It doesn't matter what's in the envelope. It clearly wasn't a matter that they couldn't talk through, the conversation surrounding the envelope is what affected their relationship more. Sometimes the keeping of a secret is what does the most damage. Maybe the whole point of the envelope was the conversation that came as a result of it's arrival, showing the couple the darkness in one another. Maybe all it was trying to show them is that secrets hurt most when they're secrets, as soon as it's common knowledge, the healing can begin.
Well, to start, I understand this comment is 4 years old, so I apologize right off the bat for replying to it... that being said... This comment makes the assumption that all secrets are bad and can hurt someone, which, imo, is complete and utter BS. Surprise parties are secrets, proposals are secrets (usually), mystery dates are secrets... There are PLENTY of good secrets. To say that "secrets hurt most when they are secrets" displays a naivete and immaturity on par with being a teenager. (if you are a teenager, then this is just something you'll have to learn). There are secrets RIGHT NOW that you do not know about the world and everyone around you, probably including the person/people you love, that are doing you absolutely no harm at all. You knowing those secrets would probably cause more problems than it would "healing" as you so eloquently put it. So yes, there are bad secrets, but they do no-one any harm at all by staying secrets. If you have wronged someone, and it can have an effect on them, they deserve to know, regardless of how it may harm or heal the situation at large. But if someone has a secret that does not harm anyone, that has not violated anyone else's boundaries, then that secret is and always should be, theirs. All that being said.... you said this 4 years ago, you have grown and matured since typing this, you may not even feel the same anymore, and maybe this is just a fun look into your past self and you will get a chuckle out of it. But if you do still feel this way, then you are more than likely not a very trusting person and should really seek to try and understand people. People have secrets, and they are none of your business no matter what their relation to you is; unless they directly and negatively affect you, then you deserve to know, but not otherwise. Try to learn to trust the people you love most, trust is far more important than whether there are secrets or not. Period.
TheSpidersprey Yes, this was four years ago. However, that was simply my interpretation of the video... I know there can be good secrets and harmless secrets, obviously, which is why I used the word “sometimes”. I’m not and wasn’t an idiot. It’s been a while since I saw the video/wrote the comment, but from what I can deduce, I was referring to secrets that effect the other person but aren’t as bad as the secret holder thinks. I don’t know, honestly, that’s what I got from context and I’m not going to watch the video again for the sake of this reply. Either way, this was a comment about a work of fiction. I was simply attempting to deduce the moral of the story in said work of fiction. That does not mean I *believe* a moral is 100% the truth or applicable to me in every movie or video I talk about. I just enjoy sharing the message(s) I get from a story, whether or not I believe in it. I happen to be quite a trusting person, so please, try not to judge strangers so quickly, because that was ridiculous. You’re reply reads as very condescending.
+JackHoward I've been following Dom since before The Lazer Collection and I genuinely believe he is the most overlooked talent on UA-cam. Do some more colabs with him please
I hope the envelope just said something like, "I hope you two learnt something new about one another." or "Did you let the unknown change you?". The best I could hope for though is just 'do u know the muffin man'
I love how the audience becomes invested in knowing what the envelope says. Part of me thinks what's in the envelope isn't really what effects their relationship, but more the way they reacted to the envelope itself.
Ahhh, super great cinematography as always Dom. A little too open-ended at the end for my tastes, but hey, that's art! Great job man. Looking forward to the next one!
Came back for a rewatch, and realized I never responded! You really knocked it out of the park man, thanks for being such a great piece to this awesome puzzle (:
good. very good. kept up with the anticipation without an over blown payoff, and the framing of each shot showed that the mood was not an afterthought.
The way you implemented the title into the gag at 0:21 was super creative. I like how you can't quite tell if this short is supposed to comedic or dramatic. You and your gf are great actors. There's some compliments for ya
I felt like watching this on my phone was a disgrace to a Dom Fera short. I was surprised and pleased of its lighter tone combined with its production quality. Good work as always.
You give me high expectations with your work. And this, now that I have finally got around to watching it, has far outdone them. Thank you for making this.
+Belios Rage Nothing was in the envelope. The fact that they fought over it like that and were on such different sides is the big change, and so the note is him saying he is leaving her and she is talking to her mother or some relative about the breakup saying she is fine with it. Isn't that right, +DominicFear
+Forodin the note wasn't the main character chris saying he's leaving. Why was it teared up? so what you are saying is that chris wrote a not saying he was leaving, ripped it up, taped it back together and left it there? no. What ever was doing this, fixed the content within the envelope and left it there. The last thing you said about her talking to a relative is fine with me though. It made perfect sense.
It doesn't matter what's in the envelope. The question is infinitely more interesting than the answer, and so, no matter what Dom wrote on that piece of paper, it wouldn't be as climactic as letting the question hang there.
i can definitely understand his fear. it is like when you see a cop and you suddenly worry that you were breaking the law even though to the best of your knowledge you werent. even if you are completely open and honest with the person and cant think of anything about you which would be so horrible as to tear yall apart there is the fear that you are forgetting something. perhaps there is some big thing in your past you never told the person because you didnt think to. perhaps that thing is big enough to tear you apart. perhaps the fact you forgot to tell them something so huge is itself the problem that will ruin the relationship. of course he handled it stupidly, hiding it more just makes it worse even if it wasnt hidden nor a secret in the beginning. but she also handled it badly assuming that his fear stemmed from something he consciously was hiding as opposed to being the fear of something being revealed which he had forgotten was even a thing. good video, definitely gives much to think on. very much curious what was in the envelope though i know the contents wasnt really the point of the video
+Seph Sheren I dunno, I think Dom's character pieced it back together after she left to go shower, lightly indicated by the way he glanced at it. Also, when she came back and looked at it, her manner was slow and slightly anxious, like she was looking at it for the first time. Hard to say :/
+Seph Sheren She didn't open it, Chris tapped the pieces together and left it on the table. That's why she went in the kitchen from the shower and saw the letter on the table. Chris went to work. Also, it would make sense that it was a allegory of Adam and Eve if there had been a God-Like person who warned them not to open it.
This is right up there with Lewis Black's : "If it wasn't for my horse i wouldn't have spent the year in college". I'm gonna die from an aneurysm now. I just know it.
dammit Dominic! not again. once again phenomenal work once again, reminds me of pulp fiction with not knowing whats in the briefcase. excited to see your next project!!!
Chris ripping up the envelope instead of the two of them dealing with this momentous situation together could be enough to change their relationship forever. I have to wonder if the secret was about Chris not being able to do that, as she just witnessed.
I should've know you were going to pull this! Well done! You got me. I'm now palpably frustrated over the contents of a blank envelope that never even existed (though it may serve as some sort of metaphor for the trials and tribulations people go through in relations, I can't really say because I have such little experience with such things).
I just realized that Dom's character didn't put it back together, it was the magocal forces that did so she could see it. So he still has no idea what's in the envelope and she's going to keep it secret now.
I think part of the beauty of the film is NOT knowing what was in the envelope. Also that the ending was indefinite, like, you don't know EXACTLY what happened between them. It's art. 10/10 IGN
Oh no you didn't. :P Well, it's for example an item that has no importance itself but gets the plot going. Like the suitcase in pulp fiction. Or this envelope.
That's fucking dirty Dom. I don't like that you did that to us, it hurts.
It doesn't matter what's in the envelope. It clearly wasn't a matter that they couldn't talk through, the conversation surrounding the envelope is what affected their relationship more. @@pazz I apologize.
This is really, really great!
+JackHoward I've been following Dom since before The Lazer Collection and I genuinely believe he is the most overlooked talent on UA-cam. Do some more colabs with him please
You're both incredible filmmakers who deserve a lot more recognition :)
Oh hey jack!!
I'm gonna spend the rest of my life thinking about this now
thanks
I'm going out on a limb here and guessing it said "butts" over and over. Do I win? What do I win?
Sammy Paul you win!!!!!! Congratulations😂😂😂😂
It was an embarrassing picture of Dom at the Christmas party
+Joe Ippolito MERRY CHRISTMAS DOM HAHAHAH
I hope the envelope just said something like, "I hope you two learnt something new about one another." or "Did you let the unknown change you?". The best I could hope for though is just 'do u know the muffin man'

Oh my god this was wonderful
Hey Dodie!! :D Do you know what was inside???
Ahhh, super great cinematography as always Dom. A little too open-ended at the end for my tastes, but hey, that's art! Great job man. Looking forward to the next one!
Hi! I made the ole cinematography on this one and wanted to thank you for the kind words!
Came back for a rewatch, and realized I never responded! You really knocked it out of the park man, thanks for being such a great piece to this awesome puzzle (:
NOOOO, DOM, WHAT DID IT SAY?!
Also, you are a really talented filmmaker
AND WHAT DID IT SAAAY?!
Man, it is amazing how consistently amazing your films are. It's like this perfect curvature of improvement over time.
good. very good. kept up with the anticipation without an over blown payoff, and the framing of each shot showed that the mood was not an afterthought.
I watched them film this over a live stream. Cool experience watching this knowing they were answering my questions in between takes.
Yeah that was great!
I knew you weren't gonna tell us.
It's clearly a letter to Hogwarts.
(Amazing video Dom)
The way you implemented the title into the gag at 0:21 was super creative.
I like how you can't quite tell if this short is supposed to comedic or dramatic.
You and your gf are great actors.
There's some compliments for ya
YOU KNOW WHAT DOM? YOU KNOW WHAT.
I'm not angry. Just Disappointed.
BUT ALSO VERY ANGRY.
*Cries from Frustration*
I felt like watching this on my phone was a disgrace to a Dom Fera short. I was surprised and pleased of its lighter tone combined with its production quality. Good work as always.
Yeah, Dom and crew blew it out of the water again.
The envelope was a test of their relationship. The supernatural shit... I'll get back to you on that.
+CrazyDelcyTV I like how they're just like "Ehh whatever, we had forks and shit flying around, but who cares."
Well this is a breath of fresh air. Excellent stuff.
You give me high expectations with your work. And this, now that I have finally got around to watching it, has far outdone them. Thank you for making this.
Excellent comedy and drama blend, I love it!
As the video ended i immediately yelled, "WHAT DID IT SAY!?"
Will you tell me what's in the envelope if i support you on patreon?
+Belios Rage
Sure.
*_WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOX?!_*
DominicFear Then it is sealed >8)
...as soon as i get my patreon account.
+Belios Rage Nothing was in the envelope. I'm always amazed by the quality of your work Dom. I especially enjoyed how well the music synced in this one. Keep up the great work!
Brilliant, Dom. Literally everything about this was superb. Very well done.
I remember Dom crashing into the pots on stream on accident! I can't believe you guys put it in the final cut that great
It doesn't matter what's in the envelope. The question is infinitely more interesting than the answer, and so, no matter what Dom wrote on that piece of paper, it wouldn't be as climactic as letting the question hang there.
This is great! Thanks for live streaming this filming for us!
Fuck this was great. The fork missing the switch cracked me up so hard. Genius writing as always dom
This is the most realistic skit I've ever seen. Well done, sir.
i can definitely understand his fear. it is like when you see a cop and you suddenly worry that you were breaking the law even though to the best of your knowledge you werent. even if you are completely open and honest with the person and cant think of anything about you which would be so horrible as to tear yall apart there is the fear that you are forgetting something. perhaps there is some big thing in your past you never told the person because you didnt think to. perhaps that thing is big enough to tear you apart. perhaps the fact you forgot to tell them something so huge is itself the problem that will ruin the relationship.

good video, definitely gives much to think on. very much curious what was in the envelope though i know the contents wasnt really the point of the video
a very creative take on "curiousity killed the cat"
Plot twist: it was Doctor Octagonapus
**OPENS ENVELOPE**
DR OCTAGONAPUS BLAARGH!!
+Chitturi Abhinav bu he han NO HANDS!
But... then, who was envelope?
THIS IS SO CUTE. I love y'all. keep the skits coming, please!!
+stanzione38 NO WAIT. I LEFT THIS REPLY BEFORE I SAW THE ENDINGGGG. TOO DARK, DOM, TOO DARK!
Your writing continues to make me jealous of your mind, genius!
oh my goodness, this was wonderful! well done. thank you for sharing it!!
Videos like this make me want to make short films, this was great!
The envelope did change everything. Nicely done!
Love it!
Great acting every time, I love your content.
You've done it again. Bucking brilliant.
Nice sketch!! And a really good way of making everyone go crazy about the contents! Hahaha
Fantastic as always. Could have been the most mundane and boring scene ever and you still managed to make it entertaining. Great work! =]
Is it Santa telling you that you're gonna get spider powers this year for Christmas
This short did a really smart way of storytelling, and I think I can put together the meaning behind it. Great work! this was really cool to see!
I loved the characters !
Great job man! I really loved the atmosphere of it all
amazing! I love it! Your work keeps getting better and better
Whoever did the visual effects really BLEWETT!!!
Nice video, sorry for the pun.
Great work!!!
A lot said. Loved it as always great job.
Wonderful pacing. Also funny and intelligent but you already knew that.
$5 says it was either "will you marry me", or a really good poop joke
I imagine what was in the Envelope has something to do with Chris being able to take risks for Jackie.
I love how the fork missed, and then the lights went off. Oh and the story was really fantastic too I guess...
inside the envelope was the script for the next lazer collection
That was awesome
This is grate, it hit me in the right spot.
Is this an allegory of Adam and Eve? The envelope being the tree of knowledge, and the letter being the forbidden fruit.
I like your guess. The problem is, they never opened it, and didn't 'partake'.
Maybe the envelope held distrust.
+Matt Sven It seems to me that it was implied that the girl opened the letter.
+Seph Sheren I dunno, I think Dom's character pieced it back together after she left to go shower, lightly indicated by the way he glanced at it. Also, when she came back and looked at it, her manner was slow and slightly anxious, like she was looking at it for the first time. Hard to say :/

Also, it would make sense that it was a allegory of Adam and Eve if there had been a God-Like person who warned them not to open it.
Well if my theory is false, then what do you guys think the meaning behind it is?
This is right up there with Lewis Black's : "If it wasn't for my horse i wouldn't have spent the year in college". I'm gonna die from an aneurysm now. I just know it.

I love your stuff man! Keep it up!

I'm now palpably frustrated over the contents of a blank envelope that never even existed (though it may serve as some sort of metaphor for the trials and tribulations people go through in relations, I can't really say because I have such little experience with such things).
Great like always, keep it up.
Dang it Dom!!! You left us hanging. SEQUEL! SEQUEL! SEQUEL!
Very nice iceberg storytelling
Ooooh shit that's what it is. That makes sense.
Watching the livestream for this was great.
I was there for that as well, really neat that it turned out like this
its not about the envelope or its content, its about their relationship - trust
I very much love this...that is all.
I just realized that Dom's character didn't put it back together, it was the magocal forces that did so she could see it. So he still has no idea what's in the envelope and she's going to keep it secret now.
I thought I understood it but when it finished I didn't
The note in the envelope said that Dom would rip it up and then regret it and put it back together.
THAT CINEMATOGRAPHY THOUGH.
DOM! WONDERFUL!
That was lovely.
loved it
The real question is, do you know what's in the envelope?
+Gox64 Yes.
+DominicFear JUST TELL US PLEASE!!!!! I can't live like this :(
P.S.: That was awesome :P
+DominicFear plz tell us
I'm trying to figure out the mystery. I've got an evidence board set up. I'll comment when I figure it out.
+Vigilante Panda well im commenting
So i can keep track
AHHHH I KNEW THIS IS HOW IT WAS GOING TO END. Awesome idea/story, I like it
The letter was a promotion for him to have a job somewhere else? So now it's a long distance relationship? That would change everything.
+DominicFear I love the music in your videos. It makes the videoes 10x better in my opinion.
I watched them make this, they have a good crew
ily dom
I think part of the beauty of the film is NOT knowing what was in the envelope. Also that the ending was indefinite, like, you don't know EXACTLY what happened between them. It's art. 10/10 IGN
I really enjoyed that journey.
First he gives us "The End" and now this, why all the mysteries Dom😭
The giveaway is her reaction at the end. She's not exactly mad or sad about it, but she's obviously not happy about it either. That's a huge hint.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX, DOM!?
Great work. Still want to know, but I guess the point is that it doesn't matter, it just matters what they did about it.
Awesome.
i hate it when we don't get to know what was in things like this. tell us you evil mastermind!!
Awesome, I'll never need to explain what a Macguffin is ever again! This is really well thought out, I like it. :)
+Leo B-Gun, What's a Macguffin?
Oh no you didn't. :P Well, it's for example an item that has no importance itself but gets the plot going. Like the suitcase in pulp fiction. Or this envelope.
Thats good work. And not just cuz its youtube. :) Very nice
Hey!
That's pretty good.
I thought it was going to say something about him being later for work and getting fired.
wow this made me sad
I can't live like this. I have to know what it said!
