- After a 2-year hiatus, the San Francisco Chinese New Year festival and parade brought tens of thousands to the city Saturday for a triumphant return from a pandemic depression. Max Darrow reports. (2-19-22)

It's Lunar New Year, NOT chinese New Year.
Many things have two names. It has been called the Chinese New Year's Parade in the media for decades, and it's written on the banners seen in this news clip. I'm sure they had the banners approved by some committee or permit dept.
Calling it by the name most people recognize is actually a positive.

Listen again. The report used both names. Plus, if you want most people to recognize what you are referring to, you say, "Chinese New Year Parade".

I wanted to go but online it said they were checking vaccinated status so I kept my money to myself. Lastly, the footage don't show huge crowds. I'm not sure why that lie is being promoted by the news.

Police blocked off the entire parade route so you couldn't even get across Kearney Street. Tremendous disservice to residents who live in the area
Sure, but it's not just this event. I don't know how people live in San Francisco with its numerous annual marches, runs, parades, etc. each year.
