This is the coolest yet strangest thing I have ever seen. Love it 😂 Maybe the water acted as fertilizer? I know gardens like old fish water haha. Just a guess though lol. Also, Marilyn is a cutie!

I love fish water for my plants, it's insane how fast it will make plants grow!
Attempted it with regular potato and sweet potato within a week the regular potato got soft and smelled sweet potato started to sprout
how long will sweet potatoe grows before rotting?
Does the fish eat the root ? Sorry for asking bout this, just really curious. Wouldn't it harm them ? Can betta live in it too?
Aquarium hydroponics is a very interesting field of research. I might suggest keeping a daily written scientific journal on your research. Great work and I will look for your sweet potato results.

I think fully submerging the potato would cause it to rot in the water! I like the look of the potato partly in water and partly out, so it works out just fine ^_^

That’s my concern. I’ve yet to encounter a worse smell on this earth than a rotten bag of potatoes I came home to in my basement after a few weeks away during a heat wave. The smell was horrific

weird video. so showing you to put a rotting potato in water? I would use that sweet potatoe as a starter and snip the vines @ 6 inches and root and plant.
I'm trying this out myself. So do you put the 'eye' part in to soak up the water or the non 'eye' portions?

Never heard of this before. I do start my sweet potatoes in water.
I actually never heard of putting regular potatoes in fish tanks until the day I tried it! I have seen people putting sweet potatoes in tanks and it turns out really cool as well because they tend to grow leaves!
