The orchestra is always the best part of the game awards. Hearing all the themes of the nominated games is truly a pleasure and something that can't be recreated anywhere else. The Metriod theme especially sounded powerful.

This year was truly a revival for the Metroid franchise. Listening to its theme among the GOTY nominees made me tear up a bit.

It would have been a well deserved GOTY however "It Takes Two" was a deserved winner in my opinion. :)
Listening to the Metroid theme felt like the franchise was showing how powerful it can be and what heights it can reach.
Hopefully Nintendo realizes their sleeping on a fantastic IP and put their hands on bringing Metroid Prime Trilogy to Switch and show us a little more for MP4

@@metroidmckay It is actually "Theme of Super Metroid". Theme of Samus Aran is a different song in Super Metroid but since it has never been reused/remixed and the recent games, along with Smash Bros use the Super Metroid theme as Samus' theme, it is referred to as Samus' theme.

Psychonauts 2 deserved its nomination, a little bummed it didn't win but I'm just glad they presented such an outstanding game
Same here but with Ratchet, so sad a franchise not much people know was left like that.

It’s no surprise that Metroid’s music took the cake, Nintendo consistently deliver with their soundtracks, spanning multiple genres and exploring different themes.
Metroid: Dread wasn’t even nominated for best soundtrack, no Nintendo game was.

The orchestra gets better and better every year. This medley is one of my personal favorites too.

glad It Takes Two won! It was cheesy, but that was part of what made it fun. We definitely need more cute co-op games like that 💕
They were so creative with the game mechanics. It never got stale or repetitive even though the premise stays the same the whole game and you pretty much know what the ending is gonna be from the start.

@@changsiah2 no they shouldn't, it takes two was the best designed game by a country mile. Village was an average turd thats 6 hours long. Metroid is great game but its nowhere near beating out somthing this special.

What were those 90's video game composers smoking. The Metroid Theme that has been around for 30 years sounds so different and unique compared to all the modern games in this compilation. Not saying they sound bad though. We need a return to form when it comes to video game soundtracks.

Sick of the comparisons to 2018s version. Yea it was great and it’s my favorite but all these other one from 2019-2021 have been great as well, appreciate them for what they are.
That being said Samus main theme & Deathloops theme orchestra versions were an epic way to close it. Loved this years orchestra can’t wait for 2022s.

Hell nah. That game is mandatory co-op. Some people prefer to enjoy at least their 1st play through, alone.

Metroid should have won, it really elevated the game design that really fit the modern switch play we have now especially for 2d.
At least Metroid Dread got the award of "Best Action and Adventure Game".

Not gonna lie, it hurts that Insomniac Games literally haven't won any awards in the three years their games were nominated.
The highlights for me was with Psychonauts 2 and Metroid Dread.
The guitarist was gorgeous
