While my friend was on vacation I cut his 2012 Tundra Crewmax and put an 8’ bed on it.

As a multiple Tundra owner I can say the stock frame are much more flexy than my GMC's with their boxed frames. If this person is going to tow or carry loads in the bed I would add diagonal cross bracing to the new frame section kind of like the spare tire cross brace to ensure it is stiff. I understand that the fuel tank still has to go in. These cross braces could be bolted in to make them easy.

The Australians always go with a Z cut for the chassis, weld some angular steel inside the chassis, inset the extension with same size material as the original chassis and weld a reinforcement sleeve covering the full length of the worked area. Probably because of the rough terrains they go in with their extended land cruisers and patrols but it may be good to consider for heavy duty applications.

Lack of frame boxing, way oversized leaf spring mounts hanging to low and flat (Toyota leafs are known to be crap that goes flat fast), much heavier drive shaft with same carrier bearing, increased brake fluid capacity and longer lines with same brake booster, reduced the already to low load carrying capacity thanks to adding more weight to the truck and extending the frame making it weaker more prone to failure under heavy loads, then all the extended wiring, which is prone to shorts, corrosion, and failures now, total lack of undercarriage anti rust treatment. (That we could see)
SO many issues with this mod.
While I love and dream of this mod on my 1794 Tundra, there are SO many other better things you could and should have done to this truck.

That truck will confuse so many people! You should take it to a Toyota dealer for a service see what they say 😂

As a welder and fabricator myself. I’m very impressed. I’ve actually been thinking about doing this to my tundra as well. You’re a good friend and I’m sure your buddy is like “ I’ll let you f@ck my sister.”

I’ve seen a tundra crewmax longbed occasionally a few times the last few years out here in SLC, Utah. It’s a unique truck and looks good in a crew Max longbed configuration. Something Toyota should offer from factory

This was absolutely badass, you are hell of a fabricator/mechanic and to do it all while having to film everything and in that time… gnarly haha 👍🤙

    That's SO sick.
My absolute biggest complaint with truck manufacturer's is that it's nearly impossible to get a crew cab with an 8' bed unless it's special ordered.

Man I'll admit when this video started. I had my doubts. I was like what is this guy doing cutting up this new Toyota that's practically the only thing appreciating in value right now,
But man you really banged this thing out effortlessly, like it was second nature to you.. craftsmanship was remarkable . And in one video without making us wait like 3 months to see it done!! Whaaaaaat? I might even have to subscribe.
Wish I had a friend like you back when I had my ranger. I had to scrap it. all because I can't weld or have a shop/ garage. (Never paid a shop to work on my vehicle otherwise unless it was an alignment or the airbag recall)

Awesome Job, well done. Funny I came across your video just now, but I just saw a crew cabed Tundra with an 8` bed this morning here in Hawaii. It caught my eye as I drove through the intersection of Lunalilo Home Road and Hawaii Kai Drive. "I thought to myself, when did Toyota start putting 8` beds on their crew cab Tundras" It was a dark charcoal grey color. I noticed it because I'm a fan of 8` truck beds.
