"Just another Beatle Fan Channel" you're thinking I s'ppose ?... Well yes. But with a new approach.
Away from the usual clichés on the Beatles everyone goes through all the time everywhere, away from the mandatory topics attached to the Beatles, away from the conventional esthetics most Beatles channels have... I want this channel to have a different look as well as a different outlook and take on the band once called "The Beatles", the most influential, socially significant, commercially most popular and culturally most worshipped music band in the history of the Western world. This channel wants to look through a new prism.
It will use other means and elements to go through usually overlooked subjects in their history, usually neglected characters, ignored notions in their narrative, unusual views or non politically-correct angles on certain aspects... Well you see the spirit.
Because what tends to be obvious these days when you go through all the Beatles related channels across UA-cam, is the monotonous conception and predictability of most videos really, no offense...
Basically, in most cases you do end up either with some slightly sad, slightly lost, slightly lonely chubby boomer going through their "vinyl collection" like they were talking to themselves out loud really... Or you might come across some trendy 25-year-old New Jersey hipster, often nice but also often corrupted by product endorsements, telling all about various existing Brazilian vinyl pressings of "Abbey Road"...
Not to mention the unavoidable channels of "tribute-bands/ look-alike tribute-bands", complete with wigs and Sgt. Pepper outfits, delivering cringy renditions of "This Boy" on cheap out-of-tune guitars before extatic devotees holding out smartphones, somewhere in a Liverpool "Beatle museum" of some sort or in some "Beatles convention" upstate Arizona, USA...
Call me ugly but, remembering John's clear sarcastic and iconoclast tendencies and views on all myths including the Beatles' myth and his loathing of silly stereotypes, I can't help envisioning what the personal John Lennon's take would have been on Beatles "tribute-bands" had he lived !... But that's another story.
My point being : the Beatles always stood for staying away from conventions, away from any "group mentality" and away from any flock of sheeps.
One must NOT forget that before becoming themselves The Establishment in many ways, The Beatles and especially John Lennon always stood for "Political Incorrectness", always stood for "non-conventional", always spoke for all the underdogs and always proposed new paths to their audience. The Beatles were always in themselves a world apart from all the rest.
Some might say it seems today they have become The Rest.
The Beatles were the very opposite of a corporate company and the very opposite of a "formula-type band". And they spoke a language which was the very opposite of a Corporate Language.
It was a language of truth, and most of all, one of sincerity.
The instinctive language of sincerity. And I believe we must remember this.
... However big Paul and Ringo will always remain in my heart and however vast my gratitude will always be towards their talent and genius, I can't help but feel a bit depressed when I realise that all that's left of my sweet beloved Beatles today is an empty and purely commercial Macca acting like he's on automatic pilot, telling the exact same three Beatle anedotes litterally everywhere he goes, and one freshly died-haired lost Ringo going "peace and love peace and love peace and love" whenever asked about anything, like some ludicrous robot with a bug he can't shake off... I mean, really ?...
I personally think the Beatles deserve better than that... But let's say I'm just a nasty idealist.

If I watched everything Beatle related on UA-cam I wouldn't get anything else done and frankly would waste alot of my valuable time, So I am careful not to join everything, I want to discover any tidbits I might have missed before! Bur that doesn't include someone's rant of the new Atmos release or ranking the Top 10 Beatles picture discs of all time.
One thing that I respect John for, that he tries to be as honest as possible
And he’s all about growing and improving himself and his family’s too. He’s a true thinker and a good sense of humor and he’s seems so happy. Yeah his honesty about his pros and cons ;Self-awareness etc.
Yes, that's very true. I bet he would struggle to understand how artists now have to tiptoe around worrying about offending those with a paper thin ego.
Just knowing that hours from the time this was recorded, he was gone, gives me chills. Still hurts all these years later. He had so much left to give.

There are some indications that the album was selling poorly, and this is one of them. He was turning his attention to the next one.
I feel the same. We were deprived of The Beatles being in each other's company again. Double Fantasy was not a great album when it was released. John was comfortable with himself and was keen to release more records. He would have been thrilled with the new wave of Beatles fans who weren't born when the boys were together.
Over 40 years later, and this still feels so tragic.
It still affects me all the time. So Tragic. Miss him so much.

While history has shown how difficult it is to continue writing hit songs over a lifetime (some would argue after you are 30/40) the ability for John to record at home using the technology of the last 20 yearsand to experiment (like Paul) would have been sometime to see and hear. !

As a huge John Lennon fan this breaks my heart every time I hear it.
I can’t get my head around the idea of the murderer being outside the Dakota while Lennon is giving this interview, then fatally taking his life a few hours later.
I will be travelling to the Dakota this December for the memorial for the first time.

I was 7 when this happened. Home from school w. A fever and strep throat. My Dad was up watching Monday Night Football.

My head was buzzing from fever,medicine and a "hot toddy" my Mom maid to help me try to relax and sleep..

I knew exactly who John Lennon was. Having older siblings,you bet I knew The Beatles etc..anyway,for what a 7yr old in 1980 would understand.
What I remember was the tv news
Coverage...All the people outside the Dakota. The Memorial in Cental Park days later.
Back then,7yr Olds only watched Saturday am cartoons.
Have a safe trip my friend! My heart is still broken, tears are being shed even now EVERY SINGLE TIME I think of the waste of such a beautiful talented man. I will, as always, have my heart there in spirit. We love you John. Thanks for the joy and the memories and the music. Thanks for being the unique, talented person you are. You ARE missed. 😢😢😢

I woke up to the news of the death of John Lennon on my clock radio. I was 19 years old in my freshman year of college. I cried my eyes out. It was unbearable. I had just sent my future husband back to the Navy to finish out his Mediterranean tour. It was one of my saddest days. 😢 I am 62 years older this year. When Now and Then came out in November, I cried again with the original version. I am so happy that Yoko Ono gave this to Paul McCartney. This interview is wonderful. We are so fortunate to have it. Thank you for sharing it. 😊
The saddest thing for me is that John really seemed to be at his happiest. Creating new music because he wanted to, not because he had to. The sickeningly obsessed individual couldn’t shake off his murderous desire to wipe out a musical artist/icon. John wanted to give so much more and was denied this so brutally and unnecessarily and then the world were denied him too, none more so than his nearest and dearest. 🙏🏼❤️💔🙏🏼
John seemed to really be in his element during the interview conversation. He seemed quite concerned that the pen wouldn't write when he wanted to sign the poster for someone. He sounded so genuinely disappointed at not being able to pull off something he knew would make someone else happy. You could sense the empathy of the man when John added thoughtfully, "I'm a fan too and I like people to sign books and things." God love him.
I don't know about anyone else but the day he died I shed some tears. I don't do that too often. I remember that horrible feeling of the world losing an energy for good. People were spiritually touched by John Lennon because he spoke with his heart and people listened. That is very rare in this world.
Oh sure, Elvis, Lennon, MJ, JFK, people get emotional when iconic figures die, especially when it's before their time.
Ahh thats what they want you to see...you read Fred's book it paints a different realistic light. Don't assume just because you hear John and Yoko talking all nice..."we are in love eating cake in a bag"
What I said is how I think people felt. So someone wrote a book. Of course, all relationships and people are flawed in some way. If you seek perfection and utter harmony even if you go to a monastery, or Buddhist temple even there you will find imperfection. Many fans globally, including me, cried with you. For me, the tragedy was not that he left us permanently, but there died the chance permanently of a Beatles reunion!

I was 16 when he was nurdered. Before he died i had posters of him and the Beatles - on my bedroom walls. His death was devastating to many people. I still miss him. ☮️💟

No matter what happens in life, you never forget those that you love, and love you. Regardless of any past hard feelings. There is always a soft spot in your heart for those people you know love you, and you once loved. That feeling...is always there with you. It was for John as well. "John, Paul, George, and Ringo"...four lads from Liverpool, England, that changed each other's lives, AND the WORLD.
It breaks my heart that just hours later, John would be dead; a life that had gone through so much turmoil and offered so much joy taken from the world by a piece of garbage whose name should never be mentioned for absolutely no reason. He was so full of optimism. His wit still intact. An articulate and entertaining speaker whose interviews could have lasted forever and never got dull. The world still aches for you and misses you, Johnny.
When I was in law school, (1982) my Immigration Law Professor (Leon Wildes) was Lennon’s Immigration Lawyer during the time Nixon’s INS cronies were trying to deport John. He had tremendous respect for John’s wit, his empathy and kindness and his intellect. During the years Prof Wildes was fighting the INS, he and John became close friends… he used to share wonderful stories and insights about the “Private John” … he was funny AF, at times sarcastic, but he was a generous, warm and gentle soul.

I absolutely love how John didn’t care one bit what anybody thought of Yoko. He was ready to spend the rest of his life with her and he paraded her for the whole world to see. He loved her and that was that. I love that about him.

Yeah Yoko ono the witch who used his blood splattered glasses for her album cover to benefit from the sympathy generated after his death that could have led to record sales but fortunately that never happened because her voice was so atrocious that even the death of an icon like her husband was not enough to boost her sales. ....what kind of a human being does that even animals are more considerate about each other then that laughing hyena ever was for her deceased husband....sold everything he owned as memorabilia and made his first son fight in court for the letters he had written to his dad and banned his mother and John's first wife cynthia from attending her ex husband's funeral...both her and John were perfect for each other in a way that they were just like each other that is self obsessed narcissists who thought that they were better than everybody else..
The fateful downfall comment is an inaccurate and unfair assessment of a person's life whom you've never even met.
Yoko gave John heroin the first time they met. That killed lennons drive and is what imo led to the breakup
He's so full of life that it's easy to be there with him in those moments. Who knows what happens next to any of us and to all of us, so you can only live this day and hope for the future. Shine on John.

Much ambivalence about this last interview. Yes, I want to hear his voice, and I want to hear his philosophy about the many things he spoke of.
Then there's the other side of it. A side that can never change, a side that leaves you heartbroken, especially because you can hear that John was so full of life and hope for the future.
If time travel were possible, John would be un-murdered as soon as possible, along with Lincoln, JFK, RFK, and MLK, and he'd be at the top of that list.
I just love when the reporter asks them a question and then Yoko would start to answer , then John would cut right in and answer the question(s).
I was with a female coworker playing Walls and Bridges, and Rock 'n' Roll talking about John and the Beatles.
Afterwards, we turned on WLS AM, Chicago and heard that John had been shot.
A very sobering moment.
I'll never forget it, even after 23 years.

Yes, that particular John Lennon comment ("...when I'm dead and buried and I hope that's a long long time") breaks my heart. What's even weirder is I first heard that quote by itself in a documentary which DID NOT reference WHEN the quote is from. I only realized years later that this particular quote is literally from the December 8, 1980 interview. So sad!!

I heard him say it on a radio interview promoting the comeback album. About a week or two later he was gone. But I remember that quote very clearly because I had never heard anyone speak that bluntly about death. Frankly, when I heard it as a teenager, I was a bit taken aback -- found it to be a bit crude and obnoxious and yet at the same time somewhat spiritual... The point is that I suspect he knew very well that life was very fleeting and tomorrow is never promised.
@@Better_Call_Raul Well said. I also think the lyrics of the song BORROWED TIME (which was finally released in 1984) are almost eerie. They truly seem to reference the fact that he knows life can't be taken for granted and could end at ANY time.
@@eaaivazian Also note that "Walking On Thin Ice" was the last song he played on. Recorded just days before. Song was officially credited to Yoko. Lots of eeriness surrounding his final days. Yoko also said that psychics they had consulted told them that John had a dark future. I'm not into the supernatural. Not at all. But it is interesting that they would consult a psychic. Or I-Ching or whatever it was that they consulted. My guess is that Yoko was the one more into the supernatural as John seemed like the more logical person given his _"I don't believe in I-Ching!"_ lyric.
John and Yoko clearly loved each other. They seemed to really respect and truly accept each other. The pain for Yoko only a few hours later when realising he been ripped away in such a violent way, must have been indescribable. So very tragic and such a waste. God bless this wonderfully talented man 🕊.

Just hearing them both just shows that they're just people doing their best for their family. You can really hear the love. Really tired of the Yoko bashing. They loved each other so much, and love is all you need.
I hope the Yoko haters can take a moment to consider that maybe John knew what was best for him maybe more than you do. Trust his judgement.
They both sounded so happy, vibrant, excited, and optimistic. What an absolute tragedy that John's voice was silenced so soon, and that a family would lose their husband/dad so shortly after this interview.
People often label Dylan "the voice of a generation", but it's a falsehood and one he has always rejected..in fact, after his bike accident ('66) Bob retreated to Woodstock & made quiet, unassuming (albeit great) music. John, by contrast,became more vocal about social issues as the 60s bled into the 70s..and gave voice to his generation. A brave, incredibly gifted and beloved artist whose musical legacy will endure long after we're all dust...roll on, John...
I was a junior in high school when John was murdered. I still miss him and it was very difficult to listen to the Beatles a lot for a couple decades. My kids all love the Beatles so thats what I can do for the legacy. John seemed to have matured so much, I would have loved to hear more from him. Such a shame he didn't get more time, but we are the better for the time we had him. Long Live the Beatles, long live John Lennon.
It’s amazing how they can differentiate the 60’s and 70s so well when they were so close to it. I think the last two decades feel exactly the same with very little difference.
John didn't bother about the Beatles he created towards the end. Preferring to combine with Yoko to continue with his musical abilities was his fated downfall!
John was so happy, positive and creative in this interview. If you believe in an afterlife I'd say he took that positive spirit with him and left us his and Yoko's message of PEACE.✌️

When John said “We all survived…” made me sad because within 24 hours he was gone. So thankful I was part his his generation and could experience him first hand… meaning in real time. Miss you John. Peace to Yoko. ✌🏻
He was a threat to the establishment and that’s why they killed him. Do your research beyond the corporate media cover story and you’ll see it’s true. That’s how powerful his art was. Staggering really, no musician now comes even close to having that kind of courage and cultural and political significance. He wasn’t perfect especially in his youth. John was the first rock star to have the courage to drop the macho act and be a sort of gentle warrior. What a tragic loss to humanity.

I remember the exact moment i heard about John's death. I had just turned 24 that October, i had a friend over and we were watching an MSU basketball game. Breaking news came on and they said John had been killed, it was devastating news. We cried, just couldn't believe it was true, yet knowing it was. I just turned 67 last month, hearing this interview is good to hear but so sad at the same time knowing what was to come that night. He sounded content and happy with his life, matured and confident. He had just turned 40 two months before, he was coming into middle age and ready to settle down. It seems so unfair that he didn't get to enjoy those years, tragic. To this day he is greatly missed by millions of people, myself being one of them.
I saw The Beatles in Portland OR on my 9th birthday ! It was 22 Aug 1965. It was the best place to be on Earth.
I heard of John's death from the radio, on the freeway. I violently pulled over and went into shock.

Awesome that you saw the Beatles in the heyday of Beatlemania. I too went into a kind of shock at his murder. It effected me more than people in my own family who had died. It was senseless and brutal.

Hearing him talk about surviving the 60s and 70s, and where there's life there's hope and his work won't be done until he's dead and buried and he hopes that's a long long time is so haunting and upsetting, especially knowing that he was killed that night
You can tell during this interview John was ready to get back into making music, he was ready to take on the 1980’s, I imagine had he hadn’t died, he would’ve made more great music with him experimenting with the sounds of the 80’s with elements of rock, new wave and synth-pop, I also think he would’ve been impressed with the birth of MTV, and loved artists and bands like Madonna, Huey Lewis and the News, Duran Duran and Michael Jackson unfortunately he never got to see any of that 😢
So true. From what I understand John was about to start writing with Paul again. He had been impressed by Paul’s song Coming Up, which helped encourage him to write new material (also hearing the B-52s Rock Lobster on TV convinced him new wave had room for unusual voices like Yoko). In ‘Just Like Starting Over’ there is a line ‘it’s time to spread our wings and fly, don’t let another day go by’ which name checks Paul’s solo music (‘another day’) and of course his band Wings. In a way, he may have been writing a love song to both his life partner Yoko and his old writing partner Paul.
I can’t even imagine what John would have made. Even now, with a home studio, had he lived. He was never satisfied with production on his music, even classics like Strawberry Fields, he wasn’t happy with. I really wonder if he would have started recording, himself, in his own way, at home. These days that’s kind of what everybody does.
@brainswashedthisways My dad was from the beatles era...im self taught on guitar and my dad taught me everything I know about writing lyrics for my songs.. he taught me each verse can be about anything or anybody and as long as it fitted together that many could relate and so it would be a good track...very clever teaching because it worked and so j agree.. he was talking to his best friend and it was coming across as them being love songs to her..

This still hurts me to the core. That morning was merely the beginning of just another day. god bless him, he was so enthusiastic and excited about resuming his career and he was almost giddy about going out on tour, etc. He was like a kid all over again. I still mourn his loss. I sometimes use his life as an influence and a guide as to how to live my life each day. I'll give you an example. Relatives I hadn't seen in years were gathering for a wake of the wife of one of my cousins. Narcissistically enough, I was dead nervous. We were close as kids, but that was 40 (plus) years ago. The one thought that made it easy to go was imagining John showing up somewhere. You knew he should, you weren't sure he would, and yet, there he was. Once I mellowed, I could focus on consoling him in his grief. I can bring to my own life what all of us fantasize about what John could bring to pop culture, especially now. His murder will always be painful to me.
He was still human with terrible flaws and while he admitted a lot of them, he was still not this man you should place on a high pedestal. At least in my opinion. I’m speaking from a mind like his son Julian’s mind though and knowing what he did in those days and to his first wife. I read her books. I still admire John for his talent and creativity and his words of positivity and peace but he was still very troubled.

His story is an admirable story of redemption into how the mistakes he made as a youth shaped the man he had become by this stage in his life. John was always evolving, growing from his terrible childhood and past. To focus only on his early mistakes misses the point of who he became (because of, not in spite of) those early mistakes. That’s what is so admirable of him and how he owned all of it

This is the most definitive piece about the Lennons that I've ever heard. Keep your eyes on the video and one begins to feel far more intimate with him so the effect is powerful. Ultimately I come away thinking John was immensely relatable. He was always talking about what was on his mind as it was on his mind ("I want to hold your hand" is a desire) and his mind was relatable. John Lennon was an intellectual Everyman. Paul is the heart of Everyman. That's what made them a pair. It strikes me that Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had the same pairing but Paul became better at developing and communicating his heart so no longer needed Art. There's poetry in that🎶
As I listen to this, I'm amazed how profound John was about society. What would he think about today's madness? He was right about politicians being unable to make a difference (as evidenced by the global debacle) and his idealism about individualism actually makes me sad. If only. Whenever I listen to John's songs or interviews, I always hope there's a different ending and then reality kicks in. I can imagine our world might have been different if that tragic night had not occurred. He's so optimistic and clearly enjoying life on what would be his last day. It all remains unimaginable to me still even though I've had 43 years for it to sink in. God bless you, John...RIP.
Such a loss of a great human being artist, great thinker, authentic and with a lot of heart. I still have trouble thinking about what happened to him and how one person can end the life of another and telling people he was a big fan. I really enjoyed this interview and it saddened me thing of what could have been if he were still here.

Just listening to him explaining a typical day in their household got me very teary. Knowing that his death will tragically affect everyone around him forever is truly truly heartbreaking.

I am so proud of the Lennon fans that they never mention the name of that monster that took John away. The only thing he wanted is to read his name over and over again in relation to John but he doesn't! Instead they tell what John, his music, The Beatles meant to them. Only a few mention him from time to time but they are really few and I hope it stays that way. and gets even less. And I hope that the one we will not name will shovel shit in hell for eternity when he finally pisses off this earth.
Without saying his name we cannot remember that his initials, in Roman numerals, total 1600, and then we cannot remember the connection between the White House and this assassination. That is no conspiracy theory - the evidence is everywhere.
Thank you for posting, you almost feel like you’re there with them. I always hope that the ending to this story changes somehow. John sounds so happy and at peace. When Elvis died I heard the announcement on this radio with two knobs on it in a leather binding. I was six yrs old. Three years later I heard that John was shot on that same radio. I was nine. My two favorite people of all time. I’ll never get over that John was murdered and I feel for those that knew him and loved him.

My two favourite people too! I thought I was the only one. I was 9 when Elvis died and I was devastated. 12 when John died and I was numb, it was so shocking I couldn't feel anything.
I was in the bathtub when my mom knocked on the door to tell me what just came on the tv as breaking news….I was 18 and just devastated….Ive never recovered and im 60 now……never moved passed it and that isn’t healthy mentally….their is something off with me to have such an emotional connection with a person ive never even met or actually knew. Music is really a powerful thing and the lyrics of the beatles older songs connected to what I felt….but alot of those songs probably didnt have some deep meaning…..?

This is so poignant. In a few hours, this man who is speaking with such hope about humanity, would be bleeding out on the steps outside his home. Murdered by the most insignificant human being imaginable. Such greatness snuffed out by the personification of banality for no reason whatsoever. The sheer waste of it all is overwhelming even now, over 40 yrs later. His murder is one of those events in history where everybody knows where they were when they first heard the news. Events like 9/11, the death of Princess Diana etc. Such a loss to the world

I was born on John's Birthday (and Sean's too), Oct. 9, (next week) and have always felt somewhat of a "kindred spirit" and love his art, poetry, literature, wittiness, etc... He was not a 'Perfect Person' but he was an 'Amazing Artist' and John & Yoko's incredible song, "Imagine" is my #1 favorite ever..!! I think they were so blessed to have their love together, it makes me so sad he was killed. Like millions of people, I remember exactly where I was, every detail, and I'm crying again, as I do every time I remember.... And feel so badly for Dear Yoko... and both Julian & Sean. And As I watch another war on TV, I remember those eloquent words "GIVE PEACE A CHANCE"... and I Just Imagine a World Where People Live In Peace... I Love You John & Yoko, Thank You.
I just stumbled on this and enjoyed so much. How honest they were! I played that album over and over and thought it was a masterpiece, intimate yet universal. I sometimes wonder what our world would be like if John had stayed. Two is One.

I was 18 and watching Monday Night Football when Howard Cosell announced
" Ex Beatle John Lennon has been shot outside the Dakota in NYC where he lives" My dad and I were both in shock. A few minutes later Cosell announced " It's been confirmed John Lennon is dead at the age of 40". My dad and I were initially in disbelief". That was 42 years ago. I was 18 and am 60 now. Within a few days we heard about Mark David Chapman. 42 years yet I can still remember it so vividly. John Lennon RIP. You'll never be forgotten!

I was watching Monday night football as well...I had just turned 15 , & was home alone. I absolutely could not believe it. I cried for hours, listening to his music on the radio untill I finally fell asleep. Bowie is the only other star I felt that for, but at least he lived to be 69 and knew he was going to go. That was comforting to know...

How very surreal...the first question asked of John, "What is a typical day for John Lennon?" Only to answer, explaining his "typical" day routine, not knowing, he would never have another day like it. So very surreal. Cut down waaaaaay too early in life. So sad to think about John only living to the age of 40. Like Pink Floyd wrote about..."Wish You Were Here."
At 1:36:03 when he says "and my work won't be finished until I'm dead and buried and I hope that's a long long time" and the monster there to take his life is standing outside the building, waiting for him with a gun at that very second. 😞
He probably signed that autograph for the sicko right after this interview. That stopped him from shooting John right then.
I think sometimes, if John hadn't signed the album, the guy might have tried right then and there were more people around to possibly limit the damage.

But re your comment (in description) that Paul & Ringo say the same things all the time. In fact both (esp. Paul) have offered a huge amount of insight over the decades in wide-ranging interviews. But, however much they give, it's never enough. As John himself said: "Everyone wants a piece of you". Being the most popular band of all time they were, and still are, expected to give so much of themselves to us, the public and press, yet still somehow lead a 'normal' life. I don't blame Paul for being guarded and telling the same anecdotes if that's his way of protecting himself. Considering what happened to John - who mistakenly thought he was free to walk the streets like a normal person and just sign autographs - it's incredible that Paul is still so open to the public and, at 80 still performing. He doesn't owe us anything more than what he's already given.

And, unlike John who was incredibly honest and soul bearing, often just blurting out whatever was on his incredible mind at the time, Paul has always been very guarded and diplomatic. John wrote about his personal joy & pain, Paul tends to write stories about characters.

Miss him every day. Grew up listening to him and the Beatles since I was a young boy. Felt like his genius of music was something that always gave me joy, still does. Only forty was too young even tor a rock star, more like a legend though.
Yes, when you think about it, even though he was forty the signs of middle-age were still absent… he was still thin, quick thinking and full of energy. ❤

At the time in December 8th 1980 I was only 7 years old I didn't know who John Lennon was I didn't really know who The Beatles were .We did listen to The Beatles but didn't really know who they are or John Lennon was or when he died I didn't really realize but now as a 49 almost 50 yr old I know who John Lennon is and I know the Beatles rest in peace John Lennon 💕
I was 7 too and remember doing a class project on this in 2nd grade. We also had a moment of silence.
Today obviously, this hits very differently.
I'll never forget reading in johns playboy interview where he said his biggest fear is that someday a looney with a gun will appear and god knows what will happen. He added that Americans are so in love with their guns that they walk around with them like its an extension of their arm. His exact words. Look it up.

My late husband and I visited NYC in 2012, and were walking around in the 'Strawberry Fields' memorial in Central Park. I was a massive fan of the Beatles when they came to America in 1964, so it was like a dream come true. I remember looking up through the trees, seeing a strange-looking building looming over the park. I didn't even realize at the time that it was The Dakota. We walked out and down the sidewalk in front of the spot where John was murdered. It's still hard today to understand why anyone could do something so hideous.😪I hope to see you in heaven John.
