We need to ask ourselves the bigger question of where and why it all went wrong. This isn’t just a Stoke on Trent issue It’s nationwide. I can’t help but think it all started to go downhill when digitalisation came in. The internet and a largely cashless society has killed off small towns and cities. Stoke was never like this in the 90’s or early to mid 00’s. Well, certainly not that I can remember anyway. It’s all very sad.

The church is now owned by a company who intended to change it's worship to another religion,however it is protected by a caviat meaning it can never be used as a mosque,temple etc unfortunately the buyers presumably expected to bypass the law I'm not religious but God bless the Church

"ONCE" in the 1950/1960s Stoke-on-Trent was a good place to live in, then around the 1970-80 the influx of immigrants started, now we have the illegal immigrants coming bringing with them there dirty ways spiting, drugs ect. Now Look at Stoke-on-Trent its not fit to bring up your kids..... Stoke-on-Trent used to have the Best night life and Night Clubs in the country with all the big stars coming here to perform, now we've got almost a immigrants councillors now no one comes anymore but who wants to come to a shit hole !!!

I was born on red street in ches last year i was riding a pedal bike to work every day to castle down the a34 in one year I had my bike stolen from outside my place of work just across the market from cash converters . I had someone in a mask try to push me off while I was on my way home so he could steal my new bike . And the final straw was getting blocked by about 6 lads who decided to show me their knife collection in exchange for my new new bike . I have a driving license but buying and running a car was expensive but after 3 bikes and countless taxi and bus tickets it actually works out cheaper so I got a shitbox rover 25 for £400 and used that for about a week until it got broken into in the multistory car park behind the cinema and a replacement window cost me nearly as much as the car I have had to quit my job and get one in a slightly less crime ridden hellscape . It's failing so much because you can't regularly go there without getting mugged or attacked if you travel there everyday the possibility of somthing happening to you is so great that people just left and now everything is closing and it's more overrun with druggies and gangs

I live in stoke and born here, I've watched it turn into that squalor and it is a true honest dump and when I can afford to I'm gone.

I used to work in Stoke back in the 80s when it still had a pottery industry and was relatively thriving. I visit occasionally and have a walk round. The thing that hits me is the amount of litter. Walking up Limekiln Bank there is masses of it everywhere there are shrubs or trees. This encourages the feeling of neglect and a downward spiral. The council would be better tidying the place up to encourage a feeling of pride even though a poor district.

I moved up here just shy of ten years ago as this is were my partner comes from and oh my did I make the wrong decision glad we are looking to move back down south

Stoke on trent council have given up . But although its sad as some of these rough sleepers have mental health problems and had o chouce but tosleep on the streets . But others are just scum bag dust heads like the bloke who brushes the ròad by iceland . Most of it is choice and when it all goes wrong its someone elses fauĺt . Ive worked the streets for 17 years and some violent nasty vile people on the streets of hanley .

I used to knock about on the estate behind Windsors, century/ portland street, it was rough as fuck. The older lads kicked people's doors off for a laugh an if they dared to come out were beaten, drug dealers, druggies buying drugs then beaten by kids on the way out. Witnessed a lad beaten to death, people not from there just beaten and robbed.

So sad , worked in Hanley in early 90s , was a great place to go day and night , the loss of industry and the Macari Centre have ruined the place with the flats for addicts and MH , my mum and dad are too scared to go there now , so so sad !!

Brighter Futures is to blame for a good % of the drug problems blighting Stoke-on-Trent.

Hanley the jewel of Stoke on Trent, once a vibrant, bustling town, it used to be treat back in the day going up Hanley just spending the day with your mates, then there was the nightlife, people used to come from all over for a night out, go out now at night you'll need a stab vest and good pair of running shoes.
