myself, I practiced that knowing how important that was.
The make overs are unbelievable! I had no idea models went through so much humiliation! I guess it works for some but not most!
Hey msmojo maybe you could make a list for the top 10 cutest Disney and Pixar characters.
Anyone else binge watch Brad Mondo’s reaction?
I love Amanda’s icy blonde hair.
I really don't understand why it's on this list 🤨
@@inkeriananas Yeah, exactly ✨
Exactly. Her makeover was the best of the cycle.
I loved Jaeda's pixie. It suits her face
Do “top 10 couples you can tell are unhappy on house hunters”
wtf is Tyra thinking with half of these makeover they looked better before
80% looked much better before
I would have only agreed to a buzzcut or otherwise extremely short hair under the condition that Tyra personally buy me like a human hair lacefront if I hate it lol.
What cycle?
@@visualbeauty3427 Danielle's cycle Wendy. She stuck her but out as she walked on the runway.
I just love me some Candace…over the years I have learned so much and I feel like I know u, thank u! Keep up the great work and may God bless u!
two toned hair is extremely popular especially recently which made me love Shei's hair so much tbh
i have a love/hate relationship with alina and kari’s hair 😂
The last "makeover" crossed a line for me. As expensive as dental care is there is no way I would let anyone shave my teeth or m make any silly changes that is be stuck with.
Tyra banks took out all her frustrations on these models
At 14:23 is Molly's Mushroom Bob, which I think looks great. I'd be happy to have that cut and style. Enjoyed the show.
Honestly, the moment anybody suggests permanent altercations to my body I would have said no. Everybody on that show was a bully and used cheap wigs and weaves.
I actually really like Shei’s makeover then and now. I think it looks super cool on her and she kind of pulled it off 🤍🖤
You could play with my hair but my TEETH are a complete FUCKING NO NO‼️🙀🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣
In my opinion, Jaeda's hair made her look so good!
15:02 I see what you did msmojo you shady channel lol 😂
Next the top 20 best makeovers
I'd put Cycle 16's Brittani on the top there!
🤣🤣🤣the lace front
All of the models that Tyra made get some jacked up hairdo should have cursed Tyra out when they got eliminated. Tyra was all kinds of wrong.
ngl christina's dipped green was awesome and it looked amazing on her.
Amanda's? Really? That was so iconic! I do agree with the rest, although I've always loved how Jaeda looked with her short hair.
Tyra has never been known for having class, style or good taste.
Why do the judges blame the models for a bad photo sometimes when it's the hair style that makes the picture look bad, it seems like they don't like to admit that hair stylists on the show don't always do a good job.
Tyra is such a narcissist, using these beautiful women as her own personal dolls
