- Sheesh, that's a mouthful. Yard dice are a very easy and fun project. Especially with the end of winter and better weather on the horizon!
These started out as a resin project but ended up becoming much simpler. Honestly, I don't think they would have looked near as good had I gone with my original concept!

Not to be mistaken with Giant Indoor Glow-in-the-Dark Yard Dice
Foam dice?
Mad Art Foam dice (yep)
😂
Look man, if you're gonna get my gamer juices flowing, you're kind of obligated to do a full set now. D4, D8, 2 x D10, D12, and D20 now
I do not look forward to the jig required to make a D20. BUT... that would be AWESOME.
What about the D100?
Seriously, a set of polyhedral dice would be amazing!!! Lawn D&D needs to be a thing now.
Lawn D&D with Cos-Play. The neighbours would flip! xD
LARP done _right_. :-P
You can sing! You have a very nice voice
Peter I have an idea for you
If you make another nuka cola bottle opener and put the UV tracer on them. They will glow like nuka cola quantum
Dude! I really need to re-make that project. I love that idea!
Peter Brown are you gonna make fidget spinners yet or...
It's on the list! My only lacking resource these days is time! :)
OMG YAS!
Peter Brown I think if you painted them flat white first they would glow brighter. I work at Lowe's and I spend a lot or time reading lables if I'm not mistaken that is the Mfg. specification.
Mrs. Brown is the real MVP, can we please see a dip it episode of you preserving a bouquet of flowers in resin for her? maybe in a square silicone cake pan, arranged around the sides framing a photo in the middle with a nice wood frame. That would be so sweet, and really cool looking.
That would be a lovely project. I second this motion.
@@JillianBeach77 I second your second. I am in full agreement with this idea.
Time to make a giant Yahtzee score pad now!
That would be amazing
What? You can't keep score in your head? Hang a sheet on the clothes line.....
TAOFLEDERMAUS Jeff!! Just got done watching the railroad spike video
Thank you for showing with the black light off, I've always been skeptical about "glow in the dark" projects. All the ones I've seen only work with black lights. That's why I like you! You show us everything.
Now all you need is some giant outdoor windshields with rear-view mirrors to hang them on. Good one, Peter!
Haha!
Peter Brown! I love your videos man!
Thank you!
Peter Brown will u do a dip it with glitter
madison lacy pleas
I keep waiting for you to cast pancakes in resin..... I guess this will do for now. lol. but seriously gotta do it.
Actually, I did try them. I'm thinking about making a video of all my resin failure attempts. It might be fun to see why things don't work,
Seems like standard pancakes would absorb too much. Perhaps paleo styled pancakes, which look the same but are much denser in texture, would function where regular pancakes cannot.
yes please do this haha im curious!
mycatmoe your wish came true
The dice came out really neat, I love them.
I also appreciate not doing the tier thing with patreon. One of my other favourite channels did and now they offer so many things to those that pay that used to be offered to everyone as a community. It's probably hard for people to believe someone can't afford 3, 5 10 whatever dollars, but it's true. Thanks for keeping things open to all of us, and for sharing so many cool projects.
Thank you very much for the comprehensive video and no distracting music. They look cool!
Having made a bunch of these - the glow in the dark is a GREAT idea! Thank you! And thank you for showing all your glow experiments. PS - for any sized dice, you can quickly make your own template by dividing the size into 16 pieces (draw a line down the center, then down then center of those halves, rotate the piece and do it again) - the intersections of those lines give you the points you need for the spots. As long as you pay attention to which holes you're punching, you really only need one template. A bull-nose router bit chucked in the drill press also produces nice round holes if people prefer that. The glow idea is gold - icing on the cake - thank you for the fun channel!
Having used luminous paint for glow in the dark fishing floats, I was told to paint the item in white paint first then use the glow paint. Seems to have worked for me. Thks for a good project.
I honestly find your singing voice so calming. Your voice is very rich and warm and reminds me of lullabies. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this channel because despite not having the ability to acquire woodworking tools I find it fascinating and your personality is so likable and watchable and genuine and it always brightens my mood to watch these videos.
These remind me of the ones that Oogie Boogie uses in the Nightmare Before Christmas.
Laura Doole yep
was looking for this comment lol
those dice and a big potato sack with eyes sitting on the porch would make a great Halloween decoration! :D
Handsome, excellent wood-working skills, and now you can sing...Triple threat!
Mrs brown saved the day. again. without matches this time.
I stood there for about 20 minutes explaining how I couldn't possibly make it simpler. I was really stuck on the resin idea. She was right though and common sense won out! :)
Maybe she thought resin wouldn't burn as well as plain wood...
Peter Brown I wonder what would've happened if you did a coat of spray paint underneath a coat of glowing resin
Seems like a pretty simple straight forward project that I could do with my kids. Thanks for sharing.
The transitions between each die when drilling the holes were done amazingly.
Best Patreon plug ever, seriously. Kinda reluctant, yet appreciative.
Brings back memories of my first ever wood-working project: a pencil holder designer to look like dice about this size. I was in middle school at the time, so it was janky as hell, but it gave me a love for wood-working I haven't been able to get rid of even a decade later.
I was so excited with all the guys and dolls references, it's my all time favorite musical and this made my day.♡
Just a great idea!! Next time I travel up north I'll Challenge u to a dice game.... Ha!! Great video. Thanks
I don’t comment much but I just really want you to know I am so inspired by everything you do. I love you work and your videos and you helped get me into wood working. Now it’s how I make a living.
Great fun ...and useful project Peter STICKER SWAP!!!!!!
Cheers
Mike
So creative, Pete. Thank you for inspiring us all!
There is a special thrill to the day when I see a new Peter Brown video on my feed! This was awesome, as always!
French fry potatoe peeler for your next dip it?
I've done a project with a peeler. It was actually my first Dip It.
Yea the bacon dip it but how about a french fry in it? not a bad idea for a potatoe peeler.
I've made a few of these! Only I used a 6x6 Cedar beam. Used a heat gun to char the pips. so much fun to make and use! I like that you made them glow in the dark, adds a whole lot of new ways to use them.
You should find a wood similar in density or slightly less dense than polyethylene and make some true-to-weight/size ultimate frisbees out of them on the lathe! Then make some wacky ones out of epoxy.
Glad to see you still experimenting with those additives. Since I sent those samples I have changed companies and no longer have access to some of those pigments, but glad to see you're still having fun with them. Keep up the great videos. Cant wait to see what's next.
Thanks Peter looking forward to this fun project!
I made a few sets of these die and it was indeed boring! Those came out much better looking than mine. Mine don't glow in the dark.... they might after Brittney sees this video! Great job!
I agree! I was totally done with marking and drilling after one set! I love getting a chance to break out the black lights here.
It makes things so other worldly!
Very cool looking when they are glowing! Thanks for the idea, now I need some glow in the dark spray paint!!
I missed your old wood working vids. Great video as always, keep it up.
I'm so happy you POSTED this video!
another great video glad you still played with epoxy even though it was not in the final product. I also love when you sing in your videos.
Great project and even better Patreon announcement. I struggle with that too. If people want to support us for what we do, that's wonderful. But I never want to change my channel to cater to that. My number one focus is to ALL of my viewers. You are my role model :)
freaking love your channel, keep it up & don't ever stop please😂💕
you're the first youtuber to announce a patreon but not push it. good on you
I love everyday stuff made giant, it would be nice to see more of these or any kind, I really like your content!
Imagine how bright it would be if you'd painted a clear coat of glow-in-the-dark resin over top and finished with a clear coat!
SUPER BRIGHT
Looks like fun Peter!
I'm definitely going to have to make a set of these
If you don't have a die handy, the opposite sides all add up to 7. e.g. 1-6, 2-5, 3-4
Which means that if you don't consider reflections to be distinct, there is only one possible d6.
We're diving into the nerdy end of things here, I like it. If we don't ignore the reflections there are two possible d6. These are differentiated by their chirality. If you look at the corner where the 4,5,6 all meet, the order of the 4,5,6 can be right-handed (clockwise) or left handed (counter clockwise).
This is something I'm going to make my brother (he has a wood shop, as he's a custom cabinetmaker) do for us for the summer, since my mother has a pool and these would be fun to play with in the summertime.
I hope you do! They're so easy to make! You could even skip the drilling and just paint the pips on the wood! If there was ever a gateway drug into woodworking, this might be the project!
Peter Brown, I always love your videos! I've watched every single one! Keep up the great work! This project turned out awesome!
Well that was both fun and educational !!!
Did not know of the spray paint 🎨
Come for the snappy theme song, stay for the incredible woodworking!
NOOOO... FILL THE HOLES WITH BLACK RESIN!!!!!! DIP EEEHT :P
Next video is a DIP It! I promise!
I was hoping he'd use black resin in the pips too.
I support you on Patreon. I appreciate the hardwork that goes into these.
i made a few glow in the dark skulls out of clear resin, glow powder, and a silicone mould i got on ebay turned out really well, plus with the extra i made star and diamond shapes with soap/chocolate moulds for my niece, it was a small and easy present to make but she has kept them in her room for years, so she seemed to like it
Nice! But why did you yell "boring!" before you got to all the boring?
Ha! Woodworkers jokes!
Very cool! So my thought is... if you are charging them outside in the sun, only 5/6 of the sides will glow. You need to make a stand for them... drill a small hole in one corner of each, get a dowel or rod that is slightly smaller than the diameter of the hole to rest them on. You could then stick them in the ground or on a wooden base. That way each side would get nearly equal exposure.
Your a good guy with some really creative ideas. you inspire people and you should be proud of that. I will go to your patron page soon and support the entertainment you provide. thank you.
Yeah! So glad your back !
Peter, you should take the fortunes from fortune cookies and cover them in resin to make a plate or platter of some sort! It would be really neat!
hey Peter! love your work! I am thinking you could do something cool with resin or epoxy and dirt, or sand? maybe even the colored sand they use for fairs? a mug, a vase, a bowl, a hammer handle, another pendant? anything!
Every time I think this is the coolest thing ever Peter, you do something even cooler. We play this dice game at this bar and I think it would be hilarious if I brought these in. I just have to make a dice cup big enough lmao
Take care my friend and do a kindness
Mark
Awesome idea. Two changes I'm thinking for me is putting black resin in the pips and maybe choosing a different material for the dice. Thanks for the inspiration.
Supporting you from now on man! I LOVE your work!!
I legit thought I watched all your videos then this bad boy gets recommended to me. Love your stuff Peter
i like how that glow in the dark paint turned out on the wood, i think i might grab some scrap from my local wood shop and make a shift knob with the glow in the dark paint to see how it turns out, love the videos
Those dice are awesome! !
Thank you!
COOL!!!
"Awl I'm gonna do" 1:28
"Getting real board of this" 1:57
Did not go unnoticed.
Super fun project! Thanks for sharing!
Dude, you've made my life so much easier and better. Epoxy is life!
Amazing like always peter.
Very satisfying to watch!
I like the idea of glowing blocks with black pips.
8:32 "But i also love the *fuck* ..."
Apparently, I need to enunciate better.
That's a BIT of a stretch. It was pretty obvious he used a soft a sound, simply omitting the t at the end of the word.
FACK! Someone has been watching too much AvE
XD
DavrK fact LEL
Fun fact Pete, opposite sides of any die add up to one more than the highest number. On a 6 sided die, opposite sides will add up to 7, on a 20 sided die, they'll add up to 21. Much easier to keep track that way.
Peter! Make another video of cleaning your mat!! It's super satisfying!!
Peter, if you really wanted to dip, you could have easily filled the pip-holes with black-dyed resin for a smooth and even surface, and clear markings.
That's exactly what I was thinking when he said the project wouldn't have any resin!
Great project Peter! The wood looks like some kind of cedar to me, which would be a great choice in my opinion due to its light weight and weather resistance.
Thomas Lightle - Red Barn Woodworking Yeah it looks a lot like white cedar.
love your videos
love the mug
Those are KICK A$$!!! I agree with another comment...I'd like to see them shiny :) Thanks for making these videos! Love them all...makes me want a whole room of power tools!,What fun!
love the dice
Perfect. You don't know how many times I have wanted to go outside after midnight for a giant game of yahtzee.
love the video
so far about halfway
Wow now I will have to see if I can get me some of that glow in the dark paint 😹😹 I loved the effects that you got from it and what a great yard game idea 😹😹 I have this one post in the yard painted already but I think it would be a hoot to paint it with the glow paint😹😹😹 I just love the cool ideas you come up with thanks for sharing 🤗🤗 this is the first time I have ever been willing to pledge and pay on Patreon thanks for the laughs and the fun approach to woodworking 🤗😹🤗😹
3:13 if anyone's curious, yes he did set up the opposite sides correctly, at this time you can see 5 of the 6 sides as he flips it
Love the guys and dolls reference at the end
Really cool project! Congrats! I think I'm going to try this as a present for my nephews. Maybe adding a coat of primer so that the glow is a little more even.
I love your channel and the projects that you do! It has gotten me inspired to do wood working! Also, you are so funny!
The stuff you make is sooo cool! I'd love to see you make a huge pair of dice - maybe 4'x4'!!!
Love your work bud! One of my favourite youtubers
Such a charming singing voice!
Love for the song
I am now a peter brown Patreon. The first page I've wanted to support!
i love dice giant in the glow.
You could make little normal sized dice out of resin with the glow in the dark powder. Very cool video!
I thought this was going to use that Locust wood. Very cool project. I used to play D&D years ago and this reminded me of the good old days.
So cool, think the kids would have lots of fun with this idea this summer. Ever played a game called Tenzi? Would need lots of sets of dice, but worth it!
Sweet Christmas! those look awesome. I am going to add this paint to my Makerspace sign which is west facing so it gets baked all afternoon.
Only $1 patreon single tier? You sir are the real MVP of YT
Wicked cool idea!
