@@DJMtv1938 I don't disagree sadly. I fell out with my family over calling Stoke a shithole, it is the truth. I am proud of where I am from but when I live in a country they call 'third world', but it's way ahead in every way, they need to get out and see how bad it has become. There are probably over 1000 restaurants in a square mile surrounding me from streetfood to Michelin starred. 7 high tech shopping malls with all the big names and again huge food courts. Every weekend the local council puts on huge events from firework displays to international jet ski competitions. We have around 5000 bars and high end hotels with spectacular rooftops overlooking the ocean. I've seen this place rise massively in 20 years like a Las Vegas but at the same time seen my home town deteriorate. Apparently I live in a third world country.
@NDTViThailand absolutely mate the trouble here his most folks have become conditioned and don’t move out of stoke much they just say everywhere is the same and it’s absolutely not I can visit Nantwich and the place is lovely and nothing like a third world 💩🕳️like stoke and we are are only talking 17 miles up The road. Stoke is absolutely lost and i really can’t see any positive outcome anytime soon.😔I’ve posted my email for you as well mucka for when you over should you want meet up 👍
The sad thing is you don’t care about it until it happens to your town or area. Because my local high street has changed beyond recognition in the space of 5 years. But these videos on UA-cam are highlighting it. So it’s all good.
Watch and weep ! What they are doing to our once beautiful quaint little town is criminal. These crooks at the council want holding to account . I miss the heady days I remember from the 60s to the 90s
I was homeless in 2016 and i had no choice to get help from the rough sleepers team in stoke they got me a room in the hope Street hostel in Hanley i hated it but st least i was clean fed n watered but the service charge back then was very high and they also get a hefty amount of housing benefit, i use to speak to a few of the homeless amd said, why don't you get off the streets and get in the hostels but they refuse to psy the expensive service charge (or they prefer to sleep rough n buy drugs just my opinion) but i was in the hostel for 6 months then i got my own rented property and ive been here ever since,
I still think Newcastle looks better than Hanley, the precinct looks a little more pleasing to the eye despite the empty shops unfortunately. Even the Newcastle pigeons look a little more upper class than Stokes pigeons 😋
Still better than stoke , we only got a few shops in Campbell place and the indoor market ,most of the drains in stoke are blocked "first bus" will have to change their name to "first boat" but they've found £9, million to tart the railway station up, i saw the other day that cannock have had £9,million as well ??,that must be a shithole as well...
Send me your email for on here mate and I will be in touch privately I put the least amount of contact information on here has possible I’ve seen the emails you get 🤣🤣👍
Breaks my heart. I remember walking through these roads when my daughter was at Keel uni. It was lovely. Tea and oat cake rooms. Thank god she's in america now...another, WEF, shithole.
I think it’s safe to assume most Vape shops and ‘European Supermarket’ style shops actually make all their money from under the counter sales of counterfeit tobacco and cigarettes, others are fronts for worse. (This is at least the case in Crewe, I’ve been into several where all the stock on display is actually out of date as they just use it to keep up appearances knowing no one will buy it)
@@DJMtv1938 Personally I think it’s just the council would rather see a unit occupied than not and when towns are on the down turn these are the only sorts of businesses willing to take the risk. As for why they don’t get called for the way they operate, lack of complaints and money most likely.
Do you know I was going film down there but it was just to busy with students at the time Sainsbury’s carpark had a homeless camp on it but it had been cleared when I got around to take a look 👍
I have taken a mental note though about it 👍and I will be back down in Newcastle to film I will probably have to do it later when the students are not about has much
Stood on that roof at 14.40 red and white front 1971 or 2, used to be Tesco and watched the Queen and Prince Philip come past. Don't think we'll see Charles and Camila.

I can't bear it....every stinking time...phone Sid's for a taxi, Camilla, please. I can't bear it here any longer...!
Castle seems to be suffering especially for several reasons. I remember by 1990 or so it had become especially reliant on chain shops / banks / services to occupy the town centre. Now demand for such things has declined rapidly since the Amazon / smartphone revolution of the last 20 years, all those chains are pretty much gone as there's no demand for them in a place like Castle with its widely spread suburbs and easy link to the Junction 15-16 of M6 to take you to better places (isn't that WHY the A500 got built - so cars could go between J15-16 while seeing as little of Stoke and Castle as possible?). Sadly, there's no real reason for Castle town centre to exist any more. I think NatWest and Lloyds are the last banks in town now, so when they go (and they will) the council may as well level the place while they're doing Astley Walk.
Newcastle is more appealing than hanley shoppinplace wise not this disgusting rubbish dumped needles etc why don’t people just clean up there bloody mess
When town centres increase in charity shops, vape shops, nail salons and kebab houses you know the end is near.
I think we are not just teetering no more mate we are over the edge and the fall is painfully slow
