      Thank goodness my country doesn't allow foreign ownership you need to be a citizen of the country however you can rent as a foreigner not buy a house outright or run a business you can however work for said business ( local ones) but not own it that's illegal.

    It’s crazy to think that people like this can be denied residency and yet many more are given a chance to come into our country as residents who have not and may never embrace our way of life. Some are even granted citizenship here and yet they resent our values and hate our culture. When will this make sense?

      The short vid report seems to clearly indicate 'health' worries on behalf of Immig Dept....beyond those other things like 10 years contrib to economy, tax, insurance etc...
      Is this the 'New Priority' standar? Will it be consistently applied therefore?

    I work in immigration, specifically residency, and this case and MANY like it has us all frustrated. The policies of the last government are utter shit and this is what we are trying to fight within the department itself. This man has absolutely shown integrity and his genuine intent. Ridiculous that out Technical Advisors cant get off their arses and change the policy.

    Whoever made this tragic decision will you please reconsider, this family has moved to these Islands as our great-great-grandparents did, invested in the land they farm, and more. These people deserve to stay.
    The what if argument stems from discrimination, or was it a psychic? if so, I'd get a second opinion.
    These short-sighted decisions are keeping great people away. It's no wonder many continue to use NZ as a stepping stone into Australia. Ask yourself why thousands of NZ citizens move to Aust and further. This hasn't been the country of "milk & honey" in decades, it's time to reinstate this long-lost fact.

    That's so disgusting. He should be a resident, if you've allowed him to stand in New Zealand for that long with this condition then he should be accepted as a resident and taken care of and have access to our medical care services.

      Yes, welfare beneficiaries are crippling NZ's economy and consuming billions of our taxpayer funds, but Immigration NZ's point of view is that if this man's kidney fails, then he'll become another beneficiary who is also consuming millions in healthcare. The amount of tax a minimum wage farm worker pays is significantly less than what he'd cost in healthcare and welfare payments, plus he's old so he'll be retiring soon, unlike a 30-year-old worker.

    As a 5th generation descendant of hardworking farmers, I am appalled at the way this Family is being treated. We can't get Kiwis to work our land; they're too busy hiding in worthless courses designed to trap them into toxic student debt; for non-productive futures. As for many of our immigrants; do we really Need 100,000, uber drivers, fast food cooks and sex workers? NO!!! But we Do Need more people that will contribute to our country; in the true sense of contribute, like Noland Kinney. Give this family the chance They Deserve!!!

      Why, so farmers can destroy the rest of our rivers. Nobody gains from farming, but farmers and government. Average person gets charged over price for 3rd grade meat.

      Agree. So funny about 'Noland' being the name. I think the origin is 'Ronald' but has been pronounced or misspelled in his birth certificate or that could be his nickname that became his legal name in NZ. Hope he and his family find the justice in the process.

    WOW! how sad for this family! I would rather have this family living in NZ contributing to the economy of farming in New Zealand than having those dirty bike riders invade public roads and intimidating the general public unnecessarily. Immigration laws have got it all wrong! It would be injustice to revoke this family's residential bid! God Bless 🙌 🙏 and hopefully, they are granted there residence forever visa! 🙏 ❤

    A friend of mine works with the refugees that are comming in (influx) & he said its very frustrating because they are so hell bent on doing nothing except getting on the benifit & into housing because they have been 'advised' by their family members who came before them..yet this guy can't get it- makes me sick 😒

      Yup NZ so the most recent refugees are the boat people that have been sitting in camps he said because of the length of time they've been in detention they are also messed up psychologically & the quota numbers were increased from the previous government

      @@dan448 This year we had an extra 125,000 people added to the population even though we have a chronic housing shortage, an overburdened health system and unemployment. All parties are on board with migrants bringing in up to two generations of relatives to, 'support' them. Who can you thank for this? Winston Peters, the guy that spent decades slamming migrants only to sign the UN Compact for Migration (open borders) on behalf of ex PM Ardern who then castrated him politically. Expect to see (paid for) supporters out in the streets with signs saying, 'Refugees Welcome' in the not too distant future. We are in for one hell of a ride.

      But "hardworking" is what all people that aren't disabled or unemployed are.
      There has always been a "you have to excell and show that you are needed" bit in the law.
      If there are others than can do the job then its more about what they bring to the community.
      Also ACC nonsense in our country would mean if he couldn't work he would ve deported anyways.
      So until we fix our system this is totally normal.
      As it stands you can be a hard worker.
      Have a crap doctor.
      Lose everything.
      And thats all your fault.
      We have no protections in NZ because ACC prevents us from holding medical malpractice to account.
      But some drunk falls over they get a new set of teetg for free.
      Get punched by some criminal aka the police and you gotta pay for it.
      Makes no sense.

    This man is a primary producer. That means his work produces wealth for the country. He is not just swapping his work for cash, he is producing new cash. That then flows on to the butcher the baker the candle stick maker and the TAX MAN. Also, he may, in the future, need a kidney transplant so they kick him out. By that reasoning all babies should be sent to jail, they may, in the future, become criminals.

    Well imo he’s been here long. I think that 10 years is more than enough time , he’s integrated into kiwi society and knows how it is here. I think the system is currently outdated and needs a fresh review . People who have been here for that long and from overseas will know how nz life is so wtf with not keeping them in the country ?

    The only thing Immigration made this decision on was because of his health issues. Absolutely ridiculous to refuse him and his family after 10 years of valid contribution to NZ! What is the difference between a NZer that’s been on a benefit for years that hasn’t worked needing the same treatment and this guy who has worked hard and paid taxes? If anyone deserves to be treated it’s this guy, but how do they even know he is going to need treatment? His health may be fine for many more years to come. Hoping some common decency and intelligence prevails that they can stay.

      On each visa extension you must send immigration your complete health work up done by a dedicated immigration doctor my wife was denied and sent back to the philippines for the same reason after 12yrs paying taxes I was born here and we have 2 kids that miss their mother terribly

I don't know if you realise that most of the people who eat up our healthcare system are the elderly and those that eat themselves to death to the point they become a dependent.     This man is an obvious asset to the nation, but then hard work is not a feature of many of those who have residency from birth in this country... As for the officials making the decision, this is typical of the incompetency at this level. Hopefully, the media exposure will support this man's case!

    I'm filipino and nz is one of the countries I'm "eyeing" for work since they're offering jobs because I believe it is a wonderful country that's been very careful with development and I've only heard good things about kiwis. Although I respect their decision and it's not for me to say what qualifies as an ideal citizen in nz this is just sad. I hope they find better life elsewhere.

      NZ is beautiful but life here is not easy. Cost of living is insanely high (we are from Europe) and I have been struggling to find work for the last 3 years, despite my background and eduction. Best to have a look at all suitable countries and weigh the good and bad. Australia might be a better choice, we probably won’t stay in NZ either. All the best!

      Truth is that no one wants immigrants, just the money they bring with them and their hard work. Kiwis are too lazy to work, look at the unemployment statistics and the proportion of households that are net contributors to the tax system. Anyone with any ambition goes to Australia unless family commitments tie them to NZ. This includes new immigrants. Once they have their citizenship, they are gone. Do yourself and your family a favour and aim for Australia.

    I'm a NZ born citizen and volunteer Veteran soldier from way back. My wife is a Filipina with NZ citizenship from years ago. This decision to deport this family is cruel and will cause them problems trying to integrate back into Philippines society especially if they have limited funds. Life for many Filipino's in the RP is extremely hard if they are poor and there is no Governmental support such as benefits like here in NZ. You are on your own there and poverty is rife. Filipino's/ Filipina's, make good NZ citizens and are hard workers. Robert.

      @@kungfutzu3779 I missed that, whether he owns the farm or just works there, non the less if he is the owner i expect its all on money owed to the bank, he hasn't been here that long? Anyway, it won't be easy for them if they have to go back. I know the Philippines very well having resided there for 7 years and i know the people well also. They are good people.

    I can see where INZ are coming from, but I still fall more in the camp that he should be able to stay. There are people earning much lower amounts than this guy that were given residency through the 2021 resident visa so it seems a bit unfair not to give him it.

    So I’m a Kiwi living abroad in America and around the world, so I have recently contracted sugar, diabetes type, two auto immune dysfunction and then I also got cancer last year which I got over
    So my questions would be if I wanted to move back home and live there because I don’t like the political system here anymore. Can they stop me from coming back since I still have a New Zealand passport and then also what about my wife she had a double mastectomy I think he has a right to live there after 10 years. This person has a right to be called New Zealand home
    I worked on a sheep station up in the New Zealand Picton sounds. I know how hard farmers work and their kids as well. He deserves the right to stay. All New Zealanders are immigrants, even if they are born there, they all still came from a different country except the Morias and even they arrived by canoe and came from Polynesia.

      The current policy rejects anyone who might become a potential burden on the health system. He might need a kidney transplant. We get that. But he has private health insurance. So why are they not taking that into consideration.

      @@Leo29568 Having private insurance does not help. Because as soon as he gets residency, he no longer has the incentive to keep paying premiums to the private insurance company.. Since he is working, and has a decent lifestyle, he needs a good prognosis from his NZ medical Dr/specialist. Then it may go into a probability debate, his chances are better from coming out of this after 2nd medical assessor's opinion.

    I tried to immigrate to NZ and bring my small manufacturing business there. I was rejected outright. And I agree I have no right whatsoever to try to persuade the good people of NZ to change policy to accept me in. NZ is a sovereign nation and we all must respect this. NZ owes us prospective immigrants nothing.

      @@greggiles7309 That would not be fair. I would not like it if foreigners kept trying again and again to gain entry to my country would not be fair if I did the same to gain entry to NZ. I was honest and straight up in my enquires and was rejected outright. Aus also rejected me outright did not even make it to the application stage they told me there is no pathway to citizenship for my kind. Fair enough at least they were honest with me from the outset. I will continue to operate my manufacturing business here in Canada.

      Oh yes one more thing by rejecting me I can still live in NZ or Aus for 6 months of the year just on a visitor visa no need for me to pay income taxes there. Go to Bali for 2 weeks then back in Aus or NZ for another 6 months, repeat. By rejecting me I still have all the advantages including no Aus/NZ taxes to pay, I can still buy a cottage or condo to live there. Really silly in my opinion for Aus + NZ to say no to my tax dollars but that is fine with me.

    Mr Kinney...It's not all about immigration...I'm Kiwi.....Dads side of the family has been in NZ since the 1690's...Mom's side since 1856.....I had a heart operation about 10 years ago, and was told by IRD "You had better not get sick again, cause we're not paying for any more heath care" .....They can't kick me out of the country...but that can and are putting me into an early grave...I'm forced by my doctor to 5 month appointments or I don't get my heart medication....but I have to pay for everything heath related other than those appointments and my meds...and no one in the government cares....actually I've been called a liar by everyone...even the media.....you are lucky you have some support.....I have none...

      My doctors tried to kill me off refuse to enter my ACC claims and say I have referrals that dont exist
      Even telling ACC I have to see a specialist.
      ACC say I failed to attend these imaginary appointments and refuse all my claims.
      My claims of failure to treat and treatment injury.
      Still failing to treat and now failing to treat me treatment injury.
      The amount of infections and pain they caused me would be at least 10 years in prison.
      But since ACC covers them
      And they prevent claimants claims for ACC there is no hope.
      They owe me a few million at this point and are just making grounds for 4 or 5 more claims

    Anyone addressing what factors have cause the kidney issue? I would say he look for answers himself to address the issue because theyre out there. The high sugar diet hes currently on isnt helping. Or the compounding medications he might be taking.

    The law is the law my wife was denied by immigration new zealand for the same reason she worked here longer than this guy paid taxes but her health didnt meet requirements we have 2 new zealand babies and she was sent home if he gets to stay cause he was on television and my wife had to leave I'd be furious law is the law pack your bags
