Tim I know that I speak for many when I say we appreciate your honesty as it relates to all the products you spotlight. Thanks for doing such a great job as always.
Great job with this episode. Your presentation couldn't have been done any better.
Thanks!
Great video. Tim, you provided detailed information in this video. Amazing. I have a 2038R, and I am definitely adding the side link. Thank you, and Merry Christmas.
Yu provide a great informational video. You speak to the novice as well as the individual that gets your point quicker. Thanks for taking time to give us this information. I hope your family has a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Looking forward to next years videos you have planned to help us learn more about our tractors and the uses they are able to provide.
Great video Tim. Thanks for explaining all details of this kit. Good and bad. Also, Merry Christmas to the TTWT family.
Long time sub here. Bought my first 1025r because of your content. Moved up to a 3038e for our homestead now, but we are constantly referring back to your expertise. Thank you, Tim and Merry Christmas.
Really appreciate you continuing to watch. The larger links (for 2038r) here will fit your 3e. 3038e is same as 2038r…only less features.
Kevlar hose sheathing works great. I often run a pair of hoses through one sheath. This holds them together and also protects them.
Ok, but ‘holding together’ is not always the right answer in these tight spaces. It is a significant challenge.
You're right about the Fitrite T&T kit lead time and higher cost. However, I opted to order from him anyway. Also, I could have my choice of color. I'm glad I bought from them after watching this video. Everything runs so smoothly. All the hoses are the perfect length for my tractor and the fittings didn't have to be changed. I'd say I had the standard links removed and the Fitrite installed in 15 minutes including moving the original manual side link to the left side in order to double my tilt if necessary.
Tim, I have my Summit valves on the right-hand side and moved my toolbox to the top of the loader mount with a custom bracket. This gave me more room back there. Having the Summit valves on the power beyond side of the tractor seems to help keep my hoses out of the way. Love your content. Merry Christmas!
Very informative video. I love it when you cover both the benefits and the weaknesses of a product. I plan to buy one of these kits for my Massey GC. I want the front third function also.
Merry Christmas Tim and family. I wish you the very best and hope that you have a very Happy New Year. May you stay healthy in the New Year. God Bless.
Great video, thanks for your time and honesty. Merry Christmas!
I am unfamiliar with operating sub and compact tractors this was informative! I can’t imagine the time spent to make this video❗️
Hi - thanks for the great content - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Take care!!!
We used john deere kit on a 4m,it was simple and heavy duty.Works smooth.
Thanks for the very informative video Tim. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a blessed Happy New Year
I have had a top and tilt from FitRite on my 2011 JD 2520 since about 2013. Absolutely amazing quality and customer service. I wouldn’t hesitate to be in a 6 month wait.
Yes Merry Christmas everyone
8:55 - Tim - you do a great job of being fair to Summit, while NOT "covering" for them. This is a difficult thing to do, from our experience, and I think you do a good job.
Thanks! It is not easy. Being all in…or all out is easy. Communicating weaknesses while recommending is definitely a challenge. I DO recommend the products.
Very thorough explanation. I like your gentle nudge to get commenters to use the correct terminology.
Can you believe rain on Christmas eve day at the North Dakota - South Dakota border? Last year I was plowing 2 feet of snow.
Merry Christmas.
Tim, ive watched your channel now since 2019, bought my 2020 1025r because of your channel and advise.what you did today is one of the best explanations ive heard you do concerning the hydro system and trouble and correction ideas you have had...you even explained something ive been concerned about doing myself and wasnt sure how it was going to go....thanks for going the extra mile in presenting this...
Thanks for the encouraging words!
Thanks for sharing, looks like a nice addition.
Merry Christmas, Tim, Christy & Katriel..🎄⛄🎅
Nice hydraulic top and side link cylinder kits! Merry Christmas!
Excellent video, lots of detail. It convinced me that I don't want to have anything to do with a hydraulic sidelink!!!
I love my Summit power beyond + my Summit 3 valve setup for the hydraulic toplink. However, sidelink just isn't something I need to adjust often enough to offset the expense and the additional complication just seems like its asking for problems. I had to remount both the 3 valve assembly and the toplink cylinder to achieve a configuration that would avoid hanging/crushing the hoses on my 1025R. Based on the videos on the installation I've watched and some comments I've seen, there are apparently random variation in the ROPS, flashers, tool box mounting that insure there is no 'set' mounting configuration available for adding hydraulic accessories. on the 1R series.
IMO - YMMV.
Merry Christmas Tim And Christy
Your clear presentation made me decide to have the dealer install my new top and tilt and multiplier kit (summit's) for $100 labor.
Great video. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
It's probably in here somewheres but a bungee cord does wonders and possibly some zip tie help.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Katriel, Kristy, and Tim
Merry Christmas Tim and Christy.
Merry CHRISTmas to Tim and Kristi.
Merry Christmas, very well done and informative 2025r
Merry Christmas Tim and Christie
Awesome, enjoyed your video!
Once again your candid, transparent and practical observations are refreshing and helpful for those considering these solutions. And for what it’s worth, after having Top and Tilt on my tractor, I wouldn’t want to be without it. Tim, Christy, and Katriel Christmas blessings to you and your families ❤️
What are the retracted and extended lengths of your side link?
@@TractorTimewithTim That’s a good question. I have not measured, but more than I have ever extended it. I’ll have to measure it and.let you know.
thanks hope your holidays are good , from southern indiana
Great video. Merry Christmas.
Tim, Nice job, great information. I would like to see an actuator for the SSQA that uses the third function.
I like the information presented in this video. Hopefully, Summit considers your feedback and offers the best options under the circumstances.
Hi Tim. Merry Christmas to you and Christy.
Great video ! It would be great if you can install those reduce flow adapters and then show the tilt.
Very informative video as always Tim! Would a flow control on the return line of the side link, smooth things out? I guess you'd need two as the extend and retract swap return line sides. Merry Christmas, and thanks again for you great and informative videos!
Tim one thing I see as a issue the tight side to side spacing of the valve ports if the aluminum block was 1.25 inches thicker in the middle and the spacing from top to bottom had more space cause to replace a coupler you basically have to dismantle the entire thing it would also help cool the hydraulic fluid
I have the summit third function kit and the agristore top link on my 2032r. All works great except for the fact I have to keep bumping the button well using my grapple or it will loose its grip due to bleed off. But not a big deal! May have to look into the tilt link? Merry Christmas and Happy New year.
If you want the factory adjustment link on the opposite side in place of the non adjustable one you could just cut off the end that the angle doesn’t match and then just weld it back in the correct orientation.
Tim, "“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Noodling this out may not be quite the same event as the quote from Neill Armstrong when he walked on the moon but it's a work in progress and a step in the right direction that will eventually reap benefits and help many tractor owners. Merry Christmas to you Christy and family!
Place the check valves on the cylinder side, especially those on the top link. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, Tim & Christie... Need smaller hoses and restrictors, should do away with the jump in the linkage ... 🤔🤞🙏👍🎄🎄🍔🌭
Finally starting to convert my top link over to hydraulic. However I'm going with the single spool manual lever. Might be a task to find a good place for it, I have a 2016, so my seat has to rotate for use with the backhoe. I'm sure I'll get it figured out. I bought the 18-26 cylinder and hoses from agristoreusa, and the other components from summit. I still need to get some of the fittings, but not until I'm happy with the placement of the valve and connection locations.
Cool!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Nice Vid!
Good video.
Tim, for your chop saw - welder 1025 viewers, make a jig for your left hand lift arm, the LH lift arm is your pattern, now cut the brackets off of your right hand adjustable lift arm, place the bracketless RH part in the jig and reweld the brackets, you now have a LH adjustable lift arm, if one needs to remove the RH hydraulic lift arm, the RH adjustable lift arm is available from dealer
Uh, yea.
Suggestion. My New holland has several holes in the shaft on both sides of the lift arms. by moving the left hand one down, you are raising the lift arms higher in the up position. Even your larger cylinder has several holes on the bottom of the unit.
Maybe some entrepreneur with a machine shop/welding business, could manufacture a left-hand adjustable link for the 1025r. I'd probably buy one even if I don't go with the power option. Thanks for all of the info, Tim.
Summit is working on it. Shouldn't be too long now.
Tim would a linear actuator used on the adjustable arms. Yes it can be strengthened and its electric. Yes it would need a tilt function accessory but it would work quite well
If it could be strong enough, it would be great!
the john Deere factory back hole doing power beyond the tractor's hydraulic system thumb ups with the power beyond term good way breaking down the term
Question.... the top and tilt would play well with all my implements ... Except my offset flail... I have the 2 factory remotes on my 2038. Pondering spending $$ to add remotes to run the top and tilt... because I change the top link and sidelink... If I attach the flail... I have to change back to the standard ones to be able to adjust things
I'm almost positive you can get away with 1 restrictor. Regardless of which way the flow is going it still has to go through the orifice be it on the pressure or the relief side.
Nope. Tried it…thought like you, but it doesn’t work that way!
@@TractorTimewithTim Huh, shows what I know. Thanks for the reply.
I would love to see a diverter kit after the loader joystick, switch one way the joystick works the loader, other way it works the top and tilt
3R’s 4th and 5th work that way I think.
All this for a back blade tilt, looks easier to modify the blade to recieve both a tilt and angle cylinder 😮 good luck 🤞
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Tim, you (and Ken) have done so much research regarding the hydraulic systems in these small compact tractors. I have a 2019 1025r largely influenced by this channel. I would love to install a top and tilt kit for my box blade. I don’t like the electric over hydraulic valves. Is it possible to use a simple loader joystick style manual valve set on these tractors instead? The plan would be the same as yours, plug into power beyond when backhoe is not attached and removed when backhoe is in place.
Hydrosplus.com is introducing a proportional valve this year sometime.
We need to invent Bluetooth wireless cylinders and get rid of the hoses 🤣 But in the meantime, 1/4" hoses will help, some.
Merry Christmas Tim and Christy.
I like it! Get on that…you’ll be rich!
I hope that you have a great Holiday Season. I hope that Santa will make a stop at your house.
Tim I went with a JD right side adjustable link on my left side and haven’t had an issue. I have a Frontier 60” finish mower I use on my 2025R and it hasn’t been a problem.
I also have a Frontier RB2160 back blade that tilts as well as moves left and right. I needed the adjustment on the left side to get more lift because the RB2160 rear blade is taller than other blades.
It is not ‘a problem’…but if you look closely, having your lift arms ‘level’ when raised will result in them ‘not level’ when lowered. They do not ‘stay in sync’.
This likely doesn’t bother most folks, but it did me! :-)
@@TractorTimewithTim I set it so it’s level on the ground. I have no reason to be concerned when it’s in the air. It works for my situation.
A very Merry Christmas to you and the family Tim. 🎄
@@ranger6x660 yep. As I say, wouldn’t bother most…but I’m weird :-)
I do appreciate the additional lift height!
For the cup of oil to make that cylinder move i would use 1/8"or 3/16 hose. Would also help with flow speed and control. Merry Christmas.
Not really. Must have much more restriction than that!!
Just saying better than 3/8
@@marlondeere3039Ralso, never heard of 3/16” hose…and 1/8” hose is expensive.
Hello Tim, in your research for side link adjusters have you seen any like the manual type i see quite often on the ford n series tractors
PS: Did you consider rotating the top link 180 to put the hoses on the tractor's right side? Seems like it would get them away from the top lift point on the hitch? Just a thought. And thanks for sharing.
First off Merry Christmas Tim to you and your family I love your channel it’s because of you I bought a 1025r and started a side hustle my question is I use a w24 stump grinder a lot do you think with all the shaking it does do you think it would damage a hydraulic top link ( I’m thinking of getting one) or hinder it in any way
No problem with hydraulic top link on stump grinder.
I would say that grinding stumps continually with a 1025r is likely not good for overall longevity. Consider a larger machine. 3R for example.
I’ve been watching for a while now,
You do a good job of explaining things.
Question is, I have a newer 1025r with a quick connection for the bucket. With that said. Where can I hook up a test gauge to check hydraulic pressure . I don’t have individual lines that can be disconnected.
Thanks
Yes. Boltonhooks.com has pressure gauges with an ISO 16028 Flat face coupler. It will fit your quick connect port.
Having said that, he is temporarily out of gauges. So, you may have to wait a awhile for your order to be fulfilled.
Let me know when the TTWT edition side link comes out.
I have often thought that the hose size should be reduced even more. Parker has hydraulic hoses as small as 5/64 inch inner diameter. Granted the couplings would have to be larger, but these still have ratings over 5800psi.
Smaller than 1/4” is expensive!
Great Content Tim! Does Summit have a side link kit for the 2025R? My measurements on a side link for the 2025R are approximately 15" to 21".
I am not sure. Take a close look at the top and bottom connectors for compatibility.
Merry Christmas Tim! Great video with the great explanation of the pro and cons. I'm sure you have a great relationship with Summit, but with the little issues you pointed out, wonder why Summit didn't take your advice? Seemes like they wanted to rush it, perhaps? Not trying to be negative, just seems like it was rushed on their in. I know if i would have purchased this kit without seeing your video i would be upset for the amounts on money i spent. However watching the video, least i know what i am going to expect from your review.
I do not know. I have some theories, but I do not know. Perhaps this video will help.
In the fluid engineering world, we would consider an in line speed control valve to reduce the jerking. They aren’t expensive and hep balance/smooth motion in high pressure and flow systems.
They actually ARE kind of expensive for this size unit ($80 each…). A simple restrictor is a better value.
Merry Christmas Tim and thank you for the content.
Great information. If you switch to a 1/4 hose, would you still want to use the inline restrictive fitting?
Yes
Probably.
Has Summit come up with the valve body unit for higher flow pumps yet? Recalling that there were restriction concerns during the university testing.
They have them for larger machines, yes. You have larger machine, right?
Merry Christmas Tim. Why don't the manufacturers engineer a solution, Costs???
Great video! Does the quick connect cluster get in way when using the backhoe?
Makes it harder to get on and off, yes. You could mount on the right side, but that would affect visibility…I look under my right shoulder at rear attachments.
@@TractorTimewithTim
Thanks, great perspective!
Tim needs to take a trip to Spokane and visit Summit and dial everything in.
Phoenix
Much better in the winter :)@@TractorTimewithTim
ALL spool type valves will leak internally. More expensive valves MAY leak less, but they will still leak. An orifice in the tilt valve line would be a good and inexpensive fix, try that.
‘Orifice’ otherwise known as a restrictor, as I discussed.
Tim, I read an article that said we should use a tandem center valve as opposed to an open center valve. The reason was that tandem center did not leak down like an open center. I don't know if this is the case, just passing along what I read. Do you know anything about this?
Never heard of it.
Hey Tim, why not take the original adjustable side link and have the top cut, turned, and rewelded? Then you would have the additional adjustment you were wanting.
Because it is "not about me". How would me doing that help anyone else? I don't think telling everyone to find their own machine shop and pay for custom service really makes sense.
Got it, I understand. Just thought that way you could see if it would be worth it to do.
I had a problem with the mower deck the mower deck was just dropped down like a hard rock. They had to put an orifice into the line and once that was done, they went down smoothly.
An ‘orifice’ is what I am calling a restrictor.
@@TractorTimewithTim yes as a restrictor, but it also slows down and smooth it out
Looks like you need to put some kind of restriction in the lines for the tilt
Keep watching!
I am curious Tim, do you think that they will manufacture for the left side as you suggested?? I myself would also prefer that so I don't want to make this purchase to have them come out with that in a couple a six months.
I do not know.
Add in the restrictor coupling on both sides of the cylinder. You may address this as I’m only 5 seconds in this video.
Bein a youtuber yourself, you should know better than to provide suggestion in the first 5 seconds!! Good to hear from you, Dave!
Lol
I agree 1/4 hose would also restrict flow and help. I put the restrictors on my side links. Glad you mentioned them. I been thinking of machining a micro sized double piloted locking valve to fit short cylinders. Even the cylinder on my tractor side link was really to short for the standard load locking valves. I mounted mine for the tilt cylinder near the tractor seat. It’s just a pain to hook up at times as you mentioned. Hope you all have an amazing blessed Christmas.
I thought I was the only one that called those water pump pliers
could a person just put a ball vale in the line i know i did that on a hyd lift bin auger before
The tilt would give u a concussion
1/4 inch hose would probably help slow it down
No, not really.
@@TractorTimewithTim So you don't believe the lower volume of fluid would stop the jumping you're thinking the jumping is being caused by the pressure of the fluid.
@@NYTROeastno. Not nearly enough restriction. Amazing how much fluid can get through an 1/8” opening at 2000+ PSI.
👍👍
That seems about useless to me tim
Ha!
Excellent video!
I purchased a hyd. top link last year from Agristore and I am very happy with it. I just purchased a hyd. side link from them also but I have not installed it yet. I'm surprised you didn't mention Agristore as an alternative to the other two. Appreciate your honest reviews Tim. Merry Christmas! Kioti CK35HST
I was thinking 1025r specifically. I shoulda mentioned them for larger tractors. Forgot that they even carry side links.
Do they make a power beyond kit for a JD 790
Yep. If it supports a backhoe, there is a power beyond!
@@TractorTimewithTim thanks
maybe hydr. flow controls
