The concert was in Mexico I think.... but they are a spanish group. They are so good.
One of my favourite Spanish bands... celts also were in Spain, thats why there are celtic elements in it
BTW love you reactions
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch this very long piece, definitely my favorite of the band but not the only good one. In advance, sorry for all my compatriots who will come in sometimes a bit abruptly to say that the band is Spanish; the live performance was in Mexico though. Mago de Oz are a band that combines a lot of different types of folk, Celtic and rock music. I myself have discovered singers and bands thanks to your analysis of their music that I would never have heard if it wasn't for it, so thank you very much for bringing the magic of music, of a lot of music, closer to all of us.
Bien dicho amigo!!
the pipes are gallician pipes in RE (gaita grilleira) usually galician bagpipes are in DO and SIb.
But the ones in the performance are galicians living in México
Spanish band
Spain is in Europe by the way
The song tells us a story about a girl called azzak that was going to be fired in a campfire for saying dumbass things about gaia and that God doesn't existis, in the whole álbum we see her story but here is her death. The firts part represent the context, the second talks about the thoughts of Azzak before dying and the voice before the chorus is the inquisitor. The third is when she's dying and wants to cry, but she dont cry becouse she needs to be strong, but the woman voice (gaia) says that she can cry if she want, and then whit the bag pipes she died, the final chorus is her spirit saying that one day the church will die,
Finally we have a little reflexión about God part in the life and why he ins't here
The story continues in Atlantia and haves a precuel called Gaia, this three albus are awesome
Thanks for reading
Spanish pipers with galician pipes. In Spain there are several types of pipes, in Galicia, Asturias, Aragón, Cataluña, Baleares….
I love this song and this music band with all my soul.
Thanks for your reaction video and greetings from Spain.
I'm always baffled by how popular Mago de Oz is in Spanish-speaking countries, especially considering that folk metal isn't a very popular genre in general. They have UA-cam videos with more than 100M views. But Mago is otherwise a niche band everywhere else, unknown by most metalheads from other places.
Their music themes are very anti-religious, and there's an embrace of pagan lore. In LatAm countries, where the majority is hyper religious and ingrained in our entire culture, stuff like this is like finally getting to drink a glass of water after days out in the dessert dehydrated. We would be ostracized by everyone if we attempted that, so it's nice to have representation of that in music. It's a mix of different metal genres mixed in with Celtic sounds, it's definitely casting a wide net. The stories also hit on points of embracing oneself, mother nature, Gaia, climate change, all that. Which is the norm for metalhead bands, so while it's got a few original points, it also fits within many of the cliches of metal that we all know and love. But that's conveyed lyrically. Stuff like Fiesta Pagana sound nice, but if you don't know the words it's just an okay song. There's a reason we love to go wild to this song at parties, and it sounds nice but the message amps you up, and it's fun to dance to. Magi De Oz albums usually all are a fantastic story being told through them thematically and I think many of us really fuck with that. Not knowing Spanish people are missing out on a very big part of the draw, which makes it understandable why it's so niche outside of Spanish speaking areas. The UK, America, Australia all have their own metal scenes with bands that go super hard, that do similar things as Mago but in their own language.
And for some reason as a Mexican we don't really have big superstar metal bands. We have Vitrivius, Agora, among others. From other countries we have stuff like Rata Blanca, etc. But none of them have really gotten so gigantic that the rest of the hispanosphere of influence knows all about their music. So we go "Spanish Metal? Hell yeah, you heard of Mago De Oz? Si wey!" It's just one of those things where when a band blows up it really does blow up internationally across the market. Even if the genre itself stays niche as hell.
Wow.
This is a Spanish band, they had different singers, mainly spanish, but the very first one was bolivian, José Andrea and the bolivian flutes are something you can find on the first albums and concerts. This is definetely one of their mastepieces, represents in that concert the transition between José to Zeta, the girl is Patricia, and that was the start to their top. I would recommend you to check on Illusia and Ira Dei albums too. This is a band you should check quite more deeply to get a propper opinion, so the song was made for José originally, Zeta, Txus (another singer they had) and Patricia gave a different sound (so their voices are very different), keeping the vibe. Right now, Rafa Blas is the main singer. And the pipers are Galician/Asturian, it's a very typical sound from that region of Spain. The main point of this band is how they mix harmonies, with all the variety of spanish and international music styles and poetry in the lyrics. For me, this is a must music band, and sorry, if someone doesn't apreciate what they do, this person needs therapy.
I would like you to react to a song by Diana Navarro " El perdón " She is a very versatile Spanish singer. She sings different musical styles. She has a melismas and a capacity to sing with very long notes. She always transmits with her face and gestures. Best regards
Mägo de Oz is very political and I love them for that. You can feel the passion and I'm glad you had the lyrics while you were reacting.
Their music might sound cheerful, but the lyrics talk about power, religion, money and the struggle for the world to become a better place. Also, the "prayer" at the end is more a complaint than a petition, because a fair god would do things differently. That's why it is so brave and powerful, and that's also why many of us know it word by word.
Anyway, many thanks for this reaction. Since this song is quite long, not many reactors consider it.
Hi from Mexico City.
Pipes from northwest Spain
The musicianship at 21:00 is pretty damn good, almost Helloween level of proficiency
That's amazing - I love this❣
You should totally traslate the lyrics, its quite important for the context of the song
Thank you for reacting to this great song! I didn't image an English native coach would, but I love it
Spanish group... pipes from Galicia... northwest celtic region in Spain.
Man I really wish you could understand every single word in this song, and the story they're telling. It's really beautiful.... and dark.
Its.about when cristianity came to Spain, I guess with the Roman Empire and Spain became.part.of Rome,.Hispania, and all the paganism was.suppossed to be eliminated, the celtics rituals, etc. Something like that. Greetings from Panama, Latinamerica.

This tells a history of an indigenous girl who is about to be burned alive by the inquisition.there are 3 characters.the first guy sings the part of the girl, second guy the part of the priest and the girl sings the part os the goddess (Gaia).
you should listen to some of their songs with the old singer, that man had a range and a voice... now they need 2 or 3 singers to make what he was capable, but they are still killing it, their music is really loved here in spain.
THE PIPERS ARE GALICIA -SPAIN
Son increíbles.
They have already told you that this band is Spanish, not Mexican. If you liked it, it reacts to the song "Astaroth" by the same band performed by Jose Andrea, he has a huge and imposing voice (singer before the current one)
I miss José. I got the chance to get to see him live during the goodbye tour and it's insane how good he was at his peak.
Hi Ken, I've been following your channel for a couple of years and I love your reactions. I would like to tell you that you should make a reaction video of the previous vocalist of this band, his voice is even more powerful and his songs impeccable. Regards.
man. Bagpipes are asian. Were introduced in europe by the romans. Romans were much earlier in spain than in the british islands, it is funny how people think bag pipers are some irish/scottish thing when the people of northen spain knew the instrument probably for centuries before it was introduced in the islands...The celts of the british islands emigrated from north spain mostly.. there are even references in that irish book that records the celtic tales...

They are a band from Spain. Half of the Iberian Peninsula were populated by Celtic tribes before Roman Conquest.
North West Spain, mainly Galicia and Asturias have strong Celtic roots and their folk music is strongly linked to Ireland and Scotland.
Those pipers are mexicans but their family origins are from Galicia

oh man I so wish you react to the original signer and the earlier, some would say the best era, "finisterra and gaia" albums.
Eso es Mago de Oz.
The last phrase is wrong, it doesn´t say "Why have we forgotten" is "why have you forgotten us?".
Same with "Why have we abandoned you", actually it says "why have you abandoned us?" making a reference to last words of Jesus before dying.
this version is really good, but the best is with the original vocalis Jose Andrea; his voice is really powerfull and the feeling is in the next level.
live song I recommend is barakaldo concert in mexico city (:
They are Spanish. The Spanish history is great and rich, the Spanish origins are Celtiberian before Rome. And as Celts they loved the mother earth and as the Celtic brothers of Ireland, Scotland and Brittany we also have bagpipes.

@SeranPC if I heard it right, the song is about the last hours of an Aztec woman?
@@wtglb you are right. thats what the song is about.
aztecs worshipped about 15 gods but I think since Gaia represents "mother nature" the meaning stands
