I was robbed at the Chevron on Hegenberger near the freeway in January. My purse was stolen out of the car while I was pumping my gas. I was in town for a family funeral and was on my way back to the airport. I was told to not bother calling the police “they won’t come”. While I was still there two more attempted robberies took place. A car with at least two people was driving into the gas station checking a car door steal what they could and leave. Come back a few minutes later and do the same thing again. They knew the police would not come. I got lucky as I caught them on one those return trips and yelled at them about my purse and my need to catch a flight. They threw my purse out of the car, all the cash was gone but all my cards were still there so was able to catch my flight. I had not been to Oakland since 2019. Had no idea it had gotten so bad there.

I had to close my business in San Francisco after being mugged a few times while taking cash to the ATM after work. Then, I moved to Oakland, but crime drove away my customers, forcing me to close there too. Now, I have to work for someone else and rely on food stamps to survive. This has happened over many years, and I'm just exhausted. I wish I could afford to leave California.

The next thief who entered his property was electrocuted and died. It made national news back in the day. He remained in business for a few more years before retiring. Big ups to Mr. Prentice😎

What would be the purpose? Alarm wouldn't have done anything. As by the camera footage, business owner "received an alert" and called 911. It took 3 hours for Police to show up anyways. They probably didn't respond because it was dark out and way too dangerous for them.
What is left in Oakland? Businesses are leaving, sports are gone, parks are a war zone and the criminals know there aren’t enough police.
