Fallout really is something special once you get engrossed into the lore and world of each game, one of my favorite series of all time and I can’t wait to see you play through them all! If you decide not to play the first two because they are definitely older and dated I’d recommend at least doing a story reaction like you did for Witcher 1
Guarantee you’ll love this series. Each game is elder scrolls-level of huge, but with a much different atmosphere. As for which game to start out with that’s complicated. 4 is the tightest in terms of gameplay, New Vegas has the best story and 3 is the best introduction to the setting as a whole.
I agree with this assessment. I definitely recommend FO3 for a starting game, New Vegas for the story, and FO4 for gameplay. FO1 and 2 are considered the grandfathers but can be very difficult to play for those not used to isometric gameplay. I recommend it after you've at least played FO3.
@@KrimsonKrackerthe first game is the best for the world, but 3 is just the first game in a different font and without the feeling of solitude so it's a serviceable start, but the first will always be required playing for any fan

Fallout series is truly unique in it's setting, even though many others tried their hands on this "retro-futuristic" setting. So yeah, the story behind all this aesthetic is that during Cold War nuclear idustry grew much more stable and successfull than irl, which also shaped the american culture into nuclear pun-related way (like cereal brand is called Sugar Bombs with rockets as an emblem, or Nuca Cola, bottle of which is shaped like a rocket and etc.) and all tech is nuclear-powered. The Nuclear Bombs are also different than irl counterparts, so their primary objective was more radiation damage than actual fire and explosion damage. So no, when the bombs fell, it wasn't 1960s, it was 2077, and first game takes place 150+ years after that, with latest entries going for 200+ years after the drop. So this series always borderlines with seriousness of the possibility of nuclear war and a humour that some situations give, insanity that characters and moments give.
The “cartoon boy with the blonde hair” is Vault Boy. He’s the mascot for VaultTec, the company that built all the fallout shelters. You’ll be seeing a lot of him in game :)
Fallout 1 definitely feels different to modern fallout (arguably the world in it makes more sense), it's more bleak and desolate exactly how an apocalypse would feel 200 years after a nuclear war. It's definitely one of the hardest games to play, not to mention to get to run
@@AusSP so people got more stupid 200 years after a war? It was 200 years ago for us the Napoleonic war happened, but we don't have random skeletons of Napoleon's troops or random cannons laying around do we? My point is fallout 1's world seems more realistic and darker compared to fallout 3 which is more parody
@@the98themperoroftheholybri33 The reason we don't have random cannons lying around is because people were there and collected things and buried bodies. While all of the games should have more greenery overcoming the ruins of civilization and animals eating bodies, without people, the remains of human civilization would generally still be there. Things don't just vanish on their own. During the Napoleonic wars, soldiers and civilians would practically strip dead bodies naked to take their possessions. Anything that can be reused or carried would vanish quickly. Fallout's setting design is probably more based on the current state of Chernobyl. A lot of stuff is just... still there.
@@AusSP there are stores in fallout 3 and 4 with straight up skeletons laying around and piles of trash everywhere, not to mention settlements have no food production, in fallout 1 people are rebuilding essentially pre industrial farming communities such as Shady Sands. After 200 years things should've progressed more than what's shown
@@the98themperoroftheholybri33 There's a theory that Fallout 3 was supposed to be set way earlier than 200 years originally, but Bethesda decided to have it take place later after the fact. Would explain why your character eats 200-year-old Salisbury steak and can find loads of food/drugs in supermarkets in DC, where they would likely have been picked clean after 2 centuries. Would also explain why there's so many damn skeletons just chilling out in someone's shack or business. Skeletons also _do_ compose after a while but they're literally everywhere in Fallout 3 and 4.

Fallout is more of a critique about extremism in general than it is about just capitalism. American extremism just take Center Stage because it's set in the United states. There's plenty of lore about how china, the other superpower in the universe, completely fell apart as well.
also there are some misconceptions on post nuke radiation, while a nuclear war would 10o% erase most of the modern world, the radiation levels dissipate much faster than you would think more on the order of weeks or maybe months rather than years or longer.

Little lore info Fallout is based on an alternative future where atomic energy accomplished all the things they thought it would when first made like robots, flying cars and what not and the culture stayed very 50’s in look
Oooh I can't wait! I love the Fallout series and hope you do too. I think Fallout 3 is the best place to start with as a modern gamer. It was bascially a reboot of the franchise by Bethesda after the original creators, Black Isle, died out. I'm currently replaying my 18th time through FO4 with heavy mod use. Even now, almost half a decade later after release, it's still so much fun and I love it. I am finally going to finish Nuka World and Far Harbor since I didn't get a chance to the last few times. You can do so much with these games and they have a really avid and intense fanbase with very active users.
Waaay late, but it’s an alternate timeline that split from our’s around 1945-1950. The ascetic stayed the same from that time. The Transistor that we developed in our timeline wasn’t accepted popularly, which led to them having massive computers and machine components as apposed to our reality where everything is smaller and smaller. They also delved deeper into nuclear power than we have YET for fuel and many other things. They also continued with Petroleum like in our world. Alternate timeline. World ends in 2077. Fallout 3 takes place in 2277.
As much as I love mass effect, Fallout is my absolute favorite universe. Basically retro futurism, where society/culture is very much in the '50s vibe, but it's far more advanced. Fallout 1 & 2 are turn-based and more or less top-down, still impressive for games made in the '90s though. I'd recommend starting with Fallout 3 since it's the first first-person installment. Quite a world to step into!
My first Fallout game is the Fallout 4 First time playing it, i really love it, i like the story and the gameplay too👍🏼 I was playing Fallout 3 few days ago, kinda not like the gameplay but i think the story is good too🤔
Obsidian made Fallout New Vegas; the Lead Creative Designer on FNV, John Gonzalez, went on to be the Narrative Director at Guerilla for Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. I think that alone indicates that you'd really love that one! Bethesda made Fallout 3 and 4; if you've played the Elder Scrolls games, then you can anticipate the strengths and weaknesses story-wise there (very good at small, explorative, or emergent moments, weaker at main plot IMO). I love all three and the setting in general, and would love to see a playthrough of them! As others have mentioned though, it's definitely worth doing some light modding to address stability/bugs. I'm sure someone in your community could help you get set-up with a barebones mod setup that just addressed basic stability and unofficial bug patch kind of things. (Don't get me wrong, I love playing these with all sorts of mods and there's a LOT of them out there, but you'd probably prefer your first playthrough to be as close to vanilla as possible, I assume?)
Depending on your game preference. If you want straight up shooter, go Fallout 3 and New Vegas. If you like open world and sand box building, go 4. For sand box Plus Co-Op go 76. 4 IMO is the best with 76 being an enormous let down.
fallout is great, it's the type of game that gives you a lot of stuff to do outside of the main story. Even some random building or house in the middle of no where may have a story to it
I’ve played Fallout since the first one, although I didn’t have a PS2, so I never played the BoS one. Tactics isn’t considered to be canon, but I personally enjoyed it. I haven’t played 4 or 76, since my computer is old and I don’t have any next-gen consoles, so I can’t speak to them. 3 and NV are nice, and there’s even a mod to merge them into one game (with 3’s mechanics upgrades to NV). Each has some nice DLCs that add a lot of content, like going to the remains of Pittsburgh or being abducted by aliens in 3 or finding a lost research complex in NV
I always did wonder why they hard stuck with a 50's theme, until I was told that the idea was 'what if in the 50's, when everyone was trying to cobble together an idea for where to take humanity; they invested in nuclear science instead of computer technology?' The answer was pretty obvious; man crumbled under the weight of war, greed, and over consumption. Prices for things skyrocket before the devastation, and ultimately, man didn't get very far from where we started. Of the Fallout games, I think 4 is my favorite.
Fallout 1 and 2 are cult classics. One of the best RPG games ever made. From newer games only New Vegas have the same atmosphere and charm. F3 and F4 were good but also kinda disappointing. They pretty much were Elder Scrolls with guns.
"Do y'all remember these -trailers- intros?" Meg, Fallout 1 and 2 were the games of my teenage years. All the Half Lifes and Quakes or Warcraft 2's or Diablos of my high school years were nothing to Fallout 1 and 2.
Just have to say, this particular video you reacted to wasn't the best to watch, simply because it pitches up certain trailers in the video to maybe avoid copyright? I mean, you can tell especially in the very first Fallout trailer, Ron Perlman's usually gravelly voice sounded like a kid putting on a voice pitched up like that. And in the Fallout 4 trailer, everyone sounded like they were chipmunks breathing helium. I've seen other people who reacted to the same video not like the trailers or not take them seriously because of that too, and when they watched the originals, it felt a lot different because say, in the Fallout 4 trailer, it has a really deep music score that comes blasting in, and in this one, the theme sounded like a buzzy mess. Seriously, please watch the original F4 trailer instead of the one you saw in the compilation. That being said, you should totally play the games!!
It isn't just commentary on capitalism, but also on imperialism, blinded by ego and fanatical nationalism, as it sent an entire planet into a death spiral of nuclear annihilation. Your player character in every game is a person born into this harsh unforgiving world, and it is your choices that will shape the fate of the wasteland. Fantastic world building are what this series is best known for.
Fallout is so good, I'll be honest I've only played from 3 onward, but I feel you get enough lore to not really need to play 1 and 2, However, it's your call, but I'd be interested in seeing a playthrough including the first 2. Maybe if anything, you can do like the first witcher and watch a recap of the first 2. Fallout 4 is my favorite, I dont care what anyone says or the hate it gets.
The bomb didn’t drop in the fifties. More like the early 21st century. But it’s an alternate history where American culture and aesthetics seemed to have stopped in the fifties. Hence everything being “atomic” and retro
Please play these games. And their DLCs. The fallout series has amazing world building and atmosphere. It was one of the first games I ever played that had an open world and it blew my mind back in 2009 that games could be non-linear
Great choice though your inner completionist will find this to be a struggle as this is as diverse in quest offerings as skyrim only you are dealing with multiple games. One of the great features of fallout is that some of the areas are losely based on real locations. Each will have you visiting actual locations which have been hit so if you have been to some of these locations you may recognize some areas. There is also a lot of DLC content though I reccomend avoiding doing some of them since each acts as its own mini game seperate from the main story so some may deter your progress. You will meet plenty of amazing characters with some even being companions or love interests. Fallout 3 is a good start as you do not have enough experience with isometric gaming so it may not be your cup of tea. After that its off to the desert and the Old West reborn in the wonderful world of Fallout New Vegas. After that its finally time to hit the fallout equivalent of Dragonage Inquisition aka Fallout 4. That is where its best for you to end it after beating fallout 4. Fallout76 has none of the charm of its predecessors despite its lavish detail. My suggestion on this would be to wait on doing this until the start of the new year as you have still much on your plate and rushing from one game to the next without a decent ending is kind of disappointing as some people just love to see a happy ending. Best of luck and a little spoiler, there is a dog in every fallout game so you can always have a dog as a companion.
The Fallout games are amazing! The lore of the game is so immersive and interesting. Even the “bad” games like Fallout 4 and 76. I hope you give this series a try
If you're thinking of playing, 4 is probably the most accessible. Aside from some small references, there aren't things that require you to have played the previous games. The earlier games may require quite a bit of reading aloud(or viewers will have to read)

Fallout 3 and New Vegas 🔥... gonna sink a lot of days into those games but time well spent exploring/looting and talking to every crazy/cool NPC for bottlecaps and XP... play the game with the radio station in the background when you're not on youtube ..... 3-Dog & Mr. New Vegas are funny DJ's
Though I will say, 3 is a little complicated to get running on modern systems, but once you do, it's a blast.
thanks for the insight, The JewishGaymer
Not about capitalism
Oh yeah this game is something special the world, the lore, the characters it’s a great post apocalyptic adventure
Oh my god im so glad i found your channel with the AC trailers video. watching you play through Assassin's Creed, my favorite franchise, is just awesome, and now you watch this, from my second favorite franchise? Oh man im loving it
Also did you watch a pitched up video or was that just for the reupload to youtube?
I guess I watched a pitched up video because I didn't mess with it! It didn't even work because I got three copyright claims 🤣
Fallout 3 and new vegas are perfection! Excited to watch this!
Holy moly I hope you play these games I just got so excited
you thought the game called fallout was a fantasy
My first Fallout game is the Fallout 4
First time playing it, i really love it, i like the story and the gameplay too👍🏼
I was playing Fallout 3 few days ago, kinda not like the gameplay but i think the story is good too🤔
Obsidian made Fallout New Vegas; the Lead Creative Designer on FNV, John Gonzalez, went on to be the Narrative Director at Guerilla for Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.
Fallout 3 was my first Fallout. It's open world RPG the possibilities!
fallout is great, it's the type of game that gives you a lot of stuff to do outside of the main story. Even some random building or house in the middle of no where may have a story to it
Also the dog won’t die. And there’s a dog companion in each game.
Of the Fallout games, I think 4 is my favorite.
the latter part of the first fallout trailer gives me the same vibes as the cod World at War menu and music.
Fallout rules:
Rule 1: war never changes
Rule 2: there's always a Doggo
Fo76
Fallout 1 and 2 are cult classics. One of the best RPG games ever made. From newer games only New Vegas have the same atmosphere and charm. F3 and F4 were good but also kinda disappointing. They pretty much were Elder Scrolls with guns.
Dont listen to the fallout 4 haters, I used to be one until I gave it a proper chance and now its my second favourite fallout game.
If you make your own story it’s great. I play it as a post apocalyptic survival game and have a lot of fun.
"Do y'all remember these -trailers- intros?"
Meg, Fallout 1 and 2 were the games of my teenage years. All the Half Lifes and Quakes or Warcraft 2's or Diablos of my high school years were nothing to Fallout 1 and 2.
Fun fact that was Matthew Perry’s voice in new vegas
key words here "imprisoned safely"
This game is edging closer to reality by the day😅
That machine is codpice hes your 1st conpainion with dogmeat in boston
1:21 only me getting goosebumps after the echo?
No?
Dogmeat is the only companion that I can tolerate in Fallout .. lol
Dang, I was just planning to play this game and get a pc. and you uploaded this! Great timing lol.
I'd love to see you play this series.
I really hope you play 4 but with a few add ons. My only problem is catching the live when I'm awake
They recently had the 25th anniversary
If you wanna play the first two fallout games they’re available on Steam.
Literally playing fallout 4 right now as this video popped up for me
100% start with 3 and you will be in love with this franchise 👍
Fallout is so good, I'll be honest I've only played from 3 onward, but I feel you get enough lore to not really need to play 1 and 2, However, it's your call, but I'd be interested in seeing a playthrough including the first 2. Maybe if anything, you can do like the first witcher and watch a recap of the first 2. Fallout 4 is my favorite, I dont care what anyone says or the hate it gets.
Fallout 3 is the best of all the games. New vegas as well.
The bomb didn’t drop in the fifties. More like the early 21st century. But it’s an alternate history where American culture and aesthetics seemed to have stopped in the fifties. Hence everything being “atomic” and retro
The bombs dropped on the 23rd of October 2077.
Why does the audio sound so weird? Did you intentionally distort the audio of the trailers to avoid copyright strike stuff?
Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for an nuclear winter.
I hope you play Fallout 1 & 2, but they are very retro games with quite old systems. Be ready to take a lot of time, but I hope you have fun!
Meg thought Fallout was Skyrim LOL how cute ;)
The hideouts cabin fucked me up, not a quest but a note that fucked me up, fallout is great at background story telling
Me still waiting for MegMage to start playing Fallout
Please play these games. And their DLCs. The fallout series has amazing world building and atmosphere. It was one of the first games I ever played that had an open world and it blew my mind back in 2009 that games could be non-linear
I know it sounds bad. But I want a fallout game set in China and Japan
“Thought it was a fantasy world” it is. The male fantasy lol
Yeah, I still had a lot of fun with Fallout 4 :)
If you're thinking of playing, 4 is probably the most accessible. Aside from some small references, there aren't things that require you to have played the previous games. The earlier games may require quite a bit of reading aloud(or viewers will have to read)
I played 3(dc) 4 ( Vegas) & 5 ( Boston) & I'll play the 6th one too
3:10 you don't want to. Trust me on this.
