    I had a 2010 Prius with 285K miles. Riders always commented that it looked like a new car. Original battery, engine, & transmission.

    I think I'm going to get a Tesla used with full self driving. That's going to change the game for me

    Half of the discount you get on a 1 year old car you could get on brand new car incentives and special financing available. I think the sweet spot to buy is a off-lease/3yr old.

    I just sold my 2013 Prius at 290,000 miles on
    Original battery transmission and engine.

      That's pretty amazing. The argument against used Prius used to be the cost to replace battery. But then electric battery shops started popping up and that sentiment went away.

      I was referring a used Prius with higher mileage beyond warranty and how the perception used to be.

    There is at least 1 1.2 million mile Tesla model s. There are tons of 300,000 mile teslas. 500k is great for any gas powered car. Now if that is 500k with no major Maintenance, that would be interesting, but I’m sure it has.

    My 2019 toyota avalon has 235k miles and growing. Replaced vrakes once, struts front and rear once, stabalizer vars front and rear once, transmission fluid twice, tires 4 sets, oil changes every 10k miles, coolant flushes 4 times, 2 for battery 2 for engine, vrake flush twice.
    Buying a new vehicle ensures that the vehicle is in tip-top shape. I will finish paying it off this year in full. The depreciation has saved me from owing taxes. The vehicle has been reliable.
    After all expenses per year. Im clearing 60k a year. Plus the gamble on being out on a vehicle due to collisions. Is not something that happens on a brand new vehicle. Because depreciation doesnt translate to insurance as it does to a regular car market because youre carrying a loan. Never trade in any vehicle with any amount left on it to pay.

      Not saying you don't know what you're doing, but anyone who knows automobile engineers know that they're aren't always looking to make a car last forever. The thing about 10,000 mile interval oil changes is that it doesn't account for oil consumption. Not saying Toyota isn't the most reliable manufacturer but all cars engines have seals and gaskets that degrade over time. 10,000 miles intervals don't give you margin for error. Please make sure you check your oil level at 6 - 7 thousand, even if you don't do the service till 10,000

      @troypollonais9143 that would be true if it were not a toyota. Toyotas are reliable. My toyota choice doesnt consume oil. Every 4 to 6 weeks, i get an oil change. I do have ny oil tested every 3rd. But its never brought back anything questionable. Those metrics are more for regular everyday drivers. The synthetic oil that toyota Produces is amazing stuff.

      @@JADED1620 all parts eventually fail. Even on Toyotas. I own a Toyota btw. Never said you were doing anything wrong. I've worked in the automotive industry for 23 years. It's your car. Do what you want. Just remember labor rates average 150 - 200 per hour for car repairs

    • @JADED1620
      @JADED1620 3 місяці тому

      @troypollonais9143 surely they do. Though toyota has a great track record for lasting longer than other brands. As bets go toyota is a pretty safe bet. Which is another argument for buying new and not used. Gap insurance being one of them that covers the costs of a complete loss. And insures that the vehicle hasnt been driven like it's been stolen prior to you using it as a work horse. Let alone you get a better depreciation value for your taxes. Choosing a reliable vehicle is absolutely crucial to this job. Picking the wrong vehicle could put a persons life into ruin. That is the gamble of being your own business.

    Unfortunately, it’s a proven Fact customers pay more when they see nice rides and comfortable (Space)in the inside. Prius won’t qualify for one of my vehicles.!
