I can relate to what you all said, and I like what you all had to say. I'm introverted and shy. The part when one of you said being told from our peers about how to act and the stereotypes of black women. I connected with you as a black woman it's very hard. But like one of you said you can unlearn it and change, and I am doing that.
I love this conversation. I am naturally quiet and reserved with people I do not know. My family members have constantly ask me to talk more or be more social. I choose when I talk and watch people closely.
In France, black introverted people, or just black people who don't fit the stereotypes are usually called "bounty" which is a snack with chocolate at the outside and white coco at the inside
@@TheSufficientlyBlackPodcast yeah but oreos are better 🤣 In France the real problem abour "african french" communities is the panafricanism and the fact that they bring racial problems thar come from the US, to France. Of course there is racism in France, but not as much or as worse as in the US. Some young black people in France (mostly the ones who only stay in those communities) tend to think that their case is equivalent to the american case
@@2nd3rd1st it was already weird to me as a candy joke, and I understand what you mean but in general french people are very bad with english so they don't know the meaning of "bounty"
What is your guys' definition of introversion? For me it doesn't really have much to do with being quiet but about where you get energy from, if you're scared to speak up in a situation maybe you're shy as opposed to introverted because shy depends on the situation, you can be shy in one environment and not in another but if you are introverted stimulation is going to drain you pretty much no matter what so an introvert is quiet because they are drained or overwhelmed not because they are uncomfortable, so guess I just wanted to say I couldn't relate to this, but no bigs
I definitely agree with you that being introverted can be an energy thing. But I also think being an introvert can be very nuanced. I think there are some people out there where it doesn't only hit your energy, but it also has to do with feeling a bit shy and uncomfortable in unfamiliar social situations.

Not weird to you that ppl call a black person a "bounty" even as a candy joke? I mean, that's really just slavery language and not even low key
