- On Wednesday 20th June Bryan Robson visited our school to help launch our partnership with the Manchester United Foundation. The Manchester United Foundation is the charitable organisation of the famous football club. One of its main purposes is to provide opportunities for young people across the Greater Manchester area. It aims to help raise aspiration and access to provision and experiences that are not readily available to most young people. The unique partnership benefits our pupils and those within our local primary schools. Bryan Robson came to officially launch this unique working relationship and whilst he was in school he visited a number of curriculum areas. He was impressed with the art work that focused on the World Cup in the style of artist Daniel Nyari, a fantastic piece of this art work was given as a gift to Bryan for his visit - created by the very talented Tegan P Y10. In science the class were focused on testing shin pad materials and urine samples (not real urine!), before he had the chance to roll back the years and get involved in some football led by our fantastic young sports leaders and the pupils from St. John’s primary school. The visit concluded with a press conference question and answer session in the arts theatre where pupils had the opportunity to ask Bryan questions about his career and leadership. Bryan was great at explaining how he had been resilient and adaptable in his journey from a young schoolboy in County Durham to becoming captain of Manchester United and England! It was a fantastic day and everyone involved enjoyed the visit and enjoyed interacting with Bryan and the rest of the Manchester United Foundation Team!
