Chinese people have been celebrating the Spring Festival for more than 4,000 years. The time of the Spring Festival is calculated by the Nanjing Zijin Observatory according to the Chinese calendar and the phases of the moon in central China, and is called Chinese New Year. If the Chinese New Year is celebrated in other countries on the same day as the Chinese New Year, then it is rightly called Chinese New Year, but if it is not celebrated on the same day as the Chinese New Year, then please follow your own calendar to calculate the time of the New Year ‘s
time in your own country. All in all, please respect traditional Chinese culture, it's not as simple as changing the name of a holiday.

'Lunar New Year', if your eyes function normal, you can see the first word 'lunar'!! What does 'lunar'? It means moon! The canlendar based the moon cycle is lunar canlendar, and the first day of the lunar year is 'lunar new year'!! Is it difficult to see the word and get the meaning of 'lunar'?? The Chinese canlendar is a combination of lunar calendar and solar calendar. The year is based the solar cycle, and the month is based the lunar cycle. The Islam calendar is lunar calendar!! ‘Lunar New Year’ of 2024 is 7th July! I think you should go to see an ophthalmologist to check your eyes, or buy a dictionary to learn the basic meaning of words again!

Please make sure you are using the right term to Chinese New year as using “lunar new year” this term will cause serious cultural appropriation issues!
Firstly Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar, which is based on a combination between Chinese solar calendar and lunar calendar!
Therefore this is not appropriate to be called Lunar new year as it’s based on Lunisolar Chinese calendar rather than only lunar calendar please! So other Asian countries have been influenced by China to celebrate Chinese New Year! It doesn’t mean the term needs to change! Similar to Christmas, there are non-Christian also celebrate it nowadays and should the term also need to be altered based on this logic! Surely it’s not!
So it’s more appropriate to be called Chinese New Year!

Can we just have ONE new year per year? And why does Chinese new year keep deviating to later and later from new years every single year? Like seems people are so attention starved they need to have a whole holiday in the middle of February for something that happened in DECEMBER

    1. It is not Lunar, it is Lunisolar. 2. It is not owned by the commies. If that's the concern.
    3. To be 100% accurate it is Chinese Agricultural Calendar New Year.
If you do not agree with my American words. You're wrong.
