the only good thing about hanley is the Regent. There is a nice Cafe called Harleys like a 50s Theme, when i went last friday most people was having christmas dinner in the pub by the victoria snooker club there are more coffee shops than shops soon not safe anymore it feels like they do not want anyone to be ok anymore go to work when they get more money on benefits and they wonder why its going like this so sad decline of the City. If any one is on benifits can they tell us how much they actually get after what nonsense the channel 4 program said it is not that much ive watched programs when they have nothing in the fridge going to food banks.

You haven't been fair to my hometown. You went thro all the back allys and bad areas to get to hanley and you didnt even went towards shopping centre you went opposite way to just make my hometown look bad . As we say( siktir git )

Always good your videos mate. I went up Freeport Talke On Wednesday and struggled to park and you look at your video in Hanley. Just seems paying to park has killed Hanley never mind the loss of shops

I think Spoons is pretty much one of the only reasons anyone goes to a city centre now. For example, if you go to a place like Lancaster (a UNIVERSITY city) on a weekday, all the pubs are deserted. Except for the Spoons, which is always busy. Oddly, they sell drinks at £2 less than all the other pubs in Lancaster. Who'd'a thought it? I've been to many and despite Spoons rep, the only one I've ever seen a fight in is the Arnold Machin in Castle. There was an argument, then a punch up at the bar. Two of the guys ran past me, out the door and down the Ironmarket. The Reginald Mitchell and The Wheatsheaf have questionable reputations, but I've never heard of anything like that there.

Great to see you back. I lived in Cobridge through the 50s, 60s and early 70s and found your videos of the present state of our once grand city so sad. Like you I don't live there anymore and now residing in Hampshire. My father worked for the AA garage/store in Stoke and when they decided to move to the headquarters in Hampshire we as a family did too. Looking at the present state of where we used to live I'm glad we made the move. I still enjoy watching your videos though of where I spent a large proportion of my life so many thanks for your efforts in producing them.

👋from sunny Australia. Lived in Cobridge from late 80s to mid 90s. Used to walk everywhere, literally just over the road from Evergreens, down to Festival park, through the 1 pound house streets to the potteries centre, and back after a night on the pop. Never once had any dramas. Keep doing the videos mate.

Welcome back. You are a Stokie even if you've now moved out of the immediate area... I've missed your video's. There's other channels that do the same thing, but you never get too political like some of the other Stoke lads who do it. Hope this new video is the first of many more.

You'll find things changing quicker than you expect in your old home town when you go back after a while away. I left in 2007 and one time I went to Hanley after a few years and found half of Clough Street demolished for a new Tesco. Which was certainly a surprise as seen from the top deck of the number 34 bus. I thought "Well, one day, and probably quite soon, there won't be much left from my teenage years." Nothing I've seen subsequently has proved me wrong. Not been back to Hanley since 2017. It was depressing enough even then. I think there's still plenty of real time decline content in Stoke. Why should Flint, Michigan or Gary, Indiana have all the fun? 😆

I remember the days when in England everyone was English and spoke English.... Yes it was lovely times, safe and decent, people had decorum and manners. Now look at it.. England is a filthy shit hole of brown and black and they have brought all their 3rd world drugs with them. Goodbye England and thank you UK Government for allowing it !!

I think it was the right to buys fault anybody that could bought there property and most are let out now the rents for these are extremely expensive and there’s no council affordable housing you can’t work and afford the rents if you dont work nothing to do so then drink and drugs only my opinion what do you think ?

We need to ask ourselves the bigger question of where and why it all went wrong. This isn’t just a Stoke on Trent issue It’s nationwide. I can’t help but think it all started to go downhill when digitalisation came in. The internet and a largely cashless society has killed off small towns and cities. Stoke was never like this in the 90’s or early to mid 00’s. Well, certainly not that I can remember anyway. It’s all very sad.
