You have no idea how inspiring your adventures are! Planning my first ever overnight solo hike at 40 years old, and watching you out there has given me the inspiration I needed to get out there and see Australia on foot. Thank you!
Omg yes this is gold. Thanks so so much for letting me know. Sing out if you have any questions. I tend to prefer camping away from car camping sites when solo. Enjoy and happy hiking
@@KateGrarock Thank you! Joined a few fb hiking groups and hoping to do lots of little day day walks/hikes around my area to get my navigation and fitness up a little and start collecting some gear. Hopefully when spring gets closer I can take myself to explore Bunyip state park and Wilsons Prom and do a few overnights. And if that goes well spring 2023 really want to take some time and go visit Tasmania and knock out the Overland track! I've been up to Cradle mountain but would love to have the full experience. As for questions, are there any overnight hikes in Victoria that you'd recommend for a newbie like myself?
@@Gpots hello Yvonne! I couldn’t help noticing your comments and how similar they are to my own experience. I discovered hiking a few years ago and LOVE it, I thought I would suggest as a wonderful overnight hike in VIC is Mount Feathertop, you can hike it from Diamantina hut across the Razorback to Federation Hut, camp overnight and then make the summit up to Feathertop, it was one of my first hikes and was just the best experience. Good luck and best wishes 👏🏻
@@jessicahunt6214 thank you for that Jessica! I've seen that trial and it looks absolutely beautiful, the alpine/cold aspect is daunting (I'm always cold already haha) but I will learn to layer and will put it on my to hike list for sure!
Great walk/camp (minus those leeches -eek!). I took the whole of Yr 9 on the reverse of that walk back in the day, and I did NPWS walks at Depot and Pebbly - great geology!
@@KateGrarock just got back a couple of weeks ago from thru-hiking the Grampians Peaks Trail. Highlights video of that just got posted the other day if you want to check it out.
Hi Kate, came across your videos yesterday and started watching, especially the gear and food. I have watched a lot of videos, as myself and 3 woman fly out to New Zealand in 4 months to walk the 65 days 1600klms of the North Island TA hence the desire to learn, a lot. I have found your videos to be fantastic with great knowledgeable content, great camera work and background, looking forward to trying the Radix meals. After watching your videos yesterday I emailed the link to the girls and I kept having the thought "there is something different about your videos" yesterday I was fully concentrated on your content but today I realized its who you are Kate. Who would not be enriched by coming in contact with someone so positive, enthusiastic, inspiring and knowledgeable and always has a smile waiting to break out. Thank you Kate, looking forward to watching all your videos.
Alan what a beautiful comment to read. Thanks so very much for the feedback. Comments like these inspire me to keep plugging away with the videos. So good to know there are people getting good info from the vids. Thanks a bunch and hope you love the radix and enjoy the TA
Hi Kate. My friend and I have been watching your videos lately - we’re working up to our first overnight hike in a similar area to where you filmed this. Thanks for being inspirational and providing handy tips.
Amazing mate. Thanks for the message this is exactly why I love sharing these videos. Best of luck with your first hike. It’s a great area for a first hike. Days aren’t too long. Safe travels. Let me know how it goes.
@@KateGrarock Hi Kate. We just completed our first overnight hike! Mystery Bay to Bermagui. It was awesome. A few hiccups but nothing disastrous and some hilarious moments. Always stoked to see your name pop up, video was awesome mate, thank you so much keep them coming. The leeches gave me a shiver but, like stepping on slug walking out to the garage in the dark with no shoes on. Ray.
Your vids are getting better and better Kate, this one is a real corker, right into the core of South coast NSW. Watching those waves break over the rocks I could smell that strong salty fresh air - beautiful, brought back so many of the thoughts from my early life in Oz. Nice to see Laura take a very active role in this vid as well Kate, reinforces what its like a have a good mate with the same attitude on life. Mate spray all your gear with Pyrethrum including daks, socks, pack and tent and forget about leeches, mossies and other crawlies. I dunno about Oz spiders but it deters the spiders here in the Cambodian bush.
Thanks a lot Col. Yes trying to improve the quality so it’s great you noticed. And nice tip on treating my gear. I just purchased some for my next adventure. Cheers
Love the opening song. Had a chuckle when you came across the kangaroos, they were looking at you like ‘what the hell do you want.?’ lol. The South Coast track looks amazing, putting it on my bucket list
Another top overnighter Kate, just love our South east coast, but how’s them leeches OMG. It’s all so green now….. but just a little bit over the wet weather. Just spent 4 days kayaking and camping up in the K valley, 4 days rain, 1 hour of sunshine I recon lol, was bloody awesome tho. Love the walk backs at the end, I reckon you would have some awesome bloopers 😉 cheers Debs
