It looked like Flute Guy had waited his whole life for that performance. The amount of effort and the extreme excitement he portrayed when finishing the piece was just amazing. Absolutely great work from him playing Weight of Life and obviously for the rest of the orchestra as well for their amazing playing.
My favorite part is at the end, actually, when they all stand up and you can just see him SCREAM with excitement.

For anyone confused flute guy is first spotted at 0:42 rocking out then at 2:29 and top right barley visible at 3:11 behind violin girl. He not only plays flute but changed to another instrument and rocked out, legend!!

This is something I’ve been trying to figure out for the last 15 minutes. He’s definitely playing a woodwind at first, but not a flute since those are played from the side. He switches to a bass flute, but I’m not sure what the other instruments are.
Imagine being so great at game directing that you create a whole new genre entirely. Miyazaki is a genius.

Xenoblade 3 didn’t win Best Soundtrack, but at least we got an amazing rendition of Weight of Life, that flute player (learned his name is Pedro Eustache) went so hard.
It should have won though, objectively. But it was inevitable seeing as these awards aren’t an objective evaluation but a popularity award.

There was a bit of me that really hoped Ragnarok would get it but only because of how much the story touched me but you can't deny the millions of people who who put their sweat and tears into Elden Ring and it could have gone either way for me but congratulations ❤️❤️

Even though Xenoblade Chronicles 3 did not get a Game Award, whoever that flute instrumentalist was. That person carried the orchestra. Congrats to all nominees. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 deserves an award in our books 💯

Xenoblade 3 getting nominated wasn't just great because the series is fantastic and its getting the recognition it deserves. It also meant we got to see the real hero of the orchestra, Flute Guy!
The "It Takes Two" director was right. If the GOTY Orchestra played your game song, it is basically a grand honor. It means you're one of the current top dogs in the gaming industry.

ER is an amalgamation of the open world RPG as inspired by western and eastern titles (ie: skyrim, witcher, BOTW, shadow of the colossus) and a culmination of Fromsoft itself seeing the aspects of dungeoncrawl from Demon Souls and Bloodborne for its seamless interior asspects in an open world scale. it has environmental story telling w/ visual language as its visual direction which correlate with world building and lore that offers dynamic writing for its players choice w/ interconnecting quest lines and exploration that rewards players curiosity, it's a game that delivers "players freedom" as it respects its genre.
Where did you pull BOTW in ER lmao, DS was done before that. ER was a bigger reskin of DS with added mechanics and more exploration

Sad that Xenoblade 3 didn't get Best Soundtrack Award, it would have deserved it so much. At least we got this awesome Weight of Life performance. Can't stop listening to that part, Pedro Eustache killed it.
Miyazaki is a legend. He deserves every award he gets and im so happy to see him winning. Not many people have truly made the kind of impact on gaming that Miyazaki has. Imagine having a formula, where every single game you made, people sink hundreds of hours into each title, vigorously waiting for the next one to be released, desperately trying to satiate the need to play souls-like games. Just amazing.

The Weight of Life being played for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is what we are just so happy to get even thought we felt robbed not winning "Best Music and Score".
Nonetheless the flute guy carried the medley. He is trying so hard like he was fighting a moebius.. A win for us Xenoblade fans.

I'm glad Elden Ring won - GoW is awesome though imo ER deserved it more since there's just way less money and devs sitting behind ER. The Dark Souls genre really deserved it!
