On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I don't know how many times I damaged my own MiG-29 (even losing both wings) in DCS by forgeting that I was ~Mach 2 and trying a tight high-g turn.
Aside from the reversals, some great flying from that F-14!

A lot of people underestimate the maneuverability of the tomcat, it may seem big and sluggish but if you know how to play it you can throw it around in ways that will surprise you

It's really great to watch dogfights with the other guy being so skilled as well, somehow it's just really clear that these two are almost even in skill level with the edge going to GS just because he's up to date with practice.

All of the Flanker Variants are just such sexy aircraft.. the Prototype Terminator and other variants with canards really get me going :D

Hey GS. Just curious. Can other jets utilize the flaps in the same manner and be somewhat effective?
From what I know only the Jets with manual flaps use them like that so most modern ones like f-16 15 18 Amit 29 Su27 have automatic flaps
They mostly don’t have the wingspan (extended) and lift-generating body of the tomcat.
No one can beat the sense of humor of GS in DCS Community.
The return of Sunde is much welcomed around here. Would love to see you and him have a good old fashioned Hornet fight.

Happy New Year GS...Enjoy your vids and pray I'm able to set up what I have and begin enjoying this sim...(also will need to research how to use either OBS or NVIDIA SHADOWPLAY or whatever recording and editing program I can...not for publishing or posting but for my own personal collection... Anycase, Appreciate your dedication and hard work...and like I posted last week...although Ive been a pilot for 30yrs (GA but with several certifications and checked to fly...or was prior to a heart attack) ... really helped and helps when you explain some of the nuances with radars...RWR...different sounds, etc...all is helpful and pointing these things out in "real-time" scenarios is much more helpful than someone hastily scanning from left to right informing what things are...unless see them in action when creators attempt & intend to help with such tutorials...at least for me...aren't that helpful...I'm referring to RADARS, MISSILES, ID'ing, COMMS, etc...

I have recently gotten the Su-33 and I don't even turn off the FCS for a cobra, I just use it to be able to pull more in a dogfight

Dogfight between F16 and Mig-29. Both jets have very good thrust to weight ratio. It will be interesting to see how they perform in one circle and rate fight against each other.

Why do the F-14s flaps get jammed when they put them down in the two-circle?
The machinery literally gets stuck. Greater flap extension wasn't designed for maneuvering at speed, and although the flaps can withstand it, it'll need maintenance once it's back on wheels. Like over-G'ing your plane, yes it'll almost certainly exceed the limit in the manual, but you're going to break things in the process.
Even if the cobra isn't useful most of the time, it's still beautiful to see and do

Hey! This is a question that all of us are probably asking why you aren't a fighter pilot, I mean you know so much more than me you know which buttons are which you know a lot of terms you even know what most of these aircraft's suitable zones so uh yeah, I think you should become a fighter pilot.
The Su-27 and it successors are probably my favorite aircraft series(behind the Tomcat and Fighting Falcon)-except the canard variants.
the F14 is a tough airframe....I was doing some single player practicing bvr on the syria map and ended up in a dogfight with a mig29 dove in on him (came in too hot M1.2!!) to get behind but blacked out at the last moment! Didn't crash but when screen came back up I was about 100' off the deck with a missile about too bite me....checked tacview and pulled 13.9G in the pullout from the dive....ooops (Jester stayed onboard......cause he was still blacked out!!)
Kinda wanted to see the last one from the f14’s perspective, lol

What makes doing a ‘cobra’ different in a Flanker than just yanking back on the stick and cutting the throttle on any other aircraft?

How about trying giving us a example of a Immelmann used effectively in a WW2 Bird
The Cobra is a flight maneuver, and like any flight maneuver they have a time and place, Dogfighting is very circumstantial, why it’s often referred to as ‘Aircraft Martial Arts’.
I guess an immelmann-maneuver performed as original intended would be just a half-loop in anything then a Fokker E3. A hammerhead or stall turn would put you at a huge disadvantage in a ww2 bird. You are practically standing still in the air.

I still think the coolest Cobra was the one you did in the F-22 against the Chinese J-20. First, it was the angle of bank you were in before you went into it, and second, I mean come on! It's F-22 were talking about.
