    Thanks Shawn... instead of focusing on the tiny minute details... you teach the most important lessons I have understood in 25 years. Listen to your body and find your swing within it, swing freely when you find that confidence and (most importantly for me) the ball is only in your path toward your target... not the end result. I had my most rewarding range sessions in... well.. forever this weekend. No more over the top... no more using the grip that I am "supposed" to use (thanks Sav for proving that you can work the ball with a strong grip) and I'm not sore anymore, even after a bucket or two of 100+ balls. Just keying in on sensible methodology relieved all of that tension from my swing. I now have one mission\swing sequence.. I set my path... I swing through my path and if I miss my target... it's by far less than I ever have before. I'm over 50... been scoring in the high 80's, and now... I truly believe that I can be in the 70's soon and consistently. You guys rock! Kudos for sharing your mind with the world.

    Shawn, I've been lurking and following your videos for several years. I finally decided today to sign up for a monthly membership. I've finally come to the conclusion that most of what I've been taught about golf over the last 40 years has been wrong. I've started a journey to let the body do what it's designed to do and it's all starting to come together. I love your philosophy and this early extension demonstration just clicked for me. I'm working my way through all of your videos and I can't wait to start working on more of your concepts on the range. Thanks for what you do!

    Every time I watch videos of Moe I just want to give him a big hug and I'm not a very affectionate person .He didn't care how he looked and told everyone just what he felt. Nothing good ever happens when the lead hip gets high thru impact. The lead knee is something that can be trained. I am hitting the ball more consistently solid than ever. Would this be a area of focus for me ? I'm sorry for being so negative on other methods in our podcast. I guess there are several mehods to hitting a golfball . I undoubtedly have chosen the best.

    I don't know if you'll see this Shawn, but this is such a great lesson and you're one of the only instructors I've seen that talks about the swing this way. I have been practicing the swing diligently for the last 14 years or so and I think I've came to the conclusion that it might be.....a total waste of time to train positions in the golf swing. It doesn't matter how many times you put the club there, when you go back to a full swing, you'll go right back to swinging through the positions that are inherent to your erroneous concept or rather intention to hit at the ball.
    My question here is, what do you think is the best way to train yourself to swing THROUGH ball to the target and change your mental habit of going AT the ball? Really great stuff Shawn, you just keep proving yourself to be one of the best instructors out there. Best of luck to you and your family in the future, my friend. 😉

      Thank you for the great comment and realization! And sorry for what could be perceived as “a shameless plug” but our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com for just $9.95 per month has my life’s work and the series you are looking for as that is our mission, constantly, to get you THROUGH THE BALL AND INTO YOUR FLIGHT PLAN with both mental and physical ease.
      The series you are looking for start with “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning” and “snap release polish”
      -once you have felt this amazing yielding of the anatomy to the weight of the club head, you get with “throwing the club”, “the throwing series” and “arc-blur unstoppable momentum” series.
      -once done with that, we need to predict how the ball becomes the INTERSECTION on the way to this releasing with “predict contact” and “the goldie locks series”
      -finally, to finish the job properly, with consistency, see “pre-motor cortex series” and “target confirmation series”
      This is the general blue-print to bring someone from “hit the ball”, “don’t miss the ball”, “get into these positions to hit the ball better” TO TAKE THE BALL FROM WHERE IT AND RELEASE IT INTO THE FLIGHT PLAN that takes it into the hole; because the over the top, the fat, the shank, the slice, the early extension, the chicken wing, the steep downswing with level shoulder plane ALL RELATE TO DELIVERING AT THE BALL.
      NOBODY ELSE HAS THIS INFO; just like you said; so thank you! 😀👍

    I have watched a large percentage of your videos going back many years. One of the best tips I picked up was from your daughter. In one video she mentioned watching the blur. That did it for me. All the weed wacker, door frame tips didn't keep my focus on the club path. I was still a head hitter regardless of all that. I.e. my head wanted to swing the club.
    By watching the blur I rapidly got my head to sit still and focus on the club path tracing an arch through the ball in the direction of the target. Maybe work out a video series showing how that works in case I am not an oddity.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 роки тому +4

      Hey Warren! Big Big important reference for the brain! Once the brain knows where the club is going to pass, then you CAN PREDICT IMPACT and stop worrying about it and actually focus on where you want the ball to go!
      WE DID A FULL SERIES ON OUR PREMIUM CHANNEL AT www.wisdomingolfpremium.com (Just $9.95 per month) called “ARC-BLUR UNSTOPPABLE MOMENTUM” series, because the blur forms a natural arc. Plus the classic video that started it all called “BLUR OF CLUB” which then becomes instrumental in the “PREDICT CONTACT” and “GOLDIE LOCKS SERIES” videos.

    any tips for someone that hits great irons off of mats, but struggles on real grass? sometimes I take divots that are too deep, and I'll over correct, and take no divot at all and then hit thin shots, and my overall distance seems about 10 yards shorter off of grass than mats.

    Hi Shawn, I either use the feeling of cutting the grass or the slashing with the sword task but I’ve noticed on your videos that you use the throwing the club task more than any other task. Is that the next level task that I have to eventually graduate to or can i stick with cutting the grass or slashing with the sword task?

      good observation! if the action tasks you are using now work well for you, then don’t worry about it; many are still too focused on “down where the ball is” and need to have a much more through ward action visual with the PREDICTION that the stem is in the way. I’ve been working on straight back with the club head pointed at the target, pressing with the right foot and then an immediate weight shift onto my left foot (R H golfer). Would you delay the weight shift? Having it done immediate gives me confidence because it’s easier. I get a thin one every now and then, but better than chunk. Thanks

      Weight shift is not what you want to be thinking through at all, it is a fundamental part of the self preserving system of a human machine as we are experts at it!! The key is to get a task that will shift the weight at the right time, the right amount AS A NECESSITY!! See all our “throwing the club shawn clement” videos and then see “how to put the ball in the way of your swing shawn clement” as a start.

    I love your videos Shawn, very detailed explanations and easy to practice drills.
    I have a question for you please. I can swing a stick at 115mph with my left arm and at 125mph with my right arm. When I swing the stick with both arms, my swing speed drops to 96mph, if I am lucky I can get to 105mph...
    My smash factor is always above 1.43 and I get good distance because of that, but if I could swing faster with both arms I could gain 30 or more yards off the tee. I am not Mu :-), but I carry 165 with my 8 iron with a natural draw.
    I am very flexible (shoulder turn 118*), and do not have issues with early extension. My big misses are blocks to the right.
    What drill would you recommend me to do so I can swing consistently faster with both arms?
    Thanks!
    San

      If we can't get past that niggling thought how can we get to swining to the target? Well put, thankyou so much. In every other endeavour we repeat, repeat until it becomes mentally comfortable. In tennis we hit a lot rapidly, in baseball we have more than one chance to hit the ball allowing for some fouled hits, not in golf. The fact that the ball is static is a fiendishly clever ploy of seeming easier.

    I have found myself thinking about how you impress people with the real notion of the weight being managed in the golf swing. The hammer that symbolically is the shoulders, arms and hands with the club. Golf is a game of being precise about position and a compromise of the use of power. What’s most admired in golf is the players ability to control the golf shots. People wouldn’t be awe struck if Bryson DeChambeau’s 400 yard drives if the drives were also 100 yards to the left or right of the fairway.

    so at impact the lead knee is bent???

    • @TheCEHS
      @TheCEHS 3 роки тому

      I think so. See minute 3:58. My understanding from watching Shawn's videos and playing around with this the past few days is that early extension in the legs and early extension of the wrists are just two sides of the same coin. If the legs extend early, this deploys the clubhead early (i.e. early extension of the wrists, assuming you give the clubhead up to gravity). Or if the wrists deploy the clubhead early, one must then extend the legs in order to not stick the clubhead in the ground before the ball. Either way you've deployed your peak energy before the clubhead meets the ball. In order to hit the ball with proper lag and with peak clubhead energy, one must keep the knees bent into impact. Shawn, can you confirm that this is correct? Thank you - big fan by the way, ever since I bought your video series back in the day - and finally I think am starting to understand the golf swing thanks to your teaching.
