I wanted an RS3 but I ended up getting a fully loaded (every single package including black optics) S3. I am running an APR Stage 2 High Output and very happy.
Ive been wondering about this for a while now. Another informative and well-balanced video Savage Panda Projects - well done and thanks. Keep em coming!
Good video that helps people make a choice. Always best to leave some room than stretch a budget and both can become awesome cars. Find it interesting that Audi seems to use quattro a lot for them yet they don't have the quattro system. Do you guys get the sportback version? Seems to only see sedan version in videos.
Thanks for checking out the video man! That is certainly a good point. Not quite the real quattro! Lol I wish we had sportbacks here but we only get sedans
Honestly, if you're modding the car get the A3, you'll be running same numbers as the S3, get the hybrid and 500-550 hp is just easy with a few extra supporting mods. As for looks they are literally same, just get the s-line, or if you got the the non s-line one, just get the whole conversion kit and you got yourself a down-badged S3 that's two times cheaper with 500 hp. I've had both and the A3's total cost with putting out 500 HP full s-line, maxton and all the other shit, came to 14k in my country. As for S3's, stock ones cost around 18-20k. So for a fully tuned A3 with all the cosmetic mods, I've literally saved 4-6k, not to even talk about what all the cosmetics and tune would cost on the S3.
I posted a video a while back of a buddies A3 gapping a 911 Turbo S LOL With enough money and upgrades the sky is the limit! For me I'd prefer to have the better platform to start with. S3 gets better brakes, seats, exhaust, better LC etc. But for the money hands down the A3 is certainly the best value!
i’m thinking about buying an audi a3 8v 1.8 tfsi fwd and upgrading the turbo (about 370-380 hp) in order to run high 9s 100-200. or should i just go for the s3 which is like 6-7k more?
Im debating a 2016 S3 or a 2019 A3. S3 has the better motor and suspension but A3 would have the better transmission and interior being a 2019. Both same price and milage
I would prefer the facelifted A3, try to go lowest mileage if possible. Some of the earlier models ive seen issues with haldex failures etc. Not saying they all will have problems but I'd go newer like 18+
Currently debating on getting a3 sline 2017-19 facelift or 2015 s3 im in uni prob gonna keep the car for 3 yrs i live in ireland and they are going for the same price but still dont know yet as im thinking about maintenance cost and fuel every day plus its hard to find alright spec most s3 come with regular seats no pan roof same as a3 but im leaning on a3 worh digi dash
I have dilemma which one to choose. A3 stage 3 with macan 4 pistons brakes, s3 seats, bilstein sport suspension and a3 wheel with shifters will still cost about 2500 usd less than stock S3 stage 1 (in Poland). On the other hand I think that these a3 mods won't refund even in 50% when selling few years later and I will lose less when selling a S3. Damn, that's a hard choice.
I mean at that point sourcing all those interior parts, seats, brakes, steering wheels (paddles) you would probably be better off getting an S3 and accept the higher sticker price
Is there any differences in the engine components between the two other than the turbos? I’ve heard s3’s have different pistons and rods, not sure though.
I've seen that come up often in many forum discussions etc. See below: www.vwvortex.com/threads/mkvii-main-difference-between-the-golf-r-and-gti-internals.8730953/ www.audiworld.com/forums/audi-a3-s3-rs-3-mkii-209/mechanical-differences-between-a3-s3-2975553/page2/
they have the same internals, just different maf sensor, and injectors, almost the same platform, however the Audi A3 is down turned more. of course better turbo
The rods most likely yes (for most of these similar models) however I don't believe the pistons are forged. There was a great technical diagram on the Audi 4.0TT motors from the C7+ S6/S7/RS7 that was published a few years ago. I know those engines didn't get forged pistons so doubt they would be forged on any of the 2.0T variants

That's awesome! great choice! :)
No one cares you broke peasant. RS3 or no go
@@gustavopaulette3496 no need to be disrespectful and condescending.
You fucked-up. RS3 would have kept the value better.
Either base S3 or RS3. No in-between.
@@RomanticPopPunk No I didn't because I love my car and have zero plans to sell it. It will be driven until it turns into carbon dust.
addicted to your channel, underrated
Haha right, gotta love the quality content for the MQB platform. Specifically the A3’s, not too many out there!
Thanks for the support man I appreciate you checking it out. I will be sure to check out your videos too!

yes a great topic of discussion! Thanks for checking it out!
2018+ has Android auto + Carplay standard. Something worth considering as well
Super informative video. Just don't find these details so neatly packaged anywhere else!
Thanks for checking it out man! S3 maybe next car for the speed culture stable? 👀👀🔥
@@savagepandaprojects you know i'd love it!

@@savagepandaprojects Sedan a lot rarer to see on the road here even though we can have both. Interesting the difference between markets.

Internally, what’s the difference between the a3 and s3? I heard that the internals on the s3’s are a little different.

I am from quebec......great video....thank you
Thanks for watching!
I have seen a lot of b9 a3s 2.0 quattros with APR tune and they fly. The A3 s quicker than the A4 And A5. A bigger turbo in the A3 is boom
The a3 are actually a lot cheaper than what he shows too, you can find a clean A3 all day long with around 70k miles for 10-13k
Awesome video tho bro
appreciate it man, always nice to score those deals!

I want an S3 but same year A3's are like 7-10k cheaper
That's true!
Do you know if there's any steering difference? I drove the s4 and loved the super tight and heavy steering in dynamic mode.

would love same videos for rs5 / s5 b9
what are the differences between an s5 and rs5 ? i know not much but woud love expanding
I have a dilemma, it’s a preface lift s3, or it’s a sport seat, flat bottom steering wheel and digital dash a3
Get the pre face-lift S3. Just be careful with 2015 models as they can often have Haldex pump issues

I just don't like AWD cars, prefer to driving experience of a rwd, like the Audi lines, style thou...
I totally understand what you mean. Part of me wants something RWD without all the weight up front of AWD
You can find 2010 s4 for 15000 I did
Sweet deal!
