- ran a 150 meter drop start up at a pole and finishing inside a crawl space
had to install a standpipe at the pole and suck a twine through to get my drop in.
hope you enjoy ! thanks for watching!
The pride in your work impresses me. Having worked in the telecom industry (OSP manufacturing) for 30yrs+ and watching the decline in professional installation practices, you provide hope.
Thanks man much appreciated! I hope I can inspire techs to do better and not the minimum. Sorry for the late reply I didn’t see this.
Excellent video, I do enjoy it. Keep these coming.
Thanks! New video up now!
NIce! :) This is the same way I got pull string through the smurf tube I ran through my house. I thought I was being extra clever but now I know I didn't come up with anything novel.
Yeah haha I thought the same thing 😅
I didn't know they made Tunnel Boring Machines in compact form factors! I would have at least put a rough-in station for the future subway line!
yeah bit of an overkill haha
Do you ever have to use an H connector adapter at tap. Came across a squid tap and needed one for it but wasn’t sure why😂
Nope don’t even know what that is 😅
@@FyBurz well shii that makes two of us lol 😂
@@Jamesruiz81 😂
Is that not just Amphenol’s version of the Corning OptiTap?
@@laialbert amphenols ? You mean AFL?
Please don't go inside the snare. I get it. Ladder doesn't work outside. Use your ladder hooks on the strand. You rarely use them. Attach a rope to the drop. Have your helping hold the tension then cut the self support copper drop. You do amazing work. Above all self be safe.
Should have had your helper cut that copper from the customers premesis or had your ladder on the pole other than the strand when cutting that old drop my nuts went into my stomach watching that haha
Meh I’ve done it before. I had no where to go it was all good. Just a little scary 😅
I'm going to do my own 3000' aerial figure 8 (messenger cable) install on a rural driveway. It undergrounds in conduit for the last 150'. Is it acceptable to underground figure 8 cable in conduit? If not..what would the more acceptable way be?
To be honest I don’t see an issue with using figure 8 underground I could be wrong but there’s nothing inherently stopping you from using it

Is it just me or has the fiber network installation across Canada been horribly done, all the pole terminals are either a few inches away from the pole or a like mid span. I've seen it in Alberta, Manitoba, PEI and Ontario and it's the same shit.
you're not wrong, lots of sloppy OSP here
Ha great content , neal here from Ireland as a sub contractor would u get many jobs a day , looks like y do most of the work , do you ever complete as in fit gpon and modem for customers or is that the isp as there own techs do , we fit for national fibre and phone company , copper , fibre to the cab and home start to finish with modem
I do sometimes. It’s situational. Here’s a video where I do a full install. ua-cam.com/video/816VvDFoO6M/v-deo.html
@@FyBurz yes I see that one , but every job different , how are u paid by job or your day on day rate , we get codes , so oh span a code , ug span a code , modem , gpon tacking. , pole and ladder work all have a price code , how do u operate as a contractor
@@KINGDOM-BRICKS pretty much like that, rate sheet for different types of drops/lengths/area. all piece work.
@@FyBurz would ever consider using bucket trucks as a lot of your work seems to be pole work
@@KINGDOM-BRICKS I have buckets at my disposal, I cover a large area and it’s not efficient/cost effective to bring it everywhere. Plus my truck has everything I need on it and I’m faster off the ladder.
Long span! Surprised it didn’t need a strength member
Nah it was Gucci
Whats the furthest spans (drops) you'll do without having issues ?
@@chadpeterson4166 I’ve done 120m spans but only on private property with no other option. No one will pay to get support strand put up. Luckily there was good clearance.
If you were going to the house anyway, why not go right to that, rather than to the other building then through the conduit?
I’m confused. :/ the drop went from a pole to the house
I see you cut copper drops in some of your videos. Is that ok? This copper feeder looks fairly new (along with the drop?), so could that still be a potential analog customer for the local telco? "BC Tel" -- didn't realize you were in the Great White North :)
It is Telus not bc tel
Nope they were both out of service. I cut them them because they were old and not being use and never will be used again.
@jordantekelenburg I wish he was closer to the lower mainland. I really need some help from a telus tech lol. Telus says we have no conduit, but I traced a conduit path straight to the telus fiber hut.
@@balkaraulakh5131 just book it again. Get another agent, and tell them you’ve installed conduit to please come run the drop
Great work as usual . Who does the inside work install and who is the fiber provider ???
Usually the in-house tech or a sub technician. And I try to avoid saying it 😅
